Loved this tour, and seeing the car in use too. I got my very first speeding ticket ever, this year, and was mortified! I was doing 36 in a 30, and mistakenly thought I was in a 40 limit. The speed awareness course was fabulous. I deliberately chose ‘in person’ and the tutors were so interesting. It was in a hotel and the tutors shouted out in reception “everyone for the advanced driving course follow me. 🤣”. Thank you for great videos
I think your product reviews are honest and very comprehensive. You obviously put a lot of work into producing them. Don't listen to the moaners. Some people will never be satisfied.
I visited Orkney in May and stayed at Pickaquoy. Useful site close to the centre of Kirkwall but find the departure time of 10am rather early. I preferred the Stromness and Birsay sites although they also require leaving by 10am. I love Morvich.
Looks like another fab tour ahead for you guys. I'm just back from Orkney and stayed at Pickaquoy, facilities are great with big individual cubicles it's a great base to explore Kirkwall and further afield. The dog friendly Storehouse restaurant in Kirkwall was also a highlight as was Robertson's coffee house in St Margaret's Hope, booking advisable for both. Looking forward to following you on your next adventure.
Wooooo Bob 50 Years with no ticket.... That's just Excellent. If we all could say we had such a good record... As to your reviews.... You are very good at doing them. We have discovered really good sites and items by following your channel.... Thank you to both of you....
Hi Bob Jenny and Poppy. We have just purchased our first Motorhome. It's quite old, and we are working to make it look great. We found your channel whilst scrolling looking for help!!! ,We wanted to say, the hints tips, advice, visits away and product reviews have been invaluable to us. Please keep up the great work. Kim and Leon .. ps my husband has just brought one of your t shirts 😂.
We stayed at The Crofter’s Snug for one night, last year. Such a beautiful position. The owners are lovely. There where dozens of seals on the beach (turn left out of the site and, where the road goes round to the left, go straight ahead down the footpath to the beach), and we saw some orcas swimming past, so keep your eyes peeled. 😊 have fun! Suzie and Alan.
You guys are great and I love this channel. I've been with you many years now and will continue to do so. Speeding happens, we all do it. Take care and keep up the amazing work.
Bob, I got stopped about 12 years ago doing 35 in a 30 zone outside Chester. I was really annoyed with myself. I got a speed awareness course and went to it thinking ‘this will be rubbish’. It was one of the most positive experiences Ive ever had and I am a much safer driver since. Bad habits were creeping in and it was a good reset. I think you’ll be fine and you’ll probably find that your driving will be safer after it. Good luck.
Hi Bob just wanted to say out of all the u tubers that we’re subscribed to who do reviews on products your one of the best. in fact my partner and I were just talking about it a few nights ago and we were saying Bobs one of the best product reviewers . Keep up the good work both of you 👍 Look forward to your next vids and great that tara’s coming on board soon . We love to see her and poppy together their so cute and funny.
When you go to Orkney, we can highly recommend Skerries Bistro, amazing fresh seafood and famous for their cheesecake pudding which is amazing! Do normal food too! Lovely outlook across the pentland firth and easy Motorhome parking. Have visited several times. Near to tomb of the eagles site. Also community cafe at fossil centre does good food and near to the cl that you are staying on. Sheila Fleet Kirk Gallery & Cafe is also a great place for lunch! So many lovely places to see and visit on Orkney! I really hope you enjoy your trip!
I bought a Thule Vivo Compact 2 last August and use it on the back of my Range Rover. When I ordered the motorhome last oct they gave me a bike rack but you are right, I will probably not put my electric bike on it. I bought the Thule on eBay new from a a Volvo dealer . I paid £300 instead of over £500 for the generic Thule. There is no difference. It’s a brilliant piece of kit. When I eventually get delivery of the motorhome I will mount the Thule on my tow bar.
We to have had multiple discussions around what to go for next after 6 years with our current set up so its nice to see others having the same discussions. We have had e bikes now for 6 years and used a top spec transit van to tow our caravan which made transportation and safe storage of the bikes really easy keeping them dry when towing and away from prying eyes when on site. It also gave us tons of storage for the plethora of equpment we inevitability took with us as we like to pitch for an up on site for an extended period and really explore the area. We couldn't justify spending £35,000 on a new van and couldn't find a motorhome that gave us the space that we had been accustomed to in the caravan with a layout that suited us both. The solution? We now leave the bikes at home, which is a shame, and use a nice powerful car loaded with comfort and spec to tow and enjoy walking and sussing out local transport links to get us about when on site. , I really enjoy your channel and have used your arriving at videos mutiple times to familiarise ourselves with the approach to site prior to leaving home, Incleboro and Barnard Castle being the two most recent ones. Keep up the good work and watch that speed. 😂😂
Thanks for the comments. I also think that stuff automatically finds the space you do have! I wonder if you can take your e-bikes on the car roof or that too much weight?
