    It’s close to AstroBot? Huge compliment. Thank you! Do you think Moss is more a puzzle platformer while Max Mustard is more action platformer? We also rate it highly.

      Keep up the great work. Yes, Moss is more of a puzzle platformer with an emphasis on storytelling. Max is extremely closr to astro with its own unique design style

    This game really needs at least one little place where your character Max takes an elevator to the top of a high building and, you know, walks out to the end of a plank. For the lulz.

    Matteo, if you die. You actually keep the coins you collected. So only collect them again if you really want the $$$.
    We did it this way as an elegant difficulty balancer. The more you die, the more coins you get, the more upgrades you can buy.

    • @MrJwyne
      @MrJwyne 10 місяців тому +1

      Should have made it the other way. If you die, you lose the coins. OR, maybe make it depend on the difficulty chosen (if there are options) …easy, you die, you keep the coins. Normal, you die, you lose the coins.

    I'm pretty obsessed with Stilt right now. I'd put that one on par with astro in terms of fun factor. Once u realise just how responsive and precise the controls are it really feels amazing to play. Big surprise.

      Yet it doesn't feel anywhere near as satisfying when spin-attacking enemies compared to Rescue Mission. Plus Max's death animations look cheap and buggy. Won't knock the Q3 version for having weird animation stutters from time to time due to the limitations of Q3, or greyish black levels. Soundtrack is also pretty forgettable, but overall it's been a lot of fun, even if it's not reinventing the VR platforming wheel or anything. Must-have on Q3, including Resident Evil 4 & OceanRift

    Man, I'm so geeked for October 3rd for PSVR2. Moss is the GOAT for sure but it's more of an adventure game to me than a platformer. I hope we get Moss Book 3 someday and more third person adventure/platformers, they work so well in VR.

  • @GreyMatterShades

    Nice! Glad this game turned out to be great. IMO saying that it doesn't quite live up to Moss or Astrobot is extremely high praise. It would have to be very good to even get close.
    Looking forward to seeing how the PSVR 2 version turns out. Hopefully there's a nice boost in visuals, and the unique features of the headset are well implemented.

      I've almost completed the first world, and it's been pretty solid overall. Almost comes across like a first wave Dreamcast-like platformer from a smaller studio that's been VR-ified. The only thing i find that it has over AstroBot, at this point, is the massive jump-up in resolution. I think I'll hold off for the PSVR2 version though which is finally getting a release early October! :P
      It's funny, because if this game were released on flat screen it wouldn't even be worth playing, but plunking it in VR, as everybody knows can transform a 5/10 pancake platformer into like an 8/10.

    So, according to IVRy, the PSVR will need an adapter to connect to PC effectively. Maybe Sony is letting the current stock sell out so they can begin to ship a new package with the PC adapter. They would also need to update the info on the box to promote the PC compatability.

      You gave me a panic attack! I couldn’t find “game of the year” anywhere on the meta store. Other UA-camrs have suggested this, however.

    I never really liked platformers. I did play Moss 1 and 2 and beat them both. They were okay games considering they were platformers. But I saw little to no reason for them to be in a VR medium. I'm gonna hard pass on this. My wallet will thank me for once.

  • @markqii1687
    @markqii1687 10 місяців тому +1

    For me VR is about experiencing environments, so when a platformer puts you in a third-person environment it takes away from the experience. I loved Moss, but I don’t go back to it because I cannot play as Quill. Keep third-person games for flat platforms, and VR for first-person. Even though it does look good Max Mustard will be a pass.

      Astro Bot is easily my favorite VR game so I very much disagree with you. I can’t speak for this game yet but in that one I still felt like I was fully in the game world just not the main character. Like I was a helpful God watching and helping this little guy on his journey.

    • @GreyMatterShades
      @GreyMatterShades 10 місяців тому +2

      I strongly disagree with you there. You're absolutely entitled to your own preferences, but myself and many others love games like Moss and Astrobot and wish there were more of them. There are plenty of first-person VR games for you to play (including recent platformers like Stilt).
      The VR ecosystem benefits from having a wider variety of games.
