I made this cake last night, Christmas Eve 2020. It came out very good. I learned that taking that extra time really makes the batter. And yes you’re so right, I do need to get a new pan like you showed. Also my daughter loves her hair color.

It sounds like you are not creaming your Butter and Sugar long enough , cream them for about 12 minutes or until the Sugar is silent when you scrape down the bowl .

I mix it on number 2.
After butter on cake pan, add the flour, throw sarap to cover and shake the flour around

No I start in a pre heated oven.

Think it's a third cup of lemon juice instead of zest.
I use 1/3 cup of lemon zest and 1/4 cup Lemon juice.
