The last original real unopened 1968 packs I ever saw were bought by Mr Mint Al Rosen who bought two boxes from a lady who owned a candy store in Mississippi. She would put the extra boxes in the attic after each season. She sold all her extra boxes to Rosen when she closed the candy store and retired. In that overflow of boxes were two 1968 boxes. I watched him open those boxes and he found two Ryan’s and 4 Bench rookies. I bought a Ryan and 2 Bench cards. The one Ryan he kept was perfect centered and it was PSA graded 10.
Woody Fryman lived about ten minutes from me when he was alive. I had a few of his cards. He lived in Ewing Ky. A town of about 400 people. He was a farmer after baseball.
@@danevertt3210 hey I'm not the one who overpaid for a bunch of searched cardboard bucko. That attitude is what gets you a bag of chips and not much else.

i can tell just by the way these packs opened they were altered. as well as not having any sort of wax or gum residue. my question is, without having opened them, how did PSA spot it? the wax did look perfect so maybe they were repos
The rojas damage looks like it was caused by the gum to me. A stick of gum has moisture in it no matter what..that's why the sticks dry out and break over time. The card absorbs the moisture from the gum. Not always, but it definitely happens. Certain years are notorious for dark rectangles on the back of cards where the gum was touching.
I actually bought 1968 packs for 5 cents back in the spring of 1968 Willie Mays was the big card that people wanted back then in the first series. Little did I know in my 9 year old hands I was holding a pack of baseball cards that would go for $500 dollars 50 years later.
1976 was an off year for Rookie Cards. Dennis Eckersly and Willie Randolph are the best. 1968 had the Nolan Ryan and Lou Pinella Rookie Cards, as well as some interesting error cards. i just discovered your videos. Love to watch you opening old packs. I was a huge collector in the 1980s. Spent all my paper route money on baseball cards. I also have a holy grail story of finding a Redwing boot box full of cards at a flea market for $20 which contained almost month condition cards including stars and rookies from late 50s to '74. Among the great finds in that box were two Mike Schmidt rookies (one of which was sadly a bad cut) and a Nolan Ryan rookie. At one time i had every complete Topps set form 79-87 as well as most Fleer and Donrus sets 81-87. Unfortunately sold off most of my stars, rookies, and sets trying to survive college. But, I still have about 35,000 commons from the 1950s through the late 80s.

Sadly a lot of vintage packs have been searched over the years. Even the "junk wax" era packs were searched back in the day by people thinking certain cards would increase in value. Earl Williams and Larry Lintz almost look like a "Make Your Own Topps Card" & Joe Verbanic and Gary Bell look like "College Yearbook Photos Card". I would also refuse to allow the Gary Sutherland photo BUNTING on any card of my likeness. GREAT VIDEO!

Mike, around the 4:12 mark of your video, when you look at the top edge of the pack, it seems the wax is jutting out to the side on the left, whereas the other corner looks tight and tucked. Both are resealed packs.
Only 5 cards? Crazy.
lmao psa could just open the pack for themselves take the good stuff then be like "ya altered"
Topps released every card at once starting in 1974.
If you don’t know anything about the 1976 Topps set, then you haven’t been collecting long or don’t know much about collecting..if you did,you would know that you have a couple of cards in that pack that would probably grade mint 9 or even better.Which is tuff as shit to find in those cards..
"I don't even know what series this is" --I don't believe that was a thing with baseball cards until the 90's
Actually, baseball cards were usually issued in different series up until the early 1970s.
Not a single semi star is odd...I'd bet they were opened at one point
Definitely appears to be resealed. Nice cards for 76. The 68 packs came with only 5 cards plus the stick of gum. Thanks for sharing!
What makes you say they were resealed??
I got to rip both years back then..😊
1976, George Brett, Mike Schmidt, Nolan Ryan; BTW the last Topps set issued in 'series' was in 1973.
Joseph Amendolare thanks for the feedback on that; I wasn’t sure which year they transitioned from series to full set runs.
Anytime I've cracked an old pack there's always one card that's jacked from the gum, always. To not have this,This to me makes me think something fishy.
And you did fine my bro.... Though let me tell you that one could only wish those were vintage Garbage Pail Kids packs !!!
68 has Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench rookie cards
Also has mantle 68 the last year he actually played a full season. The 69 mantles were tribute cards with his final stats.
you just destroyed about 50 dollars when you tore the 1968 pack. empty packs are worth money.
Joey Roten - no kidding I thought the wrapper was really cool, and I imagine pretty rare, as opposed to the all ready picked through cards inside 😀
yes a lot of card wrappers have sold on eBay for a lot of money for example a 1953 fleer wrapper of the three stooges cards sold on eBay for 400 dollars.
and the wrappers aren't as rare as the cards in a lot of examples the wrapper is worth more than the cards themselves.
Joey Roten - 3 Stooges cards?!? Was that Curley’s rookie year😂 I’ll have to check those out
yea if you can find one a 1953 curly psa 10 card is worth over 5 thousand dollars.
You ripped the '68T wrapper!! Be carefully!!
hoping for more videos of your collection. Thanks.
that was brutal
Hey bro, I'll gladly take those cards if you are serious about sending them out. I just subscribed to your channel.. Whoops, I misread the year thinking you had just opened these. My fault.
It's from the gum
That's what I thought right away, but maybe burn bubbles from excessive heat, eh?
Hey....PSA could be wrong..The way they grade so inconsistent , anything is possible..
That’s from the moister in the gum bleeding into the card
It’s gum residue on the back of the card that you first checked
Not once of those cats who rifles through packs of unopened cards looking for one(s) that will put my kids through college, buy me a million dollar home & take me around the world, twice. 🙄 That said, it does suck when the best player card in a particular pack is unfortunately the one with the most severe damage. And in this case that being the 68’ ‘Cookie’ Rojas card. Nonetheless, I very much enjoyed watching this & only wish you would upload more video’s, my friend. Cheers!!!
Tee Dee I never really thought about opening more. I have lots of vintage packs normally I just grade them with PSA. I guess I could start opening more and posting them. Thanks for the feedback!
Don't snap the cards down like playig cards.
Exactly
They’re worthless so.......
I have auditory card handlers. Lets damage a card to feel cool as we lay em down. What us the point.
Both were tampered with
Hell, even if it was altered its still a decent pack ...Luziniski,, No neck williams, Rennie Stennett 7 for 7 , ...this reminded me that i actually liked the 76 set....
Was searched all dayyyyy longgggg!!!
what do you know about busting vintage packs? I have two graded vintage packs from the 50s that I still haven't busted yet in my PC.
Could be stained from the gum after 50 years
