Just bought this as I'm starting roaccutane and need to step up my sunscreen game (I rarely wear it unless I'm on holiday I must admit). I generally really don't like the greasy feel and smell of sunscreen but this one is amazing! The best sunscreen I've ever used and will comfortably use everyday. So glad I gave it a go.

Thank you for doing an Altruist review i love it.
Been using it for some weeks and get no reaction. I love the fact the company supports the Under the same sun charity. Thats so cool
I stuck my thumbs up in the air when you talked about the charity.

I think 🤔 you’d get great support from your viewers and would also give you really big kudos and high coverage support in being a dermatologist too. Plus you have a fantastic platform for a project like this that would sit perfectly with what you do. Just a thought 💭 BTW you do a amazing job in highlighting the importance of sunscreen and no doubt you will be saving many lives from your good work. 👍🌎🐶

So cheap (5eur for 200ml) comparing to other sunscreens (smaller bottles of La Roche-posay or Vichy or Nivea go for 15-17 eur)! Great sunscreen. Can sting if apply too close to the eyes but I mostly use it on the body anyway. My daughter of 9 uses it and has never any problems.

I was wondering how you found the Altruist to be in terms of drying down. Do they stay shiny or do they dry matte? Hope you’re having a happy Sunday! 😊

Oh wow...oilfree, fragrance free and affordable...I‘m on board! And they sell it in a 1l container 🤗
I just can‘t afford high end products for the body and all the fragrance free drugstore products I‘ve tried so far are...ok, but not great. Because of the mentioned ‚stickiness‘. It doesn’t bother me too much in my free time, but it makes me very uncomfortable when I’m wearing business clothes. I just never feel fresh and clean when I‘m wearing sunscreen 🙁
I never knew about the albino thing. How horrible! So glad we’re even supporting a good cause by ordering this product 👍

However, the sunscreen has been balling up and clumping upon application upper body > lower body even when I literally stand and do nothing to reduce any friction or movement or anything really. I'm watching this video again after finally buying the altruist sunscreens, and they apply beautifully. Although at 8:34 you said you wish it includes TINOSORB S or Bemotrizinol, but isn't Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine just another name for it? I also read some research saying that "the degradation of Avobenzone can be accelerated by Titanium Oxide", so not sure about how the mix of these two affect the sun protection.

@Ivan Mixed feelings. I love it as a body sunscreen, definitely the best and most affordable option out there. Use it every day on my hands, arms, neck and shoulder area. For my face, even the spf 30 gets a tad too shiny for my liking. I understand some people actually like that effect, it kind of looks like you have highlighter on, but for me personally I like a matte look.
For my face I have stuck with Purito for now, which you can get from Stylevana at quite affordable prices, took 2 weeks to deliver to UK.

Great review as always so pleased you covered a U.K. sunscreen that you like and use it your self the big sized sunscreen looks like a winner and will last economically too. Great advice again and especially that this sunscreen also helps disadvantaged people with albinism. It’s so tragic how these people suffer from the damage UV rays and are outcast by others including witch doctors and other superstitious acts of evil. I’ve heard of some horrific stories that are too graphic to write about that these poor soles have been through. I will definitely look 👀 into getting this sunscreen that also helps to support a good cause. 😇

Hi Dr Dray! I am a medical student and I love your videos. Thank you so much for them, everything you explain is so helpful. I was wondering if you could do a video talking about your opinions and knowledge on hair removal both from the face as well as the body. Personally, I have a bit of a little peach fuzz over my upper lip and have tried threading and over the counter chemical hair removers. I have dark hair and a lighter skin tone so it stands out quite a bit. However, most of these hair removal methods have irritated my skin causing inflammation, acne, & then post inflamm hyperpigmentation. What would you suggest for people out there like me, who are having skin sensitivity issues with hair removal and what are the options out there available for it?

Dr Dray you had mentioned in a previous video that using soap in the shower, other than for your underarms, genitals or parts of the body that got dirty is unnecessary. I’m curious about how this impacts your skin long term with daily layering of sunscreens and moisturizers and the need for the skin to shed dead cells. Not sure if you have already addressed this is a previous video? Is there a need to regularly exfoliate the body skin ( not using aggressive or damaging products or loofahs)? How to you care for you body skin?

      Update:
I’ve gotten more used to the texture of this sunscreen. It’s not so bad anymore. It’s EXTREMELY waterproof, very tenacious. I use it while I swim.
Usually US sunscreens containing avobenzone sting my eyes like crazy but for some reason Altruist is okay. I don’t wear so much base makeup anymore so it’s much more tolerable that way. My face always gets a LOT more greasier and looks grosser when I wear makeup.
Sigh. Why must makeup be so difficult? But thanks to Dr. Dray & hydroquinone + tretinoin, I don’t feel the need to wear makeup anymore unless I’m goig somewhere special. So Altruist is pretty great day to day sunscreen.
With just minimal concealer and powder on top, it’s fine. It takes a while to dry down though. I also put on quite a lot. About two layers.
My skin does not tan at all with it. Which is hard to do because I tan very very easily due to having olive skin. I feel safer using High PPD sunscreens like altruist bc I get sunspots and hyperpigmentation spots super easily.
I’m still gonna buy and try the SPF 30. Looks like a cost-effective, great everyday sunscreen.
In conclusion: It’s not that bad if you don’t wear makeup. Just powder on top and it’s fine. You’re not gonna find as much protection from any US sunscreen like this.

Where do people submit questions for your Q&A? I was curious about your thoughts on silk pillowcases. People in the beauty industry are saying it's gentler on your hair and that it is less absorbent than a cotton pillowcase and therefore won't take off the expensive beauty products that you just put on your face. I recommend Dr. Jetske Ultee from the Netherlands, her skincare is all about the "without's". So her sunscreen is without Avobenzone and Octocrylene, fragrance- and alkoholfree. There are two lines of sunscreen, one non- profit with Niacinamide and the other one with more skincare benefits and more expensive. So everyone can afford to wear good sunscreen.
