Went August last year on a boat too. Caught 1 trout with a spinner and my mate blanked. It was quite a bit algae-ish like your day too.
2 years before we tried off the bank. I blanked and my mate caught with a power bait.
We use 2 rods. Spinner and power bait.
Hard going there it seems but I plan to go back in April or May

Are there other places that do trout like them? I've been twice and only caught 1 fish. Costs add up haha but I guess we fish not to look at the cost but to enjoy ourselves
