This week we make a small garden project, build a platform stairs and prepare for the lamination of the inside of the hull.
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on UA-cam. While we are still sailing, our main focus now a days is building RAN III, a 50 ft sailboat that we are building from scratch. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

We have been patrons for years and my wife surprised me with a RAN Sailing tshirt for father's day. She said she joined as a patron again to order the shirt without me knowing about it, so now we are double patrons!. Great to watch the boat and Vera growing up each week.
Thanks for watching and supporting for so long! 😊👍 We hope you’re happy with the shirt.
Cheers!

I am rating this project 5+ Strawberries!!!
I can't believe I've watched 402 episodes of this adventure. Still here. Great documentation throughout.
us 2 in Scotland ❤
And from the Netherlands as well 😊
And West coast USA 🍓
Inch for inch this ship is crawling its way into the sea! What a wonderful project!
Five strawberries for all the work!
🍓 🍓 🍓 🍓 🍓
With each video Malin’s editing skills get better and so do Johan’s carpentry skills. I discovered this channel a week ago and I’m addicted. Love the storyline, the family and I’m fascinated by the project. So much admiration for your discipline and hard work. Kudos.
Start at the beginning there is so much wonderful content, lovely people
Malin needs to invest in higher quality camera gear.....some shots are too grainy revealing the limitation of the current gear.
I started my first boat building yard in the late 1960's when FG was not widely used or accepted. Over the years I build and rebuilt many wooden boats in Canada.
Now, in my 80's, it is fun watching people like you two. It is worth every minute to get it right or you will kick yourself in the butt if you don't.
Good Luck
The new archway, platform, and steps look great. This is just my interest, but each week you could add a word or phrase of your home language to help us learn a little about your language while we watch the videos. It could be a simple word or even a phrase related to what you are doing in the episode. It's a simple way to share your cultural language since you already know the English language so well. Just a thought...
I'll give this episode 5 strawberries 🍓.
Johan I'm aware that many geniuses don't like to be called as such ,so I'll just describe you as being exceptionally talented, diligent, resourceful and persevering . Love the love and care that you show the farm...
I remember eating out of the garden when I was a kid some 50 years ago. I miss those days. It is nice to see you teaching Vera how to garden.
May I suggest a light ‘reminder’ rail at top of stairs. Sides upto you.
One day you are going to be tired and deep in thought and walk right off the step.
I have the scars.
I’m an old sailor, gruff and cynical….but that scene on the steps with Vera was adorable.
It takes me a couple days of planing then a day of work to build a 3 strawberry set of steps.
Thank you for your lovely channel. Always a treat to my day. Cheers from BC 🇨🇦
Johann, your a wizard carpenter. When I first started to view this episode I thought to myself, "shouldn't be to difficult, constructing stairs for the transom"? Your professionalism is truly a marvel!
Wow! Vera's growing like a weed and your boat is looking very good indeed and I'm surprised how big it is :D
I like the idea of doing the bow section last. Doing the hardest part after getting used to working the glass on the inside of the hull should make it easier. Also, I wish every child could grow up with a kitchen garden. I'm glad yours gets that experience.
I was renting a garage, the owner had vegetable garden I asked him how he liked the peas crop, he said good but the yield was low. I had to confess I had eaten a couple dozen of them, delicious.
LOL 😋
I'd give those temporary stairs at least 6 strawberries, lol! A true craftsman at work!
your rational creative lives are a pleasure in todays insane world
my friday at work lunchtime viewing. been great watching everything from the antartica videos through to today.
5 strawberries…easy , with cream on the top!
To see your videos every friday is becoming a vice. Thank you for sharing the building of your boat, step by step. Great job!!
my god we love your daughter, she is a gift to you. I should know I was given one too
I have watched them all. You invest so much time and money into this project. I'm asking myself, if I would not rather have settled with an older boat, which would definitely not have been the ocean-going yacht of my dreams, but it would have been more affordable and available on the spot. Your newbuilding ages while still under construction - and so do you. Will you still be committed to ocean travel once the building is complete? I enjoy to see your progress and I appreciate your dedication. I have learnt a lot and I can't wait to follow you on your next ocean adventures. Thank you für many well-wasted hours on UA-cam. They were worth it.
