Now that's what I call a leather specialist! Lots of good informations in there! I'd love to see a video with some oil based dye too.

Those are some very good tips. Regarding the small dye bottles, anytime I have the lid off of one, I set it inside a small, flat bottomed tea cup. It helps to contain dye drippings from the dauber, and to lessen the chance of accidentally knocking it over. I've bumped the dye bottle plenty of times, hard enough to potentially spill the entire thing over(followed by obscenities), and it just stays put inside the tea cup.

I use the Feibings pro dye and use yellow to dye a part, then I come back with mahogany antique finish and it turns a nice light reddish brown. Use yellow to keep from getting too dark of a brown.

Is there any videos on dyeing leather one color and having letters stamped in with a different color?

try carefully dripping dye into the indent of the stamp and let it dry. then cover it and dye the rest of the leather

Seems that alcohol dye is a poor choice. Everytime I see it used there are more reasons not to use it

Alcohol dye is one of those old-school staples that people have just been trying to work with the best they can for.. ever... Personally, the new eco flow water based dye/ stains are FAR easier imho to apply evenly... That said... knowing how to apply alcohol dyes well IS still a very useful skill to have leather work wise, as a LOT of leather work businesses and solo leather workers have scores of all that old-schoool alcohol dye on their shelves.. I know I certainly do from way back before water based dyes were even available. The colors are notoriously dark.. but.. it's also pretty neat to see how people have managed to mitigate it's quick absorption and intense pigmentation " issues... Being a painter as well.. honestly it's really ironic that "too much" pigment" is such an issue for leather dye.. considering with paint.. the cheapest variety of paint means that the pigment load is FAR too little and you've essentially wasted your money. Troublesome as it is with alcohol dyes.. more pigment is definitely better than not enough.. trust me..
