Lighting schemes, filmmaking tricks, and 30 pages of concentrated information with examples.
Despite the noise in the dark key scenes, I decided to give this camera a second chance. I filmed a short cinematic video, and I must say the RED Komodo performed impressively. As a colorist, I appreciate its extensive dynamic range, true-to-life skin tones, and the advantages of its global shutter. This is not a commercial statement, but my genuine opinion.

Работа мягко говоря безупречна!
Ребята, горжусь за отечественный кинематограф. Таких эмоций уже очень давно ничего не вызывало. Вы безумно талантливы!
I need your advice! Do you interesting to watch behind the scene video?
If yes, what do you want to see? Light setup, camera settings etc...
Yes please 🙏
Yes love to see lots of light set ups bts and diagrams
Lighting setup. but also camera , dolly and other setup used during the shoot.
Indeeeed..we most see the BTS
Behind the scenes videos you make in the channel makes it very unique, and people wanna enjoy watching and learn more. So definitely yes!
In my opinion lighting setup indoors is more challenging and interesting to lear along with what camera settings you use.
It's also nice to know how you script each scene to make it blend smoothly with the environment.
all is interesting to learn from you.
✌🏻💯
This is incredibly fresh to see. A cinema camera tested in controlled, narrative driven cinematic setting. It's very beautiful work. May I ask what focal lengths you used from the Cooke primes?
Thank you! I used 25, 32,50 mm.
Another fantastic video from one my favorite channels. One thing my camera operator eye caught was a shiney bounce board reflected in the painting at 0:13 in ..... no big deal of course, I'm just trained to always be watching for reflections.....
да братан, ты реально крут, я всегда верил, что решает свет и цвет, а не камера... каждый твой кадр как картина
Interesting that свет and цвет sound almost the same, but mean "light and color". Must be hard to tell which one a person is saying.
@@smileychess it's not that hard if you are native speaker
This was beautiful, well done. You should totally make a short film from this. I was invested in the story. haha.
How do you make a scene interesting, add good looking people, nah add beautiful looking people. I'm sold
so we need a behind the scenes of this shoot lol please and thank you!!
I will do it!
The music makes this movie wonderful . Try watching with the sound turned off, and all the magic will disappear… Music is magic
As a colorist and a DP, I would love to see your grading in action :)
I love everything you do...music,camera,actors,background,smoke, everything is just perfect.
Thank you!
By the way, the beautiful music of this video by Jordan Critz "Starry night".
Instant subscribe wow wow wow. Light setup would be cool.
Would it be possible to make a video using the new Sony fx3? (or A7siii).
I can try to work with Sony fx3.
@@ANDBERY Yessss I just bought this camera, I would love to see what you could do with it!
@@ANDBERY That would be awesome. I am unsure if I should buy it hahaha
Just wow, amazing work!
Lighting breakdown please!
As always, outstanding and beautiful cinematography, camera movement, storytelling, and lighting! I would love to see BTS lighting with diagrams and rationale for your choices. Love your channel!
I will do it :)
Which lens you have used to shoot
this video
amazing lighting and sound. great (cinematic) image quality and compositions.
Incredible , I wonder if you have done tests comparing to An arri alexa or red raptor ?
This is quite expensive test for me😬
I want to see the short films of all the people telling you how much better your short would be if this or if that was different.
it somehow looks more like from BMD color science and not as thick in colors as typical R3D. But it certainly looks pretty though.
Can you also share which lenses you used for this great film???
Watch the video till the end. He described what lenses he used. Cooke Panchros!!
@@jasoncha1148 thanks
The name of this music is Starry Night by Jordan Critz.
😍😍😍😍
✌️❤️
Technically and Cinematically PERFECT achivement by my GIRLFRIEND named KOMODO. Good luck from MAURITIUS.
The best thing my eye have ever seen🤍❤🙏
The quality the grading the composition every thing is a masterpiece
Could you please tell me about nusic resource ?
Wow, thank you! I used musicbed subscribe www.musicbed.com/
The feel is like watch hollywod movie
i clicked cause it looked so pretty and then i read "scene by andbery" and I'm like "of course.."
Haha, thank you! :)
who says get rid of chromatic aberrations? I embrace them dearly.... well, most. One time I had one that was so prominant, it looked like someone drew a red line along the contours of my actors head in MS Paint. that had to go.
what song did you use?
