‘Lonely’ dolphin blamed for attacking beach goers in Japan

A spate of attacks on beachgoers in Japan’s Fukui prefecture has been blamed on a single dolphin that marine biologists believe has been acting out due to loneliness. A growing number of dolphin attacks has been reported during the summer of 2024, with at least 18 people injured by the lone dolphin. Authorities have warned tourists against trying to pet the marine mammals.

Its no surprise, in Japan they still hunt dolphins and whales for meat, this could be retaliation from a highly intelligent animal.
Don't forget that Faroe Islands do same on dolphins too

I believe that this creature is lonely and has memory of his loved ones caught in the yearly mass killings of dolphins in the coves. This one May have escaped and seen what happened. Intelligent animals can be vengeful. I hope they don’t hurt it. Those beautiful animals have so meaningful to so many cultures. ❤

Sad to see all the malicious stereotyped comments with full of prejudice. Warning people about a lost and potentially aggressive dolphin is not "blaming" the dolphin. There's no evidence that Japanese people separated this dolphin from its group. There is no reason to do something like that. To the person who wrote the article: animals are not always friendly and we never know when they will get aggressive toward human being. She is not a trained dolphin unlike you see in the aquarium or in UA-cam. Re-write the article after you went swimming in this beach next time a dolphin gets lost.
There is definitely evidence of Japan Whale fishing, even though internationally the entire world is against it, and also even before then, they were Illegally(Yes, illegally - even hiding it from their own population by claiming that the whales and dolphins were lowering the population of fish in the area so they needed to slaughter them) In facilities, collecting pods of Whales - Orcas , grey whales, Dolphins - and slaughtering them on the japanese shores.

What sort of deaths? If you mean human deaths then that is blatantly false. Sharks cause up to 100 a year while dolphins only cause a handful.
