I wet formed using just my fingers to stretch the 9oz over a form, then used soft dive weights (I'm a diver) on top, and laid a plastic bag between the weights and the leather to prevent the mesh bags patterning onto the leather. Took longer to completely dry, but turned out well. When hammering (haven't tried that yet) hammer the flesh side!
Very cool, Morgan Donner has a awesome tutorial on how to make your perfect body double form using the old duck tape trick then filling with spray foam
Vegetable Tanned Leather will get harder and more brittle the hotter the water. You can destroy a project in boiling water, or waterform it to a good spot in warm water. You can just water form somehting with regular old room temperature water though, it just won't quite get as firm. Hot tap water can work well for a lot of costume projects. If you want it for actual armor it needs to probably be baked, or at least much hotter water. Experiment! :)

Not sure what I'd do with that in regards to forming the chest unless I want my musculata to be a keg. Hahaha
Getting back brace fitting flashbacks but definitely cool stuff
Those highlights really tied everything together. Awesome work!
Thanks a ton!
Another fine project sir! Really like the Picture in Picture :) keep up the great work!
I did that to cover the pip from the stream haha
Nice
OMG BROTHER IVE BEING TRYING TO FIND A VIDEO LIKE THIS FOR YEARS . THANK YOU SO MUCH . CAN THIS BE DONE WITH LEATHER FROM A REGULAR LEATHER JACKET
No that would be really difficult. When water forming leather vegetable tan is the way to go.
I need this pattern
Is the template to this chest piece available? Can’t seem to find it
Well it's waterform Ed so it's just a chest single cut out. If you really want it I can send it. Email info@darkhorseworkshop.com
Looks awesome! Definitely have to try that. Where do you get your mannequins from?
I just dug around on Facebook marketplace
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
I have more of an AB than abs lol
Nice six pack
Mine would need to be a keg
😂
How hot should the water be?

Is there a leather type that has a human skin feel to it? I am investigating materials for realistic humanoid robot skin.
Not really, a latex would work better.
You have a broken link sir.
Oh which link?
@@DarkHorseWorkshop the Lonsdale Leather link goes to a 404 error.
Can't you just make a mannequin of yourself with gipsum stops and pu foam?
Never done that. But have no idea how that works for strength and detail.