Beautiful! I really enjoy the noise as well, reminds me of film grain. Love it!
I love I love it too :)
Love the Cooke´s! They are second to none. Btw, what is the song called on musicbed?? :)
Jordan critz starry night
Beautifully stunning !!
I would also love to see what was put into post production.Grading and how you exposed for the skin.
That was incredible
Nice video. I wonder how a night video will look. I always see rooms with big windows and the sun shining in on these type of videos. I'm sure it's easier to shoot that way.
beautiful! what lens did you use?
Thank you, it was Cooke Panchro classic (not rehouse)
the fench could shoot a picture using a lemon and it would look good!
RED should give you the new V-Raptor instead.
But I'm not Jason Momoa 😂
@@ANDBERY Guess you gotta agree to shoot multiple promotional projects with them before you can get free cameras.
Looks stunning. I'd be more interested in a colour grading tut from you. That process can make poorly lit footage look great and great lit footage look like this.
So you're cool with the massive reflections of your diff frames in all of the glass on the cabinets and picture frames on that back wall? 😁
I see everything other than library. I really doubting the title library
Wow.. this is the best Komodo footage I have seen
This is so amazing! I wanted to buy this camera and now I see I have to get it today! It’s so worth it!
The BEST short film I ever saw! Very high quality!
Gotta love all that chromatic aberration!
It looks very nice but I am curious what lens you used. There is a lot of chromatic aberration in the green channel -- edges have a green line
Hey, thanks. It was Cooke Panchro classic.
If you watch most great films closely at things like coma, fringing, barrel distortion and adoration, you will start to see them everywhere as anamorphic and most cinema lenses will have their own distortion and colour characteristics.
Ironically, if you want to avoid character on lenses you can choose lenses designed for photography which will have corrective coatings to eliminate these characteristics and give you as well the most colour accuracy and razor sharp rendering which is what photography lenses are designed to produce. Unfortunately, it is quite fatiguing to watch a film when shot like this as makeup, wardrobe and many other details that are generally knitted together with the soft focus and character of cinema glass are not presented well with the sterility of photography lenses. On the flip side, the sterile video look of photography lenses on cinema cameras work really well presenting documentary and interviews as it imparts super live TV look that works for social media as well.
Awesome ❤️
❤️
This is gorgeous. Very well done! I shot a night scene on a Komodo with Contax-Zeiss lenses and I was surprised at how well it handled the shadows. I was able to shoot outdoors at night with limited lighting. Really good use of it here; beautiful scene!
Great look! Impressive!
this is 6k????
yes
I love your work. Would you consider the Komodo over the BM Ursa 12k? I appreciate lighting is the key ingredient.
You are right, The light is the key of cool image. I used Komodo, because it has native PL mount.
Man, the images are absolutely stunning!!!
Man this art you really moved my emotions, great composition, and legendary lighting.
I have love deep inside me for filming but life is not always corporative, your work always makes me have hopes and reminders me about the beauty of the industry.
Keep the good work.
❤
Why is the lens halation too much?
Music by Jordan Critz ( I think )
Hello there, i would like to learn from you because i believe you have a superior competency to tell story. How can i learn from you? Was there a focus puller in this video?
Hi, you can learn from me in my course about lighting and set design. andbery.com/
Yes, focus puller was in there.
Good but you over spreading haze
This was amazing. I loved it.
Did You use black pro mist filters? I can see haze on the windows ;) love that effect.
That camera 🎥 is so nice! I’m flying a Sony FS5 Mk2 with the Atomos shogun 7 on a crane 3S.
Amazing. Please make a bts
Thanks, I will!
@@ANDBERY I am also wondering do you think I can get this look with the bmpcc 6k pro?
@@einsteinessibu1952 You can. This is a very cool camera with crazy dynamic range. But if you will want to have natural skin tone, you should to have colour grade skills.
@@ANDBERY okay thank you
What filter/fog machine was used? Awesome video btw
Hello! The lens is very soft by itself, I used only ND filters.
@@ANDBERY woah woah, what?? No pro-mist at all?? Consider me fooled, I could have sworn I saw some filter-induced blooming. Love this footage btw, gorgeous job all around.
@Ryan Chernin Haha, I swear! This lens was used on "the Crown" and "Chernobyl" Netflix series. If you watched it, pay your attention to the highlights in the frames. PS/ I used cheap classic version, not rehouse.
