My headlight and ballast went out 2 years ago and I paid the dealership $1100 to replace it!!!! And I noticed my headlight was out a few days ago. After replacing the headlight, it still didn’t work! So I knew immediately what the problem was. So I researched the parts and order the light and ballast from Amazon. Spent only $55 bucks!!! Spent a few hours taking everything off with help of your video and now they work like brand new again!!!! Thank you so much!! I refused to pay the Acura dealer another $1100 dollars!!! Fuck that shit! I did it my self and saved a shitload of money, thanks to your video! Believe me, it’s greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks for you video! It is thorough and to the point. I changed my ballast and lamp last night with your help. Well done, and I will look for more of your posts.
Thank you very much Jiminy Cricket!!! I used an aftermarket ignitor/ballast and everything went very smooth thanks to your well layed out instructional video. Bravo!
My driver's side just died last week. The corner marker, and Projector isn't working, and Projector was flickering days before dying, so I'm assuming it's the ballast.
Thanks for the tutorial, was able to get both my ballasts and ignitors changed out, drivers side works now but passenger side it still dead, even tried a new bulb, any ideas?
So, I have been watching this video carefully and seems straight forward. I do have a question tough. When you put in the headlight assembly, does it offer some kind of wiggle room for you to adjust the gaps between the headlight and the fender or you just put the headlight in and tighten the screws? In other words, if you don't wiggle/re-position the headlight assembly, is it possible that it won't sit flush with the fender?
Hi Charkatak. The design doesn’t allow for wiggle room or alignment of the housing with the rest of the bodywork. Everything fits tightly and doesn’t really move so I had no issues with the alignment of the housing and getting the bumper back on properly.
@@jimminycricket6618 Interesting...I took my car to Acura for a bulb replacement on driver side as I injured my left hand and needed low beam light replacement asap. They did the job but when I got the car, the corner(round part) of the headlight housing was pressing more on the upper side of the fender. Also between the top of the headlight housing where it meets with fender, there was about 5 mm gap and when I pressed on it, it would creak because one of the corners was rubbing the fender. Also the bumper somehow wasn't as perfect as it was before they removed it. The techs didn't touch the passenger side and it is perfect! I had to talk to regional manager for them to redo the job. Car is in the shop. So before you tighten the bolts on the headlight housing, could there is some very minor play, such as couple of mm to somehow position the headlight to be close to the fender and make the gas more or less, as needed?
If you’re asking if there is a way to put this back together incorrectly, the answer is yes. If you rush and don’t align the housing when you put it back i imagine you could introduce a number of problems.
@@jimminycricket6618 I guess that is what I was asking. Thanks for clarifying this. FYI my vehicle is RL, not MDX but that may not matter much. I was very upset when I saw the imperfections as I brought the car to them to fix one issue and in return got few misaligned parts of the bumper, headlight and on top of that the techs mixed half of the clips, mixed 2 different clip types and the garnish/cover of the the radiator was not fully installed and was 40% loose. I am sure, I would have done a much better job especially if I have the shop manual with proper instructions :(
Just finished doing my MDX Igniter with your help, people who put my bumper on last time had broken clips so they ended up gluing it which caused some problems for me, I also ended up with like 10 clips after I finished the job so let’s hope it’s all good😂
@@GrabinGears Replaced the other one why? If its working? I have to change the headlight on my wife's MDX because of moisture problems too. I only ordered replacements for the one damaged side.
@@tite732 I see people love wasting money. You don't have to replace the headlight.....order butyl from theretrofitsource or Amazon and seal up the headlight. When one ballast goes you replace the other as well the same as when one bulb goes out because the new bulb will be extremely brighter than the old one. The same goes with the ballast. Buy OEM bulbs (osram)
@@GrabinGears I don’t know that I have the DIY skills to refurbish a headlight myself. I already ordered one and it wasn’t too bad on price with warranty. It’s refurbished. I will keep your advice in mind in case the other side decides to develop the same issue. Thanks 4 the advice.
Your video is very informative , Thank you for the upload but what life expectancy of these ballasts I got a MDX08 and I have never replaced one of these but my low headlight bulb are getting burned sooo often do you think is related to that ? again thank you to consider theses uoloads and helping the MDX community
Great Video Brother, I actually did this to my mdx thanks to you. Quick question though, when you took the 2 bolts off in the front what extension did you use, and was that just a drill. I used a simple ratchet and it took me way longer. Thank You in advance brother and please post more stuff on MDX’s
Aaron Branson i just used a ratchet and a long socket. I sped up the video so it probably took the same amount of time. I’m glad this helped, that’s why I put up my videos. If if can save someone money or time, it’s a good day.
I need to change the headlight on our MDX and just ordered a refurbished headlight due to moisture problems. The dealer wanted 1,600 or so to fix this. One of the DRL went as well. I want to buy replacement bulbs for the fogs and DRL to match the HID hue. Are the new LED style plug and play? Any suggestions?

Nevermind it was a blown fuse
Very good video...going to attempt a headlight bulb replacement on the wife's '07 MDX. Original bulbs and they are very dim.
Good luck! Hope that helped a bit.
this video is perfect, good directions and good videos. Thanks.
You took off that 10mm by hand.. mine wont come out... its just keeps turniing..heat up the bolt?

Did the new ballast help with brightness at all? My 11 MDX headlights fire right up , but I feel like they could be brighter?

I don’t know. Mine had moisture in the housing. From reading the forums moisture is the death sentence for the ballast.
I hope you replaced the other one as well

Hey Don Julio I never swapped those out, so unfortunately no good suggestions
sweet clip, clean. Nice job.
Anyone have parts recommendation for the ignitor and ballast?
Amazon has the part …. Mine was on sale. $27
Where can I buy a new ignitor ? Do you have a link ?
Hi Franco, i cant recall where i got mine, i would check local parts shops in your area.
Me funde fusibles será balastro?
Elias Rivera no se, es posible. I don’t know, it’s possible.
It seems like you don't care about comments nor answer questions

Pretty ridiculous!! Not looking forward to changing these bulbs.
Pretty glad I was able to mute this one. The music was so irritating.
