Nice review and demonstration. I received my SW-102 yesterday and look forward to using it. Mine did not come with the plate to use for a ground plane, but I will try to make one. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for your feedback Bill. As much as I remember, there are two versions online, with and without that plate. Enjoy the new addition to your shack. 73.
Thanks I enjoyed the video as a recent ham. I purchased the meter and trying to figure as to the connector type that goes from HT (Baofeng) to the meter and from the meter to the antenna. Many thanks
No, it didn't came with the adapters. I needed to use mine. Note that there are two versions of this device, one that comes with PL-259 and the other with N-Type connectors. So if you order it, make sure you order the one that fits to your needs.
re: Ham Radio Oh, I did, only for it to get lost in the mail. haha Hey, do you ever get some loud fluttering on some of the Simplex channels or know what this is? Also, the repeaters seem to cut off randomly and no idea why.
Hi, what exactly is the problem that you see? The device has an option for calibration in its menu. Have you tried that? Also, you can always send an email to their support.
Hello. Great video. I just received my SW102 today. I cannot find one of those ground plates here in Canada. Can you inform me where you got it from. Thankyou.
Hi and thanks for the feedback. I heard from a few people, that they didn't get that ground plate as well. So I can just assume that this depends on the seller. I suggest to email the seller and check that. Please feel free to update here about the status. Thanks and 73.
Thank you for this original presentation. Im gonna go ahead and try one for myself. Off topic, I saw an MFJ 969 on background which I own and can’t figure out a weird behavior. On the 30W scale its not linear. How is yours? Could you perhaps make a short video taking some power measurements at various output levels? Cheers and 73s! Diego IZ0MTW

@@reHamRadio Hi. I have just got an answer from Surecom. It is very strange to use so weird system. I have the version 2.7 and I saw on YT films for example v 4.5. Yes, it's connected to my radio all the time, even though I'm not turning that on all the time. But when I want to know the status, I'm turning that on and when I'm confident that all is ok, I'm turning that back off. Thanks for your feedback, 73!
I bought the same meter, I can't find any information about it anywhere. Mine is occasionally reading double the tuned frequency. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Jeremiah, reading the double frequency is really weird. Make sure you are testing FM and not digital mode like DMR. If you Google their brand you can find their website with some information.
Hi John, First, i'm sorry for the late reply as I just now saw you comment. From some reason I didn't see it before. As for your question, that menu feature is to calibrate the meter, if needed. To calibrate, you will need another meter that you trust. That menu option is from -99 to + 99, while each unit equal to 0.1 Khz. I hope it helps, 73.
It's a great video, but does one use the ground plane only for the stock antenna or with _all_ HT antennas? The ground plane plate no longer is included as Surecom said it would add about ten more dollars to the cost. My 102 had so many bad readings that I'm sending it back. Can you imagine a Nagoya NA-771 SWR reading of 3.58?? On an analog meter the Nagoyas registered well under 1.5. Without the plate, the readings were outrageous. To not include the plate was a horrible decision. Fortunately, TwoWayRadio still has versions with the plate included. So I ordered from them for $54 and I'm returning the one I got from Amazon.
When comparing two meters, the tests should be equal. Then, sometimes, a meter needs calibration. Before any decision which meter make more sense, I would check the meters with another antenna, doesn't matter which type. It's just to get a reference that the reads are consistent. I hope it helps.
@@reHamRadio » You're right, of course, and that I did. I did the Retevis 20W whip, which on another meter performed remarkably well. Then I tried the Nagoya NA-771 and the NA-24J. All showed very high VSWRs, Something is wrong. I want to get a Diamond Signal Stick, butt I haven't had the chance to pick one up. Do you know of a good place to pick one up? Thanks for your counsel, sir!
Hi thanks for the video. BUT my set ( from Aliexpress ) came without the groundplate. Will the measuring of rubber-ducky / portable antennas be OK or will give false results ? Thanks in advance
Thanks for your feedback. Testing the antenna without the ground plate should be fine as well, especially if the test is with low power. The results that you will be should be similar to the natural condition where the antenna is connected to the handheld anyway. I believe that they added that piece of metal to isolate the meter itself from RF while testing, especially with high power. I know that there are few models out there, with and without that ground plate, but even if you don't have it, you should be good. 73.
Thanks for this video; very informative. One question: does the device need to be power on in order to pass the RF to/from the rig, or what I need to take it out of circuit? Thanks.
Hi and thanks for your feedback. Yes, this device is working on batteries (charge by USB). It must be power on to show the details. But, you can still use it when it's off. You don't need to disconnect it from your rig and antenna even if it's not in use.
Thank you for showing how to flip the display. Great tutorial.
Thanks, Vance, I'm happy that it was helpful, good luck!

re: Ham Radio Did this SWR came with any antenna adapters as seen when you were testing the antenna?

I'm not sure about your question and I think that there is a mix with a different issue. This is not a transciever, only the SWR/Power meter.

wie genau sind die SWR Meter im Vergleich zu hochpreisingen Geräten?
I don't have a comparison with high end equipment, but it's very accurate for a ham station, not for lab tests.
