Also according to Kimberley in her Book, everyone thought Javine was going to make the Group. Nothing is guaranteed. Folks were stunned that Austin Butler and Angela Bassett lost at The Oscars earlier this Month.
I think the "Got a feeling it's a mixed up sign" and "Chain reaction running through my veins" lines are Nicola and Sarah respectively. I do remember this version being the first one I heard on my local radio station - Essex FM - when it was played for the first time after the band was formed on the Saturday!
Also what happened with Kimberley isn't as uncommon as you think. In 1967 after Holland/Dozier/Holland left Motown and Florence Ballard got Fired from The Supremes Mary Wilson (RIP) and Cindy Birdsong never sang on a Supremes Song. From that moment on, The Andantes who were motown's background group sang with diana ross. They also sang on "Just Ask The Lonely" by The Four Tops and some of Marvin Gaye's early tracks.
@@jambon6451 it does a little bit :/ but when I filtered the vocals in Audacity they sounded like none of the girls :/ so maybe these are the one of the Orchid girls vocals... We'll never know or at least not until the original Orchid demo leaks
It's a very early version of the song produced during Popstars The Rivals before the final line-up was decided. Javine's vocals were removed after she failed to make the final 5, and Kimberley's vocals were later added in.
@@girlsaloud203 oh ok. Thank you for replying. Did they ever release the Javine version? I wonder what parts she would have sang. I think both Javine and Nadine would have shared lead vocals.
@@yumdisc4981 No, never released as far as I know, although Javine has since said in an interview that she has a copy of it. We need her to leak it. :D
Actually all 6 of the girls recorded vocals for the song prior to the final. This version was released to radio before the one as we know it and Kimberley was very upset to hear she wasn't on it so approached the producers and demanded her vocals be included.
Actually I agree. Nicola is cool but during their debut phase and especially after hearing the alternate version of this song where Kimberley had more lines, her voice gave more oomph than I originally gave credit for. So much better with her in it.
@@sheisveryfamous Their harmonies were mostly horrific (e.g. With Every Heartbeat, Beneath You're Beautiful, Apologize, etc.) spattered with a mix of ok the odd time. Kimberley rarely song low which is odd because it was desperately needed in their songs because the others didn't know how to harmonize.

Do you have the Radio Edit to Sound Of The Underground?
Enjoyed this. Would be fab to have 5 versions of each of the girls vocals

You're right. Cheryl is also singing Kimberly's part in the chorus at 1:05.
it’s Javine not Cheryl
This was an early version before Kimberley’s vocals were added

Any chance for the original Orchid demo to be uploaded? :D
Is that Javine or one of the Orchid demo singers at 1:05 ?
I’m not really sure
I thought it sounded like Javine but I might be wrong
If anyone else knows they should let me know
Regards Lucinda
OMG
It was originally by a group called Orchid and never released. Apparently their vocals are still all over the GA demos
@@KeepAnEyeOnDan omg thank you! 🤗 I read about it long time ago God I wish we had Orchid demo to compare the vocals 🙈
It sounds like Cheryl.

It’s Cheryl, maybe with vocals from a demo version.
The way this could’ve turned into Kimberley’s “Wannabe” if they didn’t add her vocals into the verses.
How comes there's a no Kimberley version?

This kinda proves GA needs Kimba to give the oomph factor
Meh. Song barely changed without her vocals. I like Kimberly but I don’t think she really added all that much vocally.

@@jambon6451 Kimberley was the alto of the group. She was really important to the harmony, she can sing so low