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Too heavy to lift onto the roof, even with the battery removed I'm afraid. We have also purchased the Thule 2 bike carrier that fits directly onto the towbar which still gives us options to take the bikes away when we are at home or not using the caravan.
Hi Bob and Jenny. Very nice MalibuT460 LE arriving soon at Oakwell Motorhomes. (£104,620). Not sure it meets your spec but very nice van. I cannot speak to highly about the built quality but you do only get a 2 year warranty.
Thanks for the update Bob. Agree with Jenny the Malibu 490 LE is lovely but expensive. Just got back from 90 days abroad and got as far as Istanbul via Romania and Bulgaria and back through Greece the ferry to Italy
The Isle of White looked really lovely. With reference to the speeding ticket, I did the same by looking at scenery. The speed awareness course is good and shows you why it is very important to not speed, but we all make mistakes and learn from them. I hope you have better luck than I have had, every time I’ve been to Oban it rains every single day. 🤞I like your honesty with the reviews.
Sorry to hear about the MOT fail and the speeding fine. I learnt a lot when I went on my speed awareness course. I think your product reviews are authentic. The only problem is I keep on buying them 😂😂. Thankfully everything thing I’ve purchased has indeed been excellent. I’m looking forward to watching your Scotland tour. I’m trying to plan one for us next year so this will bring me much needed ideas. You are both brilliant at what you and your vlogs bring inspiration. Take care Gill
Bob Jenny a great review video and so glad you all enjoyed the IOW we did as well and want to go back I also got caught I was doing 33 in a 30 and I was asked to do a course which I found very useful and gave me some good advice and refresher guidance I am much more careful now I also told the insurance who were brilliant Sorry to hear about the car hope all is well best wishes to you both daniel
Thanks for the great video. I'm amazed that you got a speeding ticket on the IOW, that's quite an achievement on those roads! I think, if there is a fine, you should be able to pay it in Pounds Shillings and Pence !
Same with myself, 50 miles an hour speed limit, down to 30 miles an hour, up to 40 miles an hour , back down to thirty miles an hour, all within 500 yards. Even saw the guy with his " money gun " and didn't think to slow down as I thought I was still within the limit, wrong, nobbled me , speed awareness course £90 must say a very good experience, learnt quite a lot .
Shame about the ticket, chalk it up to experience & don’t beat yourself up! We’ve just stayed at Morvich, top tip for you, take a pitch on the left hand side of the reception, less bushes, so less midges 😂. Chippy van on Wednesday 😁 We love Ballater campsite, it’s my favourite ❤️ we’re hanging around at Aberlour atm waiting for a pitch at Ballater after the weekend. 😎. The Brown Sugar Cafe is lovely in Ballater. Levelling chicks are a must at Ardtower,, fabulous views 😎 We used to have a season pitch at Greenacres, lovely site & Mike & Josie are lovely 😎 Fill up at Asda Carlisle fairly easy to get to from the GA. You might want to leave your air con at home and bring a canoe 🛶 🌧️ 🌧️ 😂😂 When is your trip, we’re up here for some time yet 😎 Jenny, I admire you, I get terrible seasick and I just can’t bring myself to go on a boat & id really love to see the outer Hebrides. You may even inspire me to be brave 😁 Em 💜
I have the same issue with our avtex tourer two as well I didn’t quite understand how you did the update did you use a laptop or just fit the card and use Wi-Fi,thank you for your time Graham
John got a speeding fine on the A64 in the van, he did not know it is 10mph less for vans on the dual carriage way but his course was pay the money and get no points on his license but if you get caught again within 5 years automaticaly get points, so it is a learning curve. Look forward to seeing tara on her holidays
Yes, at least with a swift, the hab door is on our side, not keen on dinette (we like double sofas) plus you get everything included (awning etc) definitely like having the car with us same as you it's sooo handy to have. We have the kontiki 884 perfect layout for you both (perhaps bed a little high for jenny) great garage, brilliant payload, so much storage but it is 9 mtrs, it just has everything ( you'll be surprised how much you'll get part ex for yours Bob!! Can't wait to see you next travels both, I love the product reviews and find your honesty on the button. Carry on the great work both. XX
@BobEarnshawMoHo thanks for the reply, yes he's a big bus that we keep in storage, our 7 mtr used to fit on the drive. Well good luck I'm sure you'll find something that'll match you needs. We're currently at a wet Moreton in Marsh club site. Take care both xx
Oh crikey, you were probably one of the last people I would have expected to get a speeding ticket - sorry to hear that - how annoying but easily done. Isle of White looked good. Must do that one day. Enjoy your upcoming trip - sounds great with some excellent sites. It’s surprising how much space you save having bikes on the back rather than inside as I was carrying MiRider inside as got a bit spooked and worried on theft after a trip and got a similar one (Atera Strada DL3 Sliding Bike Rack) and with the stuff Trev from Poshcats (cover and stretchy net) recommended felt much more secure and was grateful of not needing to move it around inside as left it on front seat usually. The prices are bonkers aren’t they - common sense says it should rationalise in the next couple of years but unlikely to be as it was but cost to change is the key thing isn’t it. All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
I need at least three seats, so a Smart Car has not been an option. We've seen @poshcatscamping foldable beds, they look good, but we worry that Poppy would not take to it. She loves her Ferplas crate, her little hideaway!
