This looks like a movie that has a good idea for a movie but it looks like it isn't that good
I feel as though they were at least trying to bring something cohesive to the table with Charlie's "character development" or whatever, but it still feels cheesier than most Disney Channel movies. Still not the worst movie ever, though.

Never thought anything could beat Stay Alive for cringy "I'm being murdered by a video game" genre. I wasn't even aware there were more movies.
midsnacker How To Make A Monster was a genre of it, sort of. The monster comes to life in the real world and kills the game developers. Old movie. Bad movie too, but a favorite from my childhood. The voice actor for Sven from Skyrim is in it as well.
2 1/2 stars on imdb. I must seek out this movie and watch it.

There's also that one episode of Black Mirror! S3 E2: Playtest has almost the same basic plot as this movie, but is actually executed rather well.
Your editing is so on point Ian, especially when you insert random dialogue from earlier into unrelated scenes, it always makes me laugh. I also did not realise that was Harvey from Sabrina until he took the glasses off!
This "put your friends name/face into media and scary things will happen to you with them in it" narrative is EXTREMELY popular in spanish speaking countries in the 90s and 2000s, or at least in countries I was moving into growing up
I cannot name how many examples there is of this trope and on different media, Example of a popular one nowadays is naming a Sim with a relative's name and they experience a soon-to-be tragedy, although it sounds like it, it's completely unrelated from creepypasta. A popular one I heard a lot when growing up was dedicating a mixtape to a girl and the lyrics of songs would change to say she will reject you. This movie just feels like a collection of, at the time, current urban legends with a 3D front and that's what makes it amazing
