Just discovered you today and already your advices are giving me a clear understanding on what I need to improve on. A lot of what I lacked in layups were explained in this vid. Thank you.
I have tryouts tomorrow. I tried out last year for jv as junior because I had no faith in making varsity. I’m confident in making the team I have the endurance and regular discipline I just need more skills. Senior year and I’m competing against former players on jv and varsity
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.....
Pay attention to what ur aiming for 👇 00:45 regular layup aim for top corner or right above the middle of the square 2:22 across layups, aim for right above regular middle of the square or the opposite top corner (will help you mentally compensate for the negative movement) add a thumb rotation 😀 4:45 goofy hand layup, finish tighter to the backboard, aim for the middle of the square 5:40 goofy hand reverse, aim for the opposite corner or right above the middle, pinky rotation 8:06 practice all the finishes, 10 reps each
This video really helps me, i always have trouble making lay ups on breakaways and just running at the rim in general i always miss it off the side of the rim
cocacola 7900 you can look for videos on how to use your left arm on layups and aply them to your right cuz most people have problems with the left arm.
Yo,I feel like I watched a video where u said to keep the elbow above eye level to get better arc and it really helped,I was wondering if u had a dedicated video to higher arcs, these freaks with the 40" verts are getting annoying
Thanks! I always think of things as equations, everything has to have an action for it to make sense to me. This really helps with my layups, before now I only had the footsteps in mind. My coach only talked about the footwork for layups, this confused me on how I should shoot as it felt awkward (left hand, I’m more dominant right handed, currently working on control with my less dominant hand).
Great video I love how you teach when to use each type of finish and proper amount of spin. With this video anyone can finish like Kyrie. Thank you 10/10!
Last 5 years: At rim Steph: 1017-1537= 66% Kyrie: 1023-1706= 60% Last 5 years: Layup Steph: 1080-1658=65% Irving: 1044-1807=58% and keep it mind curry primary is 3pt.
Doğu Çağrı Özarpacı yeah Kyrie takes more layups and his are contested a lot more often than Curry’s. Both are great finishers but simply looking at efficiency is misleading. That’s like saying Otto Porter and Klay are better shooters than Curry because of their 3 pt. percentage.
Then you need to go practice more in the gym, or if you have a goal at home. A video will not help you, you got to do what's comfortable to you when making a layup. This guy is doing the same thing, you could be shorter or maybe taller. Hit the small box IT WILL GO IN FIND YOUR COMFORT SPOT and do that.
The main difference is that your eyes are looking for an aiming point where to put the ball and a transparent backboard makes it difficult and irritates what our brain is used to with a solid backboard. Playing more often on courts with transparent backboards will get you used to it. Another thing is how backboards are mounted as through different setups they might tend to let the ball bounce more or less. Also something which you cannot simulate at your homecourt, so go train more often on different courts to get faster at adjusting to different backboards. Just my two cents...
Hey! Can u please make a video of how to finish soft off the glass?! One of the biggest issues with my layups is that I throw the ball up off the backboard too strong(unintentionally), thanks!
Hi coach I’m 13 and a 6 1/ 6 2 center and I got tryouts on the 16 th I’m suuuuuperr scared because when ever I’m in a game a choke wide open layups and miss open shot I literally practice those shots everyday and in pickup games and I make them there but when ever I’m in a organized game I choke those shots out of pure pressure do you have any tips or tricks I could do
Dont be scared and dont think about what if i miss, you have to tell yourself that you will hit every shot, dont think about pressure or stress, just play ball
When I try to run for a layup, and a person is in that spot, just do a floater when jump across from the free throw line away from the basket and still make it because I aim for the point above the square
➡ Hacks to score more around the rim: gethandles.com/finish
Kyrie Irving 100%

The paint is typically empty because of the warriors spacing, so curry gets the privelage of making wide open layups
Lol what a fanboy here! You should watch highlights or games.

As your say livingston is best 3pt shooter.

Great video coach that happens to me sometimes too I'm gonna look back at this video for the ball spin
Yeah, this is a great video to revisit. Lots of little tips for a lot of the different types of layups.
thanks coach really helped. im beating defenders but when I drive for the rim i miss the layup.

I'm so used to the metal backboard at the court near me that when I play on glass I keep missing thank you for the tips
Is it different with glass, 'cause I play with a metal backboard too

Just shoot the ball bro, if you miss, you missed oh well move on with your live
dont think just go do it
What about the all white backboards? I literally don't know where to aim on those ones.
Hidden Desire Id say imagine the lines
Coach how can I practice the spin in my hand?
He just said it I'm the video
Forget it if u don't have a lot of time to practice. My easy way is body workout, the higher u bounce, the easier layup will be.
This helped me a lot
Thank you so much im on the basketball team for my school and im always messing up doing lay ups so now imma remeber this vid and try to get better

thanks bro for this video
Kryie🔥🔥🔥
Sometimes i like to aim right after the middle of the square and give it a back spin
The professor
Aim for the corners. When doing reverse layups, aim for the corner while putting a spin on the basketball.
What I did is just leave the ball and toss it on the corner of the box.
Kyrie best finisher for sure
He's crazy!
@@GetHandles yep
Joel Charles yet Curry has higher percentage in all but the very center and Kyrie hasn't played in while
@@selassieaspen9940 numbers dont mean everything bro ,even a blind man knows kyrie is the best finisher in the game and got the craziest handles
Joel Charles no numbers mean everything in the finishing category, if you have same volume and you make more shots, it means your more efficient.
0:02 what I say when I miss the lay up
Kyrie 💯🤙🏼
He's crazy at using the glass!
