Best Chicken Coop Video I have watched. Will be including a lot of your ideas when I get round to building ours. I will watch more of your videos. Many thanks for sharing your wisdom.
I am currently binge watching your videos and just want to say, thank you for making such a difference...for giving of your time and energy.
My grandmother had anywhere from 300 to 20 chickens over a period of 50 years. In the three different chicken houses that I remember, she used a lot of your techniques. Not crazy at all, she was absolutely ruthless about efficiency and knew everything from experience.
That was not “painfully long”. Rather, it was highly enjoyable! I’m pushing 70 now but when I was growing up on a small farm in the Swan River valley, we had chickens. I enjoyed feeding them with potato peelings every evening after supper. We fed them oats every morning. I also collected eggs. I have fond memories of the chickens, turkeys, pigs, horses and cows. Thank you kindly for making this video. By the way, you designed and built a terrific chicken coop. Why do chicken coops have 2 doors? If they had 4 doors, you would have to call them chicken sedans.....
Thank you for that comment . And thank you for sharing your memories. We really appreciate the interaction
That's the best thought out chicken house ive seen. Well done and thankyou for sharing
Your chicken psychology is cute..... I have had chickens for 45 years and I have learned from your designs.. love it.. love to you guys....
Glad to see y'all back with a new video. Sure enjoyed it.
Very informative and entertaining.
Excellent job on the chicken house! We really enjoy see videos that aren't about keeping up with other youtubers.
Make do with what you have is how we try to operate. 👍👍.

She is simply adorable. Good job, dude.
I love the 'chicken psychology' regarding the 'best' nesting boxes. Hilarious! Great video

Brings back memories I swear
The chicken whisperer!!!... Killer coop
I learn so much from you guys. Thanks for sharing!
Mrs. Carving A Path reminds me of Charlie Chapman. Awesome coop!
Completely understood your chicken psychology, outstanding. Really enjoying ya'lls videos and info. Some fine smithing...
Thanks for the chicken info. My niece has black chickens.
Awesome info . I built two coops out of scrap wood and wish I seen this video first. There are great ideas here ! Thanks for posting
Love your videos y'all. Keep them coming 🤠
Glad you have a door that you close for the night. We thought our chickens were safe, the wire was buried underground around the edges of the outdoor cage. However, the fox had found a way in from under the chickenhouse, digging a hole to the only unprotected side of the cage, as the house laid on stone fundation. There was a hole dug under the stone to the cage.
All except 7 of the 30 chickens were gone by the morning. Helpless to even run away, waiting for the fox to come back and to take another one. No matter how secure, that hatch is good to have.
Saddest is that they were like pets, attached to us, would perch on our knee to eat. We never killed them as they all did their fare share of work in laying eggs and deserved their retirement as well. It was extremely sad to lose all of them and I don't blame the fox for that..
Best of luck with your homestead :)
I have seen that happen to my neighbors chickens when I lived back east. That is terribly sad. Thank you for your well written comment we really appreciate the interaction

I must disagree with you my friend. That was not a painfully long walk through! In fact, I would have to say this was an excellent, very helpful walk through! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and knowledge.
From what you built, I got a few ideas of my own, not necessary better but different. I got this idea from yours since its so high in back that the bottom could swing down and then rake it off as well. Using that round pole idea, it could set in a notch from where you want it to swing down and on the end that does drop down use some lifting device as a way to raise floor back up easy. Also could be made divided so not as much to set back in place... it doesn't have to be structural, just hold that "waste" suspended until you pull the latch and it dropped down helping empty the "waste" off of it and then hose it off if you so wish. Just using some rounded poles for the flooring and some tin on top of it so the air didn't blow up through it making a bigger problem. More of a hands on thing than telling as it does lose in that part. Ya buddy, I like all of it and the "level playing field" keeping the higher archery of domination rooster problems down. I don't have a big vocabulary to describe stuff but I get confused heading for my own outhouse. I like it being on that bank like that and you and your very lovely lady have done your homework. I don't know what you have for tools to work with but getting where your at from a rucksack on your back speaks well of you'ns an should be very proud. I am seventy three and not once seen anything as handy as what you have. I know that chickens poop twenty four seven and so there is no sacred ground from what they can destroy quick. Good video
Poop chute is a good design
Great build. 👍
Very interesting video. Thank you.
Missed you guys 😀. Look forward to more.

Very good idea! Good job: Have a nice day.
Love it, want some more of it! Hopefully we will be doing this soon on our own homestead🙏🏻💯
Yay!!! It's about time! did u go with a different camera? The quality looks really good.
That is one heck of a chicken house 👍
She would be great on the price is right lol .
Brilliant design thinking throughout and especially like your solution to minimizing the "pecking order" conflicts; but as you described the thinking behind the roost, I wondered, are some of the chickens more equal than others? Great channel and I especially appreciate how you use that 8n. We'll be getting on some property soon and my plan is to get an 8N as well, just like my uncle had when I was growing up. Cheers!
Try to leave a egg shape snail shell in the nests, it's egg simulant. And you can collect all eggs avoid rotting
Dios te bendiga ricamente guerrera
Unlike my neaibors you Guys are smart enough to have a chicken house, these idiots are mad at the Hawks, owl, fox's or any other kinds of Wild Animals that enjoy their Buffet of chicken, go figure, Later yall.
She makes Vanna White look like an amature
Hey the pecking order is equal when you have a level roost .
my girls do not use nest boxes. They all cram their eggs into ONE corner of the coop.
We were born and raised in the suburbs, at 52 we decided to move out of town and buy 6 acres. City water and electric so hardly the hardships you have faced, but still a transition for us. Started out with chickens! Everything I knew about chickens I read from a book or off the Internet. Well, the chickens don't have wifi and can't read so they did everything the way THEY wanted to! LOL. Such funny creatures. We tried the literal free-range and got away with it for a while, but yeah, everything loves chicken, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, hawks. So now they have a compound and for damn sure we're always home at dusk to lock them up. I don't hunt and never shot anything before but raccoons killed two of our chickens and I shot two raccoons. So 2 and 2. I'm currently relocating our coop and you've given me some good ideas. We did learn early on that regardless of how many nesting boxes your'e "supposed" to have, the chickens will all fight over the same one! They say behind every great man is a woman...in your case a jaw-dropping beautiful woman who could probably kick the ass of most men if she helped you drag logs up and down a road. Damn. I'm sure turning letters on Wheel of Fortune is beneath her so good thing she has a homestead to run. Love you guys!
Thanks for leaving such a nice and interactive comment. We really appreciate you sharing your stories and experiences with us. We also appreciate that fact that you have taken the time to leave such a well written comment because everyone can read it and we can all share experience and information. Thanks again!
Nice coop! I had 20 turkeys once and a damn weasel got in it one night and killed all but 1 turkey. It ended up dying within a couple days.
I enjoy your videos.. may I ask what editing app are you using on your phone with your videos.? I have been trying to find a good one. Thanks..
We use a app called Videoshop. Here is a link.

We have used almost every app that there is available for both android and Apple. And this one by far is the one we like the best. Let us know what you think. And thanks for the positive feedback
Anytime you build something that may hit the ground , slightly burn the ends and it will create a barrier for moisture and as the Asians have shown it will lengthen the life of those post per a lifetime. Some of their buildings are over 100 years old.
How many roosters do you have for how many hands
We have about 45 Hens And two roosters.
Try using marsh grass instead of hay