Another enjoyable video from you, well done. You have mentioned Jenny's sea sickness before so why not buy a packet of Stugeron tablets which cost around £4. Take a tablet around a couple of hours before your crossing and see if this helps. We used to go on cruises and my wife suffered from sea sickness until we came across this product. From then onwards problem solved. With regard to your trip, we went through Balater on our Scotland tour at the end of May/early June. I don't know if you would need to take the mh into Ballater from the caravan park but if you do then the main car park in the middle of the town is easy to park in. We really like Ballater. It is a very nice place. We also stayed at Ardtower Caravan Park on our tour. We took the bus (new fully electric vehicles) into Inverness. The bus times seem to be a little different from the times that we were given at the caravan park. The bus into Inverness leaves about 5 minutes EARLIER than shown and the return bus seems to be around 5 minutes later than shown. Hope you have an enjoyable trip. I'm sure you will.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo - Your spreadsheet with cost elements got me working out one for us. 18 nights away for an average of £88.50 per night that covers fuel, all food (eating out and in Bessie), visits to Longleat etc, site fees and return ferry crossing. On this last point we used Red Funnel from Southampton and their 10night camping offer. Ferry for car and folding camper was £148 return and site fees £229 for the 10 nights. Understand the offer is up for renewal before next year and word is it might not get renewed or discount will be reduced.
hi Bob & Jenny if you ever plan on returning to the Isle of Wight why not consider the Red Funnel Touring and Camping package it runs up to the end of July then continues from the end of August, you have a choice of 4 good sites pitch fee, up to 4 passengers and vehicle crossing, they do 3/5/10 night packages. in 2021 late July we did the 5 night package 3 people car & caravan all inclusive for £210 we stayed at The Orchards .This year it is currently £252 usually early in the year they have a window where you can book at the previous years tariff, i hope you find this info of use.
Love Rosemarkie, been many times. Our all time favourite after Bunree is Green acres. We would love to go to Orkney but have a caravan and not sure about taking it on a ferry. Enjoy your tour and I look forward to watching your videos
Good video once again. Refreshing to watch you two making these as I don't feel you've got any hidden agendas. PS spend the extra money on your travels and enjoy.
You will absolutely love Ballater. It’s one of our favourite sites with a lovely walk along the river and golf course. We actually get to walk the site dog when we are there. It’s brilliant. What date will you be there?
Sorry. I totally understand. I would have visited Ballater to come and say hello. Enjoy your trip away and I look forward to seeing how you get on in Ballater. Thank you.
I know what you mean about the layouts are all the same, it the same with caravans. we have 2015 Lunar Clubman ES, 4 berth side dinette end bathroom. we were thinking of changing as we have had it from new, but there are only 2 models with this layout available at the moment, none of which we like, so we are keep what we have for the moment. looking forward to the Scottish tour. off to the I of W tomorrow (sat), thanks for the heads up about speeding cameras.
