    I love my clearance at Lowe's, I'll go after a storm and pick up a lot of foliage that you can propogate, i will usually buy at least one plant from the clearance and then ask for the stuff i found on the ground, they look at me like... " You're asking if you can have the junk we have to sweep up every night?! I have so many beautiful plants because of this!

  • @victoriaperez3574

    As a Lowe's employee, you can haggle on the distressed plants. We really don't care, because distressed plants will end up in the trash if they don't sell. So if you wanted those $5.98 plants for $2 instead if $4, all you have to do is ask something like, "hey, these aren't looking too good, can we lower the price a bit? I'd really like x amount of these for x price, if allowed." And 9/10 we're pretty happy to accommodate. (Hopefully not just my store is like this, lol.) Just make sure to talk to an employee in the department, can't stress this enough, don't try to haggle down the price with a cashier, that takes up the cashier's time, the time of those waiting in line behind you, and they'll just end up calling someone from the department anyways.

    Lowes clearance racks are the first place I look for plants. Every year there are different combinations of healthy to half-dead flowers & shrubs to play with. I especially enjoy the daunting challenge of saving the saddest ones. Must've been a tree surgeon in a previous life. 😷🌱
    (In all seriousness, end of season sales are a great time to look for super low deals. Three years ago, late summer, bought a mostly dead 2 gallon double Knock-Out rose yellow tagged at $2.00; hard-pruned it & planted it in a protected semi-sun area. It's now the most beautiful rose-loaded shrub, all summer long. It always was - the top was a brown withered mess but the roots were in excellent shape. It just needed a little simple care. It really burns me to see these gorgeous plants neglected & dying in the back of box store yards. So wasteful.)

    I went to Lowe’s this week and found very healthy looking creeping phlox in one-gallon pots for $4 a pop. The only thing wrong with them was that they had already bloomed. I’m playing the long game in my garden, so I bought 6. I should have bought 12, but I was trying to restrain myself. I also stepped away from the $4 PW verbena at a second Lowe’s, but came back for it a day later. My will power has its limits.

    I just found you! You have a new subscriber.
    I went to Lowe's on mother's day weekend, too. But I did not shop for plants. I'll go back during the week when it's quieter.
    I needed soil and potato-size rocks. I've been trying to eliminate quack grass creeping from neighbor's yard before I fill my nearby raised beds and grow veggies and cutting flowers. After cutting off invasive roots, I dug a small trench and am filling it with rocks as a barrier the grass won't like to cross. I lined the trench with fabric first. Still cutting out volunteer tree roots a few years after felling the trees. They're as big as my forearm!
    I heard how expensive annuals are this year. Yikes! My seed-starting experiment is sort of a bust so hopefully direct seeding goes much better.
    Now I'm going to watch more of your videos.

I also must know that the Dissectums Are the slower growing of the Japanese Maple and can reach 8-10 feet and 12ft wide with time Lots of time. It’s called clematis wilt. If you notice the leave starting to wilt and turn brown the only thing to really do is cut it all out and place it into a garbage bag. Mine got it and I cut it to the ground and it came back beautifully. It was a purple Jack Mani. 1 only prune the dead off. 2 cut last year’s growth(light pruning) 3 can be and should be cut back to the ground. Always keep the root’s shaded with mulch or other plants like a ground cover and there heads in the sun. I have bought several clearance plants from Lowes and you are definitely taking a chance with survival lol

    Went to Lowe's and found a Foxglove (with 2 plants in one container) for half price (9.50)…and 2 coreopsis for $4.00 each. They need some TLC, but I know they will recover. I live in Wichita Falls, TX (it's going to be 106 degrees here today...5/15/22), and there is a home improvement store called "Sutherlands". They had perennials for $2.50 last weekend! Needless to say I'm stocked up. They were gorgeous plants, and they weren't root bound. The varieties were limited, but I got "mellow, yellow" coneflower, veronicas, royal candles, moonbeam coreopsis and columbines.

    Lowes changed the way they do their clearance pricing to standardize it throughout the chain. Lowes no longer clearances plants due to how long they have been in the garden center but more to do with condition of the plants. It's extremely time consuming to handle every plant and swipe the bar codes with a sharpie. Also some Monrovia plants are worth the extra bucks due to the quality of the stock and the great planting methods Monrovia uses. But you have to know what plants actually come from Monrovia itself and what plants are grown by the other vendors but placed in the Monrovia pots. Even though there are standards( given by Monrovia) by which the other vendors are to grow those plants they don't appear to be as good quality.

    • @landscaperescuewithstuartm6141
      @landscaperescuewithstuartm6141  2 роки тому

      I've covered this in another video I talked to some Monrovia reps and the standards are high to put something in a Monrovia pot but the pot is a lot thinner so long jevity in full sun water retention the insulating quality the pot definitely has an effect. And I agree with you 100% I've made a comment on another video about how asinine it is to have an employee walk around and tag plant material that no one's going to buy so from the business aspect the new Matrix makes a ton of sense

    I hate Lowe's new clearance policy. The old way was so much better and so much less waste. The Lowe's around my area act like their hands are tied with not being able to reduce further pricing so they just end up throwing away the majority of their clearance plants because people aren't willing to pay the new pricing system. It's not a bad when plants are originally over $14 dollars and you get half off. But anything under that place is not that great of a savings.
