    I'm gonna jump to the DaVinci resolve video but i must say you remind me so much of my graphic design professor. He is a very quick witted enthusiastic human.

    there is no better source for professional VR production tutorials like High Hou's channel. We have used small VR cameras like the Insta 360 EVO and Madventure 360 as a "bonus" in addition to our classic music videos and sometimes used them for live shows. We are currently testing the Canon R5C with the VR180 lens to integrate 8k60 VR180 production to our service catalogue. It's a long way to go, until you reach a workflow during the shooting and also in post production. Also the quality isn't 100% there yet, even in 8k60. A lot of optimization is needed to get a sharp image, especially using the Canon R5c/VR180 combination. Nevertheless, any video from this channel is a gift to the VR movie making industry.

      Thank you! We are getting there. Canon R5C is what we use and the color science is the best so far in VR. All the problem you pointed out is noted. While Canon is actively adjusting this (they are slow) we also have solution slowly roll out next year to make VR creators' life easier.

I've been watching some videos and heavily using Premiere Pro but since I saw your video on DaVinci I've been wondering if it would be better to make a change, you just gave me the final confirmation :) Can't wait to put this knowledge into practice! I would love to also get an update on upframing: When in the process you use it, which software and what settings, what to be aware of etc.

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  10 місяців тому +1

      Upframe you mean 30 to 60fps? I use Twixtor and Resolve also has a great free plugin to do so. For Topaz, it default CHROMA (I might spell it wrong) is pretty good. As long as it don't over do it.

      That is a Meta camera - what I used to shoot the Rome At Night series at ISO 6400 60fps mono 360 video. You will learn more in the color series coming next as I will need the dynamic range to demo color grading. lol.

    Do you recommend to upframe (30→120fps) 8K3D before Resolve in Topaz or for the final cutted video with Topaz?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  10 місяців тому

      I never do 120fps unless I can shoot at 120fps - upframe that much will create artifacts

    Hi Hugh - I need some help re 360 images in VR. I use 3DVista for creating tours and now branching into VR tours. When test ThetaZ1 images with Quest2 the scale seems all wrong, everything seems too big. I am told that’s just the way it is - but is it? Do different cameras have different results? I also use Sony Full Frame with Samyang 12mm. Woukd love your advice and / or video on this. Thanks

    Btw are those highly visible artifacts that separate the video into 3 squares by brighter areas compression artifacts of youtube? Or something else?

    I have what might be a slightly unrelated question: I shot video with Canon R5C and Canon’s dual fisheye VR lens. But, I’d like make a video that normal viewers would watch. I call this a monoscopic “flat” normal render. I can’t figure out in Premiere Pro how to do that. Can you tell me how to do that?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  10 місяців тому

      You want 2D reframe out of VR180? You can first use VR projection to convert it into mono like this tutorial. Render it out and then use GoPro FX Reframe plugin to reframe it in to social media or 16:9 video

    Hey Hugh :) I tried your ProRes tip with Insta360 Pro 2 but it takes over 5 hours with a RTX4090 (not laptop gpu) to stitch a 14min 8K3D36030fps video and the result takes up over 500gb of space. For MP4 H265 max bitrate I go with far less than an hour and just 15-20gb total...
    I have set it to slowest/max quality in Stitcher. When I upframe with topaz the result is 10% of the file size even though it's now a higher framerate. What am I doing wrong?
    Especially the filesize problem bothers me... not being able to use hardware encoding with an 4090 is not cool to but why are the files sooo huge. 535gb for 15min video? And why same thing on topaz just 1/10th of the size?
    Furthermore it takes also longer in Topaz: 10,6h (h265→av1) instead of 6 hours (prores→prores)...you said it'll be faster?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  10 місяців тому

      Wait topaz is faster in ProRes to ProRes or HEVC to AV1? Which one is faster? I never test Topaz sweet for file format - I just always work with ProRes or DNxHR and never work with HEVC as editing format. As HEVC is delivery format not editing format