It’s a dilemma deciding whether you want storage or layout and one like you we have mulled over many times. We have an elddis 285 twin beds rear loo like yours and we love it but the storage is limited (we have taken out the travel seats which gives us 50kg more storage) the van is up plated to 3700 but the extra is on the front axle so the rear is still 2000kg and we were packed this year to got to France with out 2 e-bikes on a tow bar mounted carrier but when we weighted it it was 30kg over in the rear axle so ended up taking the bikes off and leaving them at home. We do have an iforwilliams bv64e box trailer that we can get both bikes in and other bits and bobs for a long trip but I have also taken the controversial decision to take off the spare wheel and carrier which is 40kg and bought a tyre repair kit which a lot of motorhomes seem to be getting these days which will let us take the bikes on the carrier rather than the trailer. It will be interesting to see which route you take if and when you change vans.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo I agree but there are people out there who don’t seem to care or have any idea. There was a van at Garliston last year with 2 adults 2 teenagers 4 bikes 4 canoes and loads of other stuff jammed in their garage, my first thought was they have to be overloaded but they didn’t seem to care or didn’t know. It’s about time the manufacturers started to make it a bit more obvious about weight limits so people don’t just see all this storage and just fill it with everything they want.
Saphe Mini Drive Speed Detector Bob from Halfords £49.99, tiny little thing works off Phone App, set diff alerts for different Hazards, Speed, black spot, Temp Lights , has a update feature where you can add if found a new Hazard thats not alerted you..nice litle thing ,size of a small box of Matches, usb chargeable , charge lasts such a long time ...shown on YT 👍
Bob, you won't look back with a tow-bar mounted bike rack. We have a Thule, folding one and electric bikes. It now takes a few minutes to load each bike - previously, it was a real struggle lifting them onto the Fiamma rack which was chest high. Would be interested to know your views on the new Green Acres (Tranquil Parks) shower facilities - we think they are the best we've come across anywhere!
@@BobEarnshawMoHoyou will be amazed by the new toilet block. You definitely need a garage and more payload to carry all those free bikes, power stations and air conditioning units. Keep up the reviews and ignore the keyboard warriors they are just jealous.
Did you buy food from supermarkets etc? as i can't see that on you're breakdown. We fancied the isle of wight for next year, but from you're first film no where seemed to allow dogs etc x
Hi Bob, You should get yourself a good Dash Cam with built in traffic camera warnings, It will alert you well before you get to any fixed camera. I find it helpful especially when like you not concentration which is easy at my age, It's so easy to creep over the thirty with the modern vehicles we have now a days, plus some insurance company's will give you a slight discount on your annual vehicle insurance if you have one fitted , which is a bonus. Cheers Bill. PS. I never break the speed limit anyway.
Hi Bob, just rewatched this as something similar has just happed to me. I have never had a speeding ticket in my driving career of over 45 years. I have just got a Ford Transit Custom Nugget. Not a huge vehicle, however I believed that it had the same speed limits as a car. I was doing 57 in a 60mph single carriageway. I’ve just got an intention to prosecute for doing 57. My V5 states it’s a private vehicle and a Motor Caravan. The notice states it’s a manned goods vehicle. I’ve looked on the Govt. website and it states if the vehicle is more than 3.05 tonnes max. Unladen weight it’s 50mph on a 60. Although my V5 says the van is a revenue weight of 3240kg that is max. the mass in service is 2643kg. So I’m assuming it is the lower weight as it is “unladen”. I’m guessing I will be able to challenge it at some point.
Speed limits for motorhomes are based on unladen weights, which is crazy. I did do a video about speed limits, a while ago. You should contest it because your unladen weight can't be more than 3.05 tonnes especially if you're registered as a motorcaravan. The convertor should be able to tell you the unladen weight, unless they assume it's the same as mass in service.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Many thanks for the link Bob. I can’t find a figure relating to unladen weight but I have found on the V5 a figure called “Mass in service” which is 2643kg. I am assuming this is a figure on the road. This is nowhere near the 3.05tonnes for the lower speed limit. The Nugget does have a Maximum Permissable Weight of 3240kg but as stated it is unladen not laden that governs the speed limits. Hopefully when I challenge the ticket this will be accepted.
We are like you looking at a new van at the moment. Our local dealer said that any trade in price she gave us will be very disappointing to us and really the only way to get a decent price was to sell privately. She said they are restricted to only use Glasses Guide and the trade in prices have not increased in line with the general market and are an embarrassment for her to offer.
