I bought a Schrade Imperial Stockman off Amazon for $12. It amazes me that this can be had for $12. It does not feel like a cheap knife. It is built very well. I put 20 degree edges on the three blades with a Lansky system. Great box cutter and with three blades one is always sharp between strop touch ups.
Yep. Cannot beat the value for money. Thanks for watching be safe
I appreciate your reviews George, you're not a knife snob like so many others are. You give honest reviews to knives that working folks like myself would buy for daily use. I also have expensive knives, but I value some of my bargain blades equally as much. That said, I can remember when these Imperial Sodbusters were still made in Ireland and sold at Walmart in the 1990s for $5. The new Chinese made sodbusters are actually better, not because of build quality, but because cutlery steel has come such a long way over the years, even the Chinese stuff.
Yep. Me I'm just a budget guy who likes sharp and shinny things. If they do what I need em too. Then they good enough for me. Thanks for the support. Be safe
Hi George, commendations on the video and sound quality. Surprisingly good audio.
Lol..and just using my phone...many thanks. Be safe
Bought one finally. For the price it is outstanding. If I was very fussy, the grind is a little off at the tip and it needs a good clean inside but it's still usable as is. I just wanted something light and useful I could throw in my backpack in winter and wouldn't have to think about it if it gets soaked. Job done!
Yep my thoughts 💯 thanks for the support. And be safe out there in the cold 🥶
Ahhh the good ol sodbuster pattern, I actually saw a whole plastic jar of them at my local hardware store and get this they were USA made and only $2 each!!! I had to grab a handful of them babies and I believe I still have a couple the steel on them was a 420hc and I don't know if they were factory 2nds or what the deal was because you couldn't make the knife for under $2 just keeping the lights on in a shop so they're working for free selling them that cheap lol the only reason I don't still have them all was because I'd be carrying and using then and come upon a gentleman who didn't own a knife and felt the need to gift it them as they really were great little pocket knives but I must correct you it is not a liner-lock just a slip joint...
Wow $2. Cannot beat that. I love the Sod buster pattern. My favorite. Nice and simple perfect for edc at work or play. Thanks for watching always appriciated. Stay safe
Simple classy slipjoint knife, great presentation. The blade seems to be made with 7Cr steel which is the Chinese modified equivalent of 440A (and somewhere between aus-6 and aus-8). Enough for a knife that you carry in your pocket all day long in order to do light tasks I guess. I will order one soon, in order to compare it with my Opinel 8 with 12C27 inox blade.
Yes. I really prefer a single blade folder. This is a favorite. How good the steel is not sure. But my Opie #8 has stood the test of time. Thanks for watching and commenting its appriciated
I bought one recently...great knife!
I really like the plain and simple style. Thanks for watched muched appriciated
Just picked one of these up for 7.99 and I was shocked at how good it was at that price.
Yep one of thier better ones. Be safe out there
The Sod Buster Pattern is a Fav of mine too. Great Slip Joint.
Yes it is. I think I said Liner.. duh
@@2ndchancegeorge No worries, I walked into a Store the other day, with my Sun Glasses on and wondered why it seemed so dim in there...The only Dim one was me...lol.
I love Imperial knives for the price they are great !
Yep cannot beat thier value for price
i got the large black handle one man you so so right such high quality and takes a razor edge from stropping and actually holds a decent edge after cutting wood i love it gonna order the smaller one now to 😂
Nice. Glad you like em
@@2ndchancegeorge not sure if I want yellow or black on the small one 😂
Looks like the perfect garden knife. I like the price, too. I tend to buy bone-handled knives, but like the light-weight bright-colored plastic ones for the garden. And I’m in the garden hours every day. Only need one blade. Okay, it could have a lanyard hole, so it’s not quite perfect. Another one I’d like to try is the Marbles Reaper in G10. G10 liners, even. Crazy.
It would be good for garden. I'll have to lookvat the marbles....hmmmm. thanks for watching 👍
Okay George, I went and bought one. Can't beat that price. A simple, beautiful form and a useful everyday tool. What's not to like, eh? Thank you.
You welcome
@@2ndchancegeorge Got it yesterday. One day after ordering it. I like and have used it. It's a yellow one too. Video is up.
👍 Good review. Looks like Imperial’s version of the Case Sodbuster Jr. knife. Which is meant to be a complement.
Yes, and imperialvhave a bigger version aswell they refer to as the sod buster. Thanks stopping by. Always appriciated
Got two. In black. In both sizes.
Gotta love em Sodbusters. I was thinking black but wanted it for work and the yellow seemed more appropriate. Thanks for watching appriciate the support
It's capable. Good knife. I carry it over my case. The case stays sharper but I use my knife everyday where sharp and sharper make less difference than if you can manage not to drag it over something that'll dull either. While I like the case better, I like that this pattern is the real workhorse and that I can put my case up safe and beat the hell out of this third the price knife with confidence.
Yep you got that right. I agree. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appriciated
Very nice
Thank you. 😊
I have Sodbusters from Case, GEC, Maserin, and a bunch of other companies, but that Imperial punches way above its weight. I've owned, and gifted, loads of them. Great choice 👍That's a slipjoint, rather than a liner-lock though George, and it's a long time since they used celluloid :)
Yep its a slip joint. My bad. I think they say Celluloud because it sounds better than plastic 😆
@@2ndchancegeorge LOL! That's right, it's probably closest to Delrin, though it isn't actually Delrin. Celluloid was pretty unstable, capable of corroding your whole knife collection, and even exploding. 'Plastic' covers a lot of ground :)
Lol true. I read about it being unstable. I believe it still used in some plastics. But don't hold mr too that
@@2ndchancegeorge You've heard the stories about exploding billiard balls then?! :D
Lol...yes
That's the kind of knife a Grandpa pulls out of his pocket and peels an apple while rocking on the porch. Grandpa's don't need tactical flippy fancy knives.
LOL. True story. Fancy ain't gonna beat that. Hope alls well buddy.
You can get they for 10 bucks or so, when a case sod buster is 5x the cost for basically equal quality and performance they really are a spectacularly good deal
Lol...I was just so excited to get it for under 20. I should have shipped harder. I really like this knife. Very nice. Thanks for watching the support is appriciated.
Hey George, I haven't seen your buck spit fire mini lately. I thought maybe you retired it. Great videos, stay safe.
First thanks for the support. I still have it and it's actually on my small walkabout satchel. Long story short I lost it at work and 2 months later someone found it. It was found by a new employee and he asked a long time employee who it belonged too.. the long time guy immediately said that's George's he gonna be happy with you....lol.. true story.. be safe this coming year.
It looks like a copy of the Queen #70 Country Cousin, which I like better than the CASE Sodbuster.
I need to look at the queens stuff. I love this buster. Thanks for watching
Is Imperial Schrade the same Schrade that make the old timer and uncle Henry knives?
Yes it is. Thanks for 👀
@@2ndchancegeorge thank you.
is that a Liner Lock knife or a Slip Joint?
It's a slip joint. I said liner, it's a slip. Just has the spring lock on the blade. My bad. Thanks for watching
I have to disagree with it being a "liner kock". It didn't appear to be a locking blade at all. Nice review though.
You are right according to blade HQ it is a slip joint???. Thanks for watching its aporiciated. I need all the help I can 😆
Price on Amazon went up to $9.59.
Oh no....tizzy that time of year.....not good. Thanks for heads up
By the way that is not a liner lock, that Is just a back spring you was showing, this is a slip joint this is NOT a locking knife.
You are correct my bad thankyou for pointing that out. Much appriciated. I should pay more attention to what I say. Getting old.....