Those stairs are most definitely 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓
Little miss cheeky face is growing like sweet peas and Honeysuckles in all the rain we've been getting.
I really enjoy when you speak in your native tongue. It is a beautiful sounding language. It also sounds like Vera is learning some English.
Summertime in the countryside. What could be better.
Once again, Johan, your master carpentry skills come to the fore (i.e., make themselves visible) -- "5-out-of-5 Strawberries and a thumbs up!" 😉👍
Hi , amazing work you are al doing on the construction on the hull and your farm garden . 😉👍👍👍
I give this video 5/5 strawberries! Waving hello from 🇨🇦
Definitely a five strawberry job! As usual, we’ll done 👍
P.S.: I love the long handle disc sander. That’s a new one for me.
watching you build those steps is a thing of beauty. I only know how to buy the stringers already made. Well done
Johan’s,Malin and Vera you are doing a fantastic job on the yacht I know little Vera is young but she’s leaning about the build every
day whilst not at school or eating fresh strawberries. I look forward to see the build every week and thank you for sharing

Johan is a very skilled craftsman and the project is 5++ strawberries!
Such a joy to see more of life on the farm and how the kitchen garden is progressing.
Johan, is a Man that knows what he is doing... You people are so creative, hard working, constructive, insightful, and inspiring... Yes, five compliments to match the five strawberries for the people who builds a house that can change its views... You people! If i had a lot of money i would buy Johan tools and equipment!!! 😊
Always such a pleasure to see the progress on the boat, in the garden and of course to see how Vera progresses too - definitely five strawberries.😀⛵️👍
Great video
Fem jordgubbar! 🇨🇦
Very well thought out, steps to go in and out and to see all the planning that goes into it all. It will be a huge boat when its done and you'll know every bit of it,much respect to you both, from the old Englishman.
Try laminating from the inside through one layer. Thus, after they have hardened, you will have access from both sides for the intermediate layers
So enjoyable to watch. 👏👏🏴🥸
Canada here. Been following from the beginning. Retired renovation carpenter. Love your work. Now, kid and adult size hand rails for the steps and platform . Before the safety inspector shows up and shuts you down. LOL.
Year after year your vids/production is 100% entertaining to me!!! A+ guys!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
You are masters of prep work and with garden upgrades at the same pace, you are the most unique and inspiring sailing U tubers.
What a wonderfully lovely episode 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Full of great hull work, great family time, and gardening. Only way it gets better is somewhere at some atoll in the South Pacific. 😊 See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
Your portal is very lovely nicer than store bought!❤
I love the kitchen garden as much as the boat build!
Very nice stairs end platform en a nice entry for the garden👌👌
Another day of the Unbelievable project. Thanks for sharing
I think I get these videos at the ideal time. Saturday morning breakfast. A great intro to a chill weekend watching a fellow boat builder. Yes chill weekend - I finished mine a while back.
I have an old hay rack just like yours that I use as a yard art on my property and a wagon like yours as well. I really like having things like that around because it looks good.
So methodical, so steady, so much attention to every detail. Just awesome.
See you next week! Vera - so cute!
So much planning. Your boat will be a beauty.
Tack!
Очень круто получилось, успехов вам
I watch your channel every time I need inspiration for my projects. You guys are so productive and hard-working. For most people, building the steps to access your hull would be a large project!! I'm sure I missed it in a previous episode, but could you tell me in which episode you explain the transom details, and why you are leaving that for later? Thanks for your awesome videos!
Great job Guys well done.
Wonderfull project, now you can actually see the fruits of your labours.Well done.
Malin. My friend Joan is a master gardener here in Pennsylvania (US). She plants purple hyacinth beans at the base and they grow up and over the entire arbor every year. They grown very large (10-12") purple beans that are very showy. Clematis can be very nice plants but they are sometimes a little harder to grow. If they do well, great. If not, you might want to give the beans a try. Note that they are annuals. Johan - you are doing a great job too!! Love Vera! Ron
Friday - RAN, SV Delos, Uma. The weekend has started. A treat every time :-) I love how you involve us in the structural design. God sommer!
She's looking lovely...
Another lovely video!
🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓, with whipcreme on top, for the steps and archway. Thanks for sharing.
That looks great for the garden. Nice stairs, so much easier for access. Love the vlog :)
Love how the garden and boat are going along. Have a good weekend.