I'm thinking of purchasing a motorhome, though it will be wild camping in a motorhome 😊 will have a portable generator, etc. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday 🎉 I had a speedy ticket for 35mph with 4 litres of blood in the car going to a hospital for blood transfusion 😢 Course is rubbish
I have an MX5, although it doesn't do many miles, it is 19 years old. I have never changed the brake fluid in it. It just passed it's MOT today with no advisories and the brakes were a.o.k. and stop me perfectly.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic, the moisture absorbed can lower the boiling point of the oil which can make the braking feel spongey. It can also cause corrosion in the brake system
Hi I don’t make many comments, but I felt I have to say if your reviewing something I’m interested in for us, I always look to see if you’ve done a video on it, as I appreciate your honesty, & point to detail. With everyday expenses we have to be very pound wise, & I trust your opinion, so a big thank you.🥰
A couple I know bought a Hymer Exsis-t 580 Pure & and carry e-bikes in the garage, 2 single beds I believe not sure about the Lounge. I’m sure you are probably aware of this already knowing how many vans you have reviewed! 👍
Great video from both of you and loads of great info. We are having a similar dilemma re towing a car, we want to buy a specific car for towing but the closest places are Grimsby or Wales, we live in Kent. I also really need to check if we are ok to tow after hearing you mention the Adamo and its low towing capacity. We have a Swift Bessacarr E510. I thought our max towing weight was 1400 kg?? Anyway keep up the great videos, I don't mind the product reviews ;-) Rgds Gary (and Julie).
It's the Ford chassis that is the limiting factor with a low Gross Train Weight of 4250kg. Most Ducato/Relay/Boxer based vans have a much higher Gross Train Weight. Our own has a GTW of 5500kg!
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Oh that's good to know. I was looking at a Hyundai i10 because I need a big enough car for solo trips etc. Not your average tow car but I am not an average guy ha ha. Thanks for the quick response. All the best to you both, Gary
Hi. Why change? you said yourself probably end up keeping yours. Don't give up the C3 licence.I did and regret it. Maybe too many reviews are hard work, but how are we going to know what suits us without watching reviews?
Sorry Bob you keep doing the reviews, because you're so honest you've gained the respect of newbies like me I know bull when I hear it and that's never you
My father got his only speeding ticket at 88 doing 36 and he was so ashamed by it but it is easy to loose your licence on the IOW as I have never seen so many cameras and mobile cameras . Bob just check if the bike rack lighting on a motorhome is legal as I thought the rear light has to be within 400 mm to the outside of the vehicle as they are designed for motor cars . Are you taking the car to Orkney ?
Glad you are thinking of leaving your car behind. It should result in greater emphasis on walking, cycling and using public transport. You can get just about everywhere by bus on the IOW and if you're over the state pension age as you are Bob, its free. Dogs are also free but they need to be well behaved. We've had many good days out using local buses.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Understood. We enjoyed watching your IOW videos as we do your other videos. However, the places you visited on the IOW could all be reached by bus and had you taken a bike instead of your car, you would have been able to explore the excellent cycleway between Sandown and Cowes. There is also good walking from the site which I don't think you covered. My point was that if you don't take a car, you will put more emphasis on walking and cycling from the site and the use of public transport, which IMO is a good thing. None of this is meant as a criticism.
Whilst it's very commendable to use public transport and walk everywhere, it would have been over an hour on the bus to Osborne House, a ten minute walk to the bus and back, most days it was 28C, not very good for Poppy. A round trip of nearly three hours. Additionally dogs may travel on public transport, but it is at the discretion of the driver. It would leave less time for filming and edit, something many viewers don't have to do. In the end we were glad to have taken the car.
@BobEarnshawMoHo Agreed more in direct response to your concerns with product reviews not being for everyone. As we know there are some in your peer group that go too far and start alienating their core followers and losing credibility. You've got it about right thus far.
Unlucky with the speeding ticket Bob but the mileage you guys do its going to happen mate. My neighbour just got one and he's going to the course and it's £130?
I really don't see that a caravan solves our issues. We don't want the extra messing about when we arrive on site. We love the flexibility that a motorhome gives us. Both our vehicles have an engine and we can drive and maneuver them independently, we don't need a large car at home.
Carnt see the extra as you say messing around you have to level van , fill up with water and plug into electric same as caravan . Then you have the faff with your tow vehicle . Carnt see why you think motor home is an advantage . And Bob you would have far more space for poppy X
Sorry, but a motorhome is far more flexible, it can act like a caravan when we take the car, but it can also take you places you wouldn't take a caravan. We like going to National Trust properties, where we park up, visit the property and come back to the Motorhome when we get tired. We can take it to outside events, park up and enjoy our own food, we can stop on the motorway, pop the kettle on, have a snooze on the bed, go out for the day and everything is with us, cameras, food and importantly toilet. And, as many have said it's easier to tow a small car with a big van than the other way around. Not only that, but the car and motorhome can take each other to and from a service!
