Breaking open a 1959 Topps Baseball Christmas Rack Pack, YES I am CRAZY!

My father would put two Christmas racks in our Christmas stockings every Christmas. This was in the late 50’s to early 60’s. I am 73 years old now. These are real ❤

I bought a few 1970 of these and the only reason was to get cards for my set as they looked in outstanding condition from the tops. I was more than pleased with my purchase.

Nice enough cards, but I hope you didn't pay hundreds of dollars for that. It's not vintage - the plastic is a dead giveaway. It's way too soft and stretchy. Something that was packaged even 3rd party in the 1960's or 70's would have had that crinkly, cello-like plastic that would likely be somewhat brittle now. My guess is that rack is a 21st century creation.

i remember when $1.00 packs were expensive !! ... now its $5 - $10 - $15 etc ..... a small box can cost $50 !! .... THATS RENT MONEY - THATS FOOD MONEY - THATS CLOTHES MONEY - THATS INSANITY MONEY !!
Yes, times have changed really really fast and in a big way. There are 5K boxes of new cards!!! Crazy world
Loved it! I recently broke 2 bbce 1984 Topps wax boxes, got 4 Mattinglys all probably psa 9+. Also broke 83 fleer, resulting in 2 Gwynns and a Boggs. Really fun to break old wax!
Wow Alex, you hits the Best stuff man. You got solid boxes too, sometimes people open a whole box and only hit one major Rookie. Good for you man!
By the way, I do have a '73 Baseball pack. I know you asked me in another comment and I haven't forgotten about it. I will find it and let you know. I'm organizing a ton of inventory lately. : )

@Jerry Do you mean you bought Rack Packs that were repacked? I would think buying Rack Packs would be much safer than buying wax packs.

Seen some 68 Christmas packs 15 cards a pack for 150.00 I believe ! Glad i seen ur video I really want this but I'm a little weary abt it .
Hey Ann, honestly, although I did (and have a few more similar packs that I will be breaking on my channel) I do it mostly to provide entertainment value to you and other UA-camrs. I know that the chances of me pulling something awesome are about 1%.
Cool, but depending on who you believe - these “vintage” Christmas racks were also made long after the 1980’s as well. Some people think even into the 21st century. I think they are fun, as long as you don’t spend big bucks on them. And if you do, you had better see the star you are after on top. Even this one you are opening here - that does not look like 1960’s or 70’s plastic you are pulling to me. It’s pretty strong for being that old if so.

The funny thing is, with all the people breaking 80's and 90's boxes, even those may be more rare in unopened condition in the future. Which could drive up prices for remaining supplies of it. So even "junk wax" could end up being a solid investment if you hold onto it long enough!

Bud, Those cards were not repackaged prior to the basecard boom. These are all modern repacks from the pack 2 or 3 years. I know people who make thousands of items like this in their garage. These ARE NOT LEGIT and a total WASTE of money

So many questionable ones on Ebay that weren't made in the 60's 70's. How do I tell?
It's very tough. Most look and have newer plastic wrappers. be careful and don't pay too much for it. Buy it if you get a good price, cards look like they're in great condition or have a card on top/bottom that you want. Good luck and thank you for watching and commenting!!!

Why would you say: human error if you pull a mickey mantle, yogi berra, or a roger maris??? This makes no sense at all in particular being all topps 1959 christmas rack pack? If I opened say: 15 rack pack and got all commons I would be furious! I have opened many of these and yes, I have pulled some very good cards, not in every rack pack but, some....It's about random, not about human error, lol😂
