We are actually sad to see what has become of Jerry Lee Lewis' hometown of Ferriday, LA. Jerry Lee has always been one of my very favorite entertainers!
Our town may not look as nice as the old days but it’s still full of love and talent !! The drive thru liquor store is ran by jerry Lee Lewis family! Very rude and racist there that house was his house !
@ ChristenAnn , However , Jerry Lee wasn't a racist .he & B.B.King also Fat's Domino ,Chuck Berry were Very close friends. ----- * way back in 1982 ,Jerry Lee met an old friend of mine , she's a Black girl or woman now ( older ) he was very Polite & Courteous & friendly towards her. he was Playing the Piano for us one early morning at the hotel.
The small town of Ferriday has a pretty interesting history. Itinerant pianists, sawmills, railroads. Very little can be found about that on the internet. Is anything left of Ferriday's railroad history?
@@happywanderers2186 Ferriday was served by railroads coming in from four directions and was visited by blues pianists who entertained sawmill workers. The town - founded by the railroads - was predominantly African-American and had blues importance long before Haney's opened its doors. It's a pity the museum missed out on that.
Hard to notice the beauty in anything with such negative commentary. And just an FYI, that's your beloved musician's family that run's that drive through liquor store. Looked like they had to make ends meet as well.
Home Sweet Home. It is said that it's just the town. Believe it or not, back in Jerry's Day, Ferriday was a really clean growing city. The late 60s Started the decline. This isn't even the worst it's been. The have never given the Lewis family props they deserved. When he got famous he gave a lot to that city. His community. That was Ferridays fault. You don't act like the Killer owes you anything. Ferriday will never be more than a grease stain on the Louisiana Map. Frankie Jean Lewis Passed back in 2016. I used to help her at her house/jerry lee museum... Warning to those who don't know. You don't FU** WITH THE LEWIS's.Everything you hear about Crazy....ALL TRUE!!!! But if you are a friend or true Jerry Lee fan...Great PEOPLE and a ONCE great town. Only reason anyone outside a 10 mile radius even knows the word "Ferriday Louisiana" is that family. That city really should have did more for its famous family... but this was Klan Country till the mid 90s. My home there is out on Lake St John...is where I will be scattered or laid to rest..... Ghost walk those streets..
Cody, thanks for sharing that info. I have been a fan of The Killer for as long as I remember. You can imagine my disappointment to see this town, where he grew up in such a state. I guess I expected too much, after visiting Graceland several times and places that other famous people grew up. The upside is, we stayed in Natchez and that side of the Mississippi was beautiful. I hope, someday, Jerry will get the museum that he deserves! I will most like be a tourist trap and Memphis or Nashville but really should be in Ferriday. Thanks for watching.
@@thomaschatman3743, Jerry Lee Lewis didn't steal his music from the Blacks. he used to listen to his Favourites ,Country music ,Hank Williams , Jimmie Rodgers & also Al Jolson ,although he wasn't a Country singer. Yes , he sure liked the Blues from the Black artists. he has stated that he was Influenced by them ,those that he saw & heard. he & B.B.King became Very close friends ,also Chuck Berry & Fats Domino. * Some say that he was also Influenced by Moon Mullican. ---- the fact is he never copied anyone's style.
Bad filmed. Much too fast on your camera turnings - very hard to watch at. What about the constantly laughing about everything? Please keep your videos private or learn to operate your system.
You should come back next year and we can give you a tour !!

It's a small town. Jerry Lee Lewis said himself that there's not much to Ferriday. There's hundreds of small towns just like it...
Great video guys! We love all the history of the good ole singer/performers. Thanks for sharing. Paul & Magen
Linda Gail sure deserves to have a plaque there too ❤️
* Linda Gail is still Alive & Rocking !!
