Hello Gormo Frank from England here , another great scratch build mate, Love the rivet making tool I will make something like that myself. Also like the wet and dry paper trick 👍i will have to make a lift out bridge for my layout so will probably do the same type as yours . Thanks again for the video keep em coming, regards Frank
Your bus had me do a double take, its a Todmorden bus, I came from Todmorden originally so nice to see. Your bridge is Brilliant, Ive thought the raw materials could also come from a tinny. Keep up the great work
Hi Gormo, The rivet tool is, as usual, brilliant. Again, you've produced a very professional looking result, using a cheap homemade tool. Well done, that's what I love about scratch building. Cheers, Rich
G`day Rich, Where there`s a will there`s a way. My dear old dad used to say to me when I was a lad.." always do it the easy way son ". He was a bit of an inventor and could think outside the box. What he meant was to find a way to make hard tasks easier and I`ve carried that advice with me all my life. Therefore I use jigs and specialized home made tools to help me achieve some of the things I create.....I think my dad is still whispering in my ear from time to time. Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo, the beauty of scratch building is you can make it the exact size to suit the area on which you are working....Great job, looks very realistic. Cheers Greg
Gormo, you are so inventive, a true modeler and what a great bridge. I have one to build in the distant future and I had not thought of girders underneath as you have. Glad you mentioned it. Rivet tool...fantastic. Barry.Devon.
G`day Barry, Glad you like the bridge. Yes the girders underneath was something carefully considered. I wondered whether anyone would notice them and indeed if was worth bothering about them.?? Of course I decided to go ahead and put them in and I`m glad I did in the end. When you shoot video from rail level, you see them.....same on my other bridge across the station......and they add a certain realism and weight to the bridges, which I like. Nothing is terribly difficult to make....it just takes time........and the rivet tool works a treat. Cheers Gormo
Nice job Gormo! Yes you could probably buy ready made sections, but the chances of finding something to fit your exact span or size are pretty remote, plus you wouldn't get that unique "I made that" feeling, and you'll have a one off creation that every man and his dog hasn't bought from Ratio/Peco or whoever! ...Cheers. Les.
Great video, and a wonderful result. Bridge looks amazing - this kind of videos makes me want to scratch build more myself. You are a great inspiration and very talented. Best regards Mikkel
Hi Gormo= The bridge looks very good indeed , and from the UK our thoughts go out to the Aussies re the bush fires and I hope you are not badly effected yourself. Cheers Kev
Thanks Kev, Fortunately we are getting some rain now but sadly not quite enough yet in the right areas to completely snuff out the fires. We are going through a cool patch at the moment and that combined with the rain, has given the fire fighters a bit of a break. I am not affected by fire myself as I am in a very suburban part of Sydney, however we have had the smoke haze blanketing Sydney for what now seems forever, which limits you to indoor activities and no vigorous exercise. Fingers crossed for the rain to carry on. Cheers Gormo
@@greatchesterfordjunction Super bit of simple explanation and a great bridge. Strikes me at present the only thing you are missing in Oz is a plague of locust, keeping our fingers crossed for you all, best wishes from the U.K.
@@frankwhittle4364 Funnily enough Frank.....we sometimes do get locust plagues here in Oz. We might as well throw the locust into the mix as well, we`ve just about had everything else...LOL Thanks for your good wishes.......much appreciated. Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo, greetings from Ballarat, and just restarted. Away from the modelling I trust you are far away from the floods, as I need all the skills transfer I can get Many thanks for all your efforts, regards Pete B
@@peterbolton8130 G`day Peter, Yes mate, we are high and dry. If it floods in my area, Sydney must be under water..lol Thanks for your comments Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo Great idea that, which got me thinking. Years ago I used to a bit of leather work and had a stitch spacing tool. This basically looked like spur with the prongs or spikes at 4mm centres. This is a bit on large side and would need multiple passes. The other day I was on an aeromodelling site buying some paint and knock me down with a feather they had the exact tool with three pitches for putting rivets on fuselages. It unfortunately didn't say what the pitches were. It was made by Revell. Well known in the UK but not sure about your neck of the woods. Many thanks for videos Cheers Jim
G`day Jim, Thanks for the information. Yes we know Revell over here, but I was not aware of their tool range.? That sounds like a good tool, depending on the pitch setting as you say.I was lucky with mine as I had the bits and pieces. I also fiddle with old clocks from time to time. I must say though, when you have the tool, be it home made or store bought, you can run a line of rivets off in no time at all. Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo It arrived today and it's a bit small for OO with the pitches being 0.5, 0.7, 0.8 and 1.0mm, although 1.0mm is 3" The 1.0mm being OK for N gauge at 6" and 0.5mm being 3". Which is about right to scale but you can hardly see it. Keep up the good work Regards Jim
@@greatchesterfordjunction It cost alot more than what yours did and yours does so good, I wouldn't worry about buying one. I'm not in anyway trying to insult Mr. Ray Wilson, he is correct and what he has said is a good piece of info. and will be helpful to some people for sure. 👍

Glad you like the bus.
A tinny may be just a bit too firm to take the rivet indentations.
Worth a try though
Stay safe