@@ANDBERY Honestly this blew my mind, I thought that kind of look could only be achieved using some kind of diffusion filter. This footage is amazing!
Oh , i thought you overused a hazer + promist filter. Coz the highlights are bluish. But this effect is built-in to the lens, surprised!
What stabilization are used bro????
smoke abusing is not cinematic, it is a bad taste
I'm sure you must have amazing taste. Don't waste your time watching UA-cam videos, create something.
Beautiful 😍
Great my friend. Opening shot, 32mm Cooke? I was surprised by the motion cadence of the Komodo, very nice. Highlights struggle a little, but for the price it is great!
Hi, thanks! Yes, it was 32 mm C Panchro.
@@ANDBERY Thank you my friend! Keep up the great work. Curious, have you tried the Zeiss Arri standard speed on digital? 24 or 32? Cheers!
@@zacharyj.5329 Hi, thanks! Do you mean High speed ARRI classic series?
@@ANDBERY Sorry friend, I should have clarified. Zeiss Standard Speed T2.1 PL lens. Realized around the time of the Panchro.
@@zacharyj.5329 Unfortunately, no, I didn't work with it :( I bet it has great image!
Just got done with school, greatly look forward to getting your lighting course (finally) after I save some more. Love the production design of your videos and would like to apply this to my stuff (if I'm lucky films taking place from Victorian to edwardian). Take care.
Hey, thank you! Hope your doing is well, and your film project will be done as planned.
@@ANDBERY Is it tough for you being the director and dp at the same time? Realistically I will have to do that for my first feature.
@@LycanVisuals On art projects, I just have no choice 😂
This is quite difficult because you have to work twice as much. But this is cool, because you have freedom of art thinking.
What an amazing short film! It catches me at the beginning. But expect one thing, senes with the pro-mist filter are not very friendly to my eyes.
Твою-ж мать! Как это жирно!
Absolutely beautiful use of light & shadows, thanks for this
Thank you mate!
This is so beautiful ! Love it
❤️
oh shit how the color grading was done? u used some presets or luts plz let me know :) love it
Thanks for your effort. It's great. One small detail caught my attention. At 01:51, the transition between the close camera and the wide-angle camera suddenly broke the integrity. The light is uneven and different. Do you think so?
Ohh 25fps thats why
which lens?
Cooke Panchro classic
What lenses were used for this?
Cooke Panchro
@Rixson Mercado 25,32,50
Perfect look! High-quality! Why don't u produce a narrative short film or even a big one!?
Thank you :) Of course, I want to make a big movie, but as a DP only.
@@ANDBERY There is a tv show called Shining Vale. I see u in/on the same level.
You made the Komodo shine. What glass did you shoot with?
This is Cooke Panchro classic.
Wow. Absolutely fantastic. Very impressed. The lighting and shots were perfect. What music did you use?
Thanks! This is Jordan Critz "Starry night"
Omg
Love your work. ❤️❤️❤️🔥🙏
Whin i see results it's goood
Not from someone who gives tips. And his work not that good
Its different when i learn from you
I hope u doing more videos with BTS
Much love
❤️
I had to watch it twice . It was so beautiful. The actors were outstanding and the story was captivating! Amazing job
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful story and work, Buddy. Well done 👏
@ANDBERY I’ve never seen you miss! This looks amazing. And as far as bts I’d love to see the preproduction, production, and postproduction!
Thanks man, I will do it!
it's amazing! Can you share the process of making this movie? For example Lighting, Color Granding process.
Sure, I will
damn!!!🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate!
did you find the footage much better compared to pocket 6k?
Andy where are you man???!! plz more and more like this cinmatic films, u know this films like a solefood
I try to make more videos :)
You are so talented
This is beautiful.. amazingly beautiful. Thank you.
lovely grade and lighting design set
Beautiful work guys! Which follow-focus system did you use ( Tilta nucleos M?) thx
Thank you! It was Tilta nucleos M.
good job.
Conclusion : letter box won't make your shot cinematic
Thanks!
Beautiful shots! But i had use different lights on the background.
Throughout there are some shots where you can see very noticeably really hard green edge on silhouettes (windows, talent, etc). What's causing it? Is it the camera? The panchros? The CC? Amazing video though
This is the problem of RED KOMODO. You can watch my previous video about Komodo. I had the same problem in the highlight area.
