What is dropshipping? In this video, I'm going to explain exactly how drop shipping works, show you how to find drop shippers for your products, and give solutions to some common problems associated with drop shipping.
Many people shy away from starting an online store because of the initial start-up costs. But imagine if someone offered to pay your up-front inventory costs on thousands of items and manage all your shipping and fulfillment operations for you. It'd be much easier to get started, and you could run your business from anywhere in the world.
Sound too good to be true? Well, it's not, if you know about drop shipping.

Having been a drop shipper now for over six years, I can tell you that drop shipping isn't for everyone. It's a full time business that takes time to build, work, maintain, and grow. You should not venture into this field unless you have a ready supply of cash on hand to get started with. ($10k) min. WHY? It's a business where you will have to pay for the purchased merchandise that your customers purchase from you with your supplier. True you will get paid, that could take 5 to 10 business days before your money clears. If you think your going to do this on Amazon for get it. Amazon's payment model will take you 30 to 45 days before you can get your money back in full. WHY? Amazon withholds your funds until all refunds, exchanges, and returns are cleared, then they wait two weeks before they'll issues you a payment, and then its a wire transfer that takes 3 business days to reach your bank. With that being said. In this video drop shipping is promoted with Shopify. While Shopify is a good low cost start. Most of their templates are basic, and don't grab customers attention. Great templates for the web start with great web-site builders. Another reason for the high start up costs. Building your platform right. Remember: Simple business models get simply left behind. Just as this video states, and its 100% true. If you don't have a solid plan of driving PAYING traffic to your website you are wasting your money, time and effort. So be careful in starting a drop shipping business, and know it is a full time business, and it will take a lot of resources to get started. No matter what others might say. Rb.
You're accepting funds onto an Amazon account and then delivering with Amazon? I don't think you get the concept of this.
Richard Bronson bullshit lmao, you clearly aren't successful at all with dropshipping and have no clue why you're doing. I've seen so many people between the age of 16-21 becoming successful with their Shopify stores in the matter of months. Don't listen to this guy if you're reading this, he has been doing it for 6 years and still hasn't become anything from it, which is quite sad. And now he's trying to deter others goals with it. Smh

+Nyved Designs this is essentially what I needed. Someone to hold my hand through this unknown territory. One of my small setbacks right now is needing to purchase a scanner. I can draw stuff all day, but I need to be able to digitally edit them. I'm really new to graphic design via a computer so this may take me a bit longer to get started. But I can't let that stop me nonetheless since I already have drawings that need to be utilized.

It will go back to your supplier. So you have to make sure your familiar with your suppliers return policy.
so if the customer returns the item i just have to contact the supplier and tell them i want to return it and thats it.
That pretty much its as long as its within the suppliers guide lines for the return. Just make sure you understand the return policy of your supplier. There will be a time when your going to have to eat the cost of an item and that just the price of doing business but it wont happen often.

Drop Shipping is very convenient, you just sell, no need to make stock, and your supplier will ship for you. If you are new, I recommend you to use Shopify and CJ Drop shipping, really useful.
Thanx for the replies but have been studying this all week. By the time you have paid the manufacturer, shipping, the drop shipper fee there's barely anything left maybe a couple of $$ ..then you get your own tax etc. deducted from it also. You'd need to sell a lot of stuff to make it profitable. This online selling link when I look at it when it explains profit made doesn't take all this into consideration. Then with the manufacturers they cannot always be trusted. I guess it's only a few people who are able to profit from it!
this is a matter of learning new skills.... Its interesting. I think I will just focus on my primary business.

The key is to keep your overhead and COGS low. Also find the right product. If you're selling little kids tooth brushes for 5 bucks, your margin is going to be bleak. But if you sell electronic toothbrushes for 250 bucks, you have more to work with. Pay attention to your COGS (shipping, packaging, cost to actually make the product, etc.) and also pay attention to your market.
If you go for big items to begin with, be careful!
Paypal will hold your funds if you are a new seller, meaning you will have to pay for items up front to begin with. If you have the money, no worries. If you don't though, you will have to borrow it to start...
This is assuming you are selling on ebay, I'm not sure if this applies to other sites you can sell on!

There is a name for this. Known simply as "trading".To avoid the tax, set up shop at your favorite 3rd world country where taxation of e commerce is not yet established. you can do your transactions from there.