Interesting what you said about reviews. I can understand entirely what you mean here. Now from the other side as someone who watches the videos I am sick to the teeth of them. So I can see it from 2 angles. One comment I would make, and this doesn't necessary apply to you, but I wish when its a heavy item that the person doing the review would quote the weight. Some do. Its so important when you are limited to 3.500t. You can, so quickly come unstuck on gross weight or the one people forget, axle weights, which is just as important. I must say not sure if you do or not give the weight. Take a power bank and an electric bike and very quickly you'll in trouble. Sorry if I have gone on a bit but I was 25 yrs in road haulage. Take care.
Great update. Fascinating Bob and Jenny. Bad luck on the speeding fine and good luck with the speed awareness course! They’re not much fun Bob. 😬 So looking forward to your Scottish trip - when you go to see the Dolphins, check the tide times. The Dolphins feed just as the tide starts to come in - pushes the salmon into the estuary. At other times you may see them but may well be unlucky. ua-cam.com/video/xE6qTEDA_BI/v-deo.html Prices are giving us all a real conundrum- but maybe a bit of evidence that prices are finally stabilising. Hi bob could you tell me what journey planner Jenny uses
Google My Maps and AA Route planner
Another informative vlog ... keep up the good work
I personally don't like product reviews but understand why you have to do it ..
A storage box fitted on the back of the van is a handy edition but again it depends on your needs and wants.🙂
We did have a fiamma box on our Starfire a few years ago.
Absolutely love watching you guys, keep doing what you do best and ignore the keyboard warriors
Thanks so much
We to have had multiple discussions around what to go for next after 6 years with our current set up so its nice to see others having the same discussions. We now leave the bikes at home, which is a shame, and use a nice powerful car loaded with comfort and spec to tow and enjoy walking and sussing out local transport links to get us about when on site. ,
I really enjoy your channel and have used your arriving at videos mutiple times to familiarise ourselves with the approach to site prior to leaving home, Incleboro and Barnard Castle being the two most recent ones.
Yes that's the problem, the weight.
Hi Bob and Jenny. Very nice MalibuT460 LE arriving soon at Oakwell Motorhomes. (£104,620). Not sure it meets your spec but very nice van. I cannot speak to highly about the built quality but you do only get a 2 year warranty.
Slightly smaller than the 490, but very nice. We borrowed a I430, which was too cramped for our linking.
Thanks for the update Bob. Agree with Jenny the Malibu 490 LE is lovely but expensive. Just got back from 90 days abroad and got as far as Istanbul via Romania and Bulgaria and back through Greece the ferry to Italy
Oh wow, that was some trip!
Easy to get distracted by the scenery on the IOW 😊
Sorry to hear about the MOT fail and the speeding fine. I learnt a lot when I went on my speed awareness course. I think your product reviews are authentic. The only problem is I keep on buying them 😂😂. Thankfully everything thing I’ve purchased has indeed been excellent. I’m looking forward to watching your Scotland tour. I’m trying to plan one for us next year so this will bring me much needed ideas. You are both brilliant at what you and your vlogs bring inspiration. Take care Gill
Thanks 👍
Bob Jenny a great review video and so glad you all enjoyed the IOW we did as well and want to go back
I also got caught I was doing 33 in a 30 and I was asked to do a course which I found very useful and gave me some good advice and refresher guidance I am much more careful now I also told the insurance who were brilliant
Sorry to hear about the car hope all is well best wishes to you both daniel
Thanks, that's a surprise at 33mph. Good to hear about the course though.
I begin to wonder if I'd should drive everywhere on smaller roads at 27 mph!
Ballater is nice, about an hour away from me, you are adjacent to the river Dee, you might like to visit Balmoral.
Yes, think we will.
Top Tips there Em especially about the bushes.
I’m going to enjoy your Orkney tour I toured Scotland and the Orkney’s by Motorcycle back in the late 70s so it might bring back some memories
That must have been some trip!
I’m not a fan of products reviews but don’t get how anyone can be mean to you too. How awful. You are both so lovely and genuine. ❤
Thank you.
I have the same issue with our avtex tourer two as well I didn’t quite understand how you did the update did you use a laptop or just fit the card and use Wi-Fi,thank you for your time Graham
I had to download Garmin Express and update from my Laptop on USB with a 32GB SD card inserted.
Thank you very much for your reply
John got a speeding fine on the A64 in the van, he did not know it is 10mph less for vans on the dual carriage way but his course was pay the money and get no points on his license but if you get caught again within 5 years automaticaly get points, so it is a learning curve. Look forward to seeing tara on her holidays
A lot of people don't know the speeds limits, especially for motorhomes.
