This place is so sad. I think people often forget the sacrifices that the civilians made. Going about their daily lives, doing the best thy can to run businesses and raise families, only to have everything they know destroyed by war. Thank you Rob for sharing this. 😢
Reminds me of Winchester, Virginia. During the US Civil War, it changed hands about 70 times. Fortunately Winchester wasnt destroyed but some of the old buildings still have battle damage.
Excellent video, Rob. I cannot imagine the trauma that the people of Fleury endured with the death, violence, destruction, and gas. It is heartbreaking, especially with the monuments marking where the school was as well as where the baker worked. So much loss and pain.
Great video again.
Yes a very sad place
@@historyinyourhand1787 Definitely. I could feel the sadness as I watched the video. I imagine it must've been difficult to walk through there.
Dang. Ol' History Underground was first for this one. Fleury is a heck of a place.
Ha - you beat me to the actual place too!
You were first everywhere JD. The rest of us are playing catch up 😂
The destruction is so cruel of WW1. This place really shows that well. Great video!
👊
Very interesting site to visit. Glad folks had the foresight to create what is there today. Enjoy your channel and look forward to the next upload.
Great video! Seems like a sad place even today
So sad
👍👍damm good video
What a terrible story you just shared. So hard to believe stories just as this were repeated again 20 years later.