Thank you for the Video. Good explantations und good craftmanship. Love your Videos and your Family-Team-Vibes
Boats are like space ships. The amount of time to build one is 4x the time to build a house. They are precious, like the people who sail them, because one a percentage of population base boat builders and sailers are less than one one hundredths of any population. On another topic, it might be interesting to learn why you two can build things. What prepared you to build a 15 metre boat?
Thank you RAN for 402...
Wow, just watched the entire RAN III building series. Great job building the hull. There's nothing like old growth timber. Glad you found that cedar.
Love the garden!
Vera is such a cutie!!! Keep up the good work on the boat.
Remember the handrails around the stairs and entrance area...from experience I know that accidents happen when you are tired and miss a step. Great progress 😊
It was cool to see Vera speaking a little bit of English. She is growing up right in front of my eyes. You seem to balance the boat build with family time, house and gardening. Cheers to all that you do and I wish you well as things continue along. 😎
congratulations . your family adventure ,courage and skills are impressive/inspiring ,especially the flipping of your boat ! sharing of 3 thoughts on your boat build and safety : 1.having experienced serious storms myself ,I strongly recommend to prepare and install a largely overbuild anchoring system ,as efficient and safe as you can make it ,going far beyond common recommendation .
2. casual break ins are likely to increase : make all entry points as secure as possible
3. unusual ,but worthwhile to investigate : instead of normal mast configuration ,creating a super strong tabernacle ,extra long to have more connection points of tabernacle and mast and to have the boom hanging from tabernacle directly . that seals any leakage of water at mast into the boat ,allows easier emergency mast set up and with boom and mast rest ,can easily lower and realign mast at any wished for time in a controlled way. that allows you easy access to rivers and lakes below bridges and
thereby as well storm emergency hide outs ,you would otherwise not have access to .
Nice stairs
jeg venter meget på næste film i er bare så gode alle 3 , så fint i udfører alting .håber alt er vel hilsen ole
Vera looks like a Viking princess!
Bravo …👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
Johan
Great job on the stairs, you are so talented with all your skills.

In Europe on vacation and was so confused when I wasn’t seeing the Friday instalment. Obviously I’ve been used to your posts in the North American time zone 😅
Thanks for sharing 😊
Glad you built the stairs!
Thanks
I hope Vera approved cutting into her art work on the transom ;-) ❤
Hmmm. Railing around the stairs for those little feet :) Safety 1st.
I thought about it, but it interferes too much when getting larger things in and out of the hull. Cheers!
What a beautiful garden !
You’re really giving that Mirka sander a good test. I love mine with the 5mm stroke and aggressive grit it can sand fast but still light and comfortable. Many people have said the Mirka are unreliable and break. Mine still works great after 5 years of light commercial use.
Thankyou👍
Clematis vine is invasive here in Maryland and Virginia. My mother fought it for decades trying to remove it from our fig trees. It was a never ending battle. The clematis is still here, Mom is now gone.
9:04 probably would be easy to just build an exterior frame at the end that's tied to the stairs. Then you can remove all the bracing inside. An old quick and dirty boat repair trick i saw years ago was to take plywood (as thick as you can get it, where it bends with ease on the shape of the hull), take some wood strips (something like 30x4x2 cm) and screw them in (on the end) every 20 cm. Then you'd put a plank on the floor and using wood strips like the one you're holding in your hand at the timed index, connect the "rays" that result from bending the half-a-ladder unto the frame of the boat to the plank below resulting in a quick and very simple to make boat support. I've seen this used in a wooden fishing boat refit, where the tide had smacked the boat unto the peer and cracked the hull. They were out and in under 48 hours. Probably the fastest repair i'd seen, mostly thanks to the old salt being an absolute genius of jigs and angle cuts and all the required knowledge of seamless repairing of wood.
The corners on the rear temporary frame can also be cut off for convenience and safety. they geometrically do not affect the rigidity of the structure
Using composite staples will keep those heavy sections of saturated cloth from slipping so much.
BRILLIANT..!
Great work!
I used rebars to make pyramids in a garden for roses and creepers to grow up and around
Love your channel. One small concern, please put safety hand rails on the new steps. Top and middle of the back and left side of the landing, also left side on the steps. Safety first production will follow. All the best!