Look forward to following you to the Orkney islands as we have been talking about going there.x
XX
Thank you, we would love the 884, but not a twin axle or the length in our drive!
I must check with Trev, I have a bike cover but it's a bit old.
Remember the smidge for Morvich! Hope you don’t need it.
And the midge hats!
Bob you do not have to inform the Insurance company, unless they ask. You'll learn that at the course. Stay safe and enjoy.
Actually correct. And with data protection they have no way of finding out
Bob, have you looked at getting a Smart car. Lighter than the UP? We use foldable dog crates which pack away nicely on site in front the swivel seats.
Thanks for the tips, not heard of those tablets, looking forward to Ballater. Electric buses into Inverness sounds good.
@BobEarnshawMoHo I take those for rough ferry trips too
Slap on the wrist Bob, easily done with those sneaky cameras . Love your reviews always honest and reliable ,looking forward to more
Love the IOW and try to go every year. Some places like Osborne House we go to each time and even staying 10 nights there’s so many places to visit.
Yes, we loved it there.
Thanks, we did look at going via Southampton, but I think we liked the shorter crossing from Lymington.
Can I ask you how you planned/plotted and displayed the map that you showed for your Orkney trip please?
We use Google My Maps to produce the map and then record us looking at it with OBS Studio software.
Love Rosemarkie, been many times. Our all time favourite after Bunree is Green acres. We would love to go to Orkney but have a caravan and not sure about taking it on a ferry. Enjoy your tour and I look forward to watching your videos
A caravan would be fine, have a look at Pentland ferries. Our friends Bob and Aileen took their caravan to Arran, North Uist and Harris.
We are looking to take our caravan on Pentland Ferries too.
Snap I had the same problem with the sat nav, and I to put a 64gb card in. But had to go and buy a 32gb card.
Yay! Tara! Lovely for Poppy as well as yourselves of course.
Good video once again. Refreshing to watch you two making these as I don't feel you've got any hidden agendas. PS spend the extra money on your travels and enjoy.
That's the plan! 😀
You will absolutely love Ballater. It’s one of our favourite sites with a lovely walk along the river and golf course. We actually get to walk the site dog when we are there. It’s brilliant. What date will you be there?
Thanks for the tips. Sorry but we don't publish when we will be somewhere for security reasons.
Sorry. I totally understand. I would have visited Ballater to come and say hello. Enjoy your trip away and I look forward to seeing how you get on in Ballater. Thank you.
For the ferry crossing start taking ginger tablets daily a couple of weeks before you go, very good for travel sickness
Jenny did take some ginger tablets and wore the sea band.
My speed awareness course when we get home!
I still have my thule bike rack if you want it. How much does your electric bike weigh?
Thanks, but I've bought a Thule Velo Compact now. The Fiido weighs 17kg, quite light for an electric bike.
We will watching your Orkney trip with interest as it is something we would like to do. Keep the vlogs coming we enjoy them.
Yes, that's a similar layout to ours. I have now bought a bike rack, but I'm taking just the one Fiido ebike. Even with garages payload is a concern.
I should have listened to my sat nav bleeping at me!
@@BobEarnshawMoHo but you dont use your Sat Nav to Run local esp not in the Car
I always have the sat nav on in the motorhome, it beeps to warn about speed limit areas. The car sat nav shouts BEWARE watch your speed. 😬
Yes that site looks interesting.
We stopped including food in our costs because we spend about the same if we're at home. It's no worse than anywhere else with dogs.
We took our travel seats out got extra storage and extra pay load
Hi Bob, You should get yourself a good Dash Cam with built in traffic camera warnings, It will alert you well before you get to any fixed camera. I find it helpful especially when like you not concentration which is easy at my age, It's so easy to creep over the thirty with the modern vehicles we have now a days, plus some insurance company's will give you a slight discount on your annual vehicle insurance if you have one fitted , which is a bonus.
Cheers Bill. PS. I never break the speed limit anyway.
If I had listened to Mrs Sat Nag's beeps I would have known!
Luv the IoW and The Orchards. Don’t beat yourself up over the speeding ticket it’s easily done.
No, I'm just trying to be more careful.
Oopsie!
The Orkney trip looks fabulous. Very jealous!
You will love Rosemarkie, its our favourite site in Scotland, always have to book early as its very popular.
Thank, already booed!
If you were to get an adamo which model would you consider in the range.
This one ua-cam.com/video/DJc9QzlAnBU/v-deo.html
@@BobEarnshawMoHo That’s where I’m confused as my mass in service is well below3.05tonnes. Have you a link to that video please?
Here you are ua-cam.com/video/V_6xwBJB2Z4/v-deo.htmlsi=Cc6FEYNvQ-RaCSgK
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Many thanks for the link Bob. I can’t find a figure relating to unladen weight but I have found on the V5 a figure called “Mass in service” which is 2643kg. I am assuming this is a figure on the road. This is nowhere near the 3.05tonnes for the lower speed limit. The Nugget does have a Maximum Permissable Weight of 3240kg but as stated it is unladen not laden that governs the speed limits. Hopefully when I challenge the ticket this will be accepted.
Enjoy Orkney, we love it there and need another trip soon. We prefer the Ghylls bay ferry route.
The model railway is at godshill by the old smithy
Something for next time!
That's interesting, thanks.
We bought The Exsis 588 for the garage and 600kg payload, also if we needed extra payload it’s reasonably easy to up plate it
Thanks, think we've looked at the Exsis, but not keen on the layouts.
i like it when you do the products as you say what you think dont go the way of the rest of them as they are all fake thank you both
I'm thinking of purchasing a motorhome, though it will be wild camping in a motorhome 😊 will have a portable generator, etc. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday 🎉 I had a speedy ticket for 35mph with 4 litres of blood in the car going to a hospital for blood transfusion 😢 Course is rubbish
I assume you were delivering the blood? No allowance made then.
@BobEarnshawMoHo no I was in a taxi car that had a nhs contract 😳
I have an MX5, although it doesn't do many miles, it is 19 years old. I have never changed the brake fluid in it.
It just passed it's MOT today with no advisories and the brakes were a.o.k. and stop me perfectly.
Well, I found the brakes were much firmer after it had been changed.
With everyday expenses we have to be very pound wise, & I trust your opinion, so a big thank you.🥰
Thank you for your appreciation.
A couple I know bought a Hymer Exsis-t 580 Pure & and carry e-bikes in the garage, 2 single beds I believe not sure about the Lounge. I’m sure you are probably aware of this already knowing how many vans you have reviewed! 👍
Yes, we prefer the twin sofas and even the fold away travel seats.
Hi
I like the reviews you do . If they are relevant to Motorhomes please keep doing them.
Thank you, I try.
Did you not claim for your leaking roof and subsequent damage to your blinds on your home insurance?
It isn’t covered as it wasn’t caused by storm damage.
Hi. Why change? you said yourself probably end up keeping yours. Don't give up the C3 licence.I did and regret it. Maybe too many reviews are hard work, but how are we going to know what suits us without watching reviews?
You make a couple of good points there.
Thanks for the tip about the lights, especially as I just bought one! No we're not taking the car to Orkney.
We've already been to the IOW, so perhaps you have missed those videos? We did do a fair bit of walking around Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle.
You do product reviews really well and are has usefull as site reviews etc, so just need to be prepared for those who comment nasty things
Watched this the other day and didnt add a comment. Oops about the speeding ticket, I enjoyed watching the IoW series and Orkney sounds exciting
Thanks
Hi bob Jenny my 3500 autotrail will tow Up to 1250
The limitation is with the Ford Chassis that Bailey use in the Adamo.
You’ll enjoy the speed course…..when I went I was the youngest there in my mid 50s lol
Are you doing it in Liverpool
Hoping to do it online if I can.
You show your licence apparently.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo just read how it works….you would enjoy going to a venue …
@@BobEarnshawMoHo it’s a live 2.75 hrs zoom call …but whose to say there’s not somebody sitting beside you lol
Ps as long as the rear bike rack is approx 40kgs you'll be fine carrying an e bike😊
5:37 does that mean you can do upto 35 in a 30 ? Good to know.
There seems to be some leeway.
Products reviews will always be polarising.Maybe set up a parallel channel?
I could but I think I've got a larger and hopefully more relevant audience on my current channel.
OK thanks.
Bob why don’t you buy a caravan a lot of your problems would be resolved X
Oops. Missed off meals in?
We tend to ignore that cost as it would be same as at home.
Take care.
I always do the specs and say you should consider the payload.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo well done Bob
Great update. Fascinating Bob and Jenny.
Bad luck on the speeding fine and good luck with the speed awareness course! They’re not much fun Bob. 😬
So looking forward to your Scottish trip - when you go to see the Dolphins, check the tide times. The Dolphins feed just as the tide starts to come in - pushes the salmon into the estuary. At other times you may see them but may well be unlucky.
