100% single-segment speedrun of Aladdin, NTSC-U version, done on BizHawk 1.8.1 Compatibility Core, non-TAS of course. This run aims to beat the game as fast as possible, while collecting all 70 red gems. Timing starts when I press START at the title screen and ends when Snake Jafar receives the 8th (and final) hit.
This is one of the best runs I've done, in any game. World 1 was a bit sloppy (although, I got the early platform at the beginning, which is pretty hard to do and saves ~2.5 seconds), but apart from that and a few very minor mistakes, everything went as planned, and Jafar decided to give me his best RNG. I am very happy with this run. Finishing with 0 apples and 0 gems makes it even more beautiful.
Reaching the early log in 2-2 while catching the two red gems is possible, but it is extremely hard and requires amazing R-mashing skills. I decided not to go for it; that strat is much more reliable in Any%. I think 17:30 can still be achieved with near-perfect execution, crazy R-mashing and godly RNG. Good luck to anyone who wants to go for it.

My parents wouldn’t get me video games as a kid, so I had to go to my friends house to play this. Never did get past the magic carpet level, cool to see the rest of the game! The nostalgia is real

I’m sorry to hear that. That is probably even worse than being banned from playing video games for 1 whole entire year until my final exam is over. Cos if I hear an ungrateful kid complaining about having no video games for 1 week, I’d tell him my story of my Sony Playstation being locked up for a year.
But at least you’ve got to play at a friend’s house.

the dancing on the stage before the carpet escape is the most gang gang shit i've ever seen.
My friend and I (both in our 30s) spent like 5 hours trying to beat this game (we finally ended up beating it) without knowing you could glide with that thing. We thought it was a scroll and had no idea what it was for.
Haha, thanks for sharing. There's worse, I've seen some beginners of this game who didn't even know you could run with the Y button :D

This was my favorite game.
Beat it hundreds of times.
But I also thought it was just a scroll or something and never realized you could glide.
Beating it without gliding is more challenging if I remember.

Omg this game sounds nostalgic to me. I had 5 years old when i play alladin for the first time. I finished this game all the time and my mother was pregnant we sleep together. She hates this game even today, specially the flying carpet part because the music is annoying. rsrsrsrs. Good times
Revisited it, what a cool game. I had more fun than with any modern games. I was so surprised that the game is entertaining, not too challenging so you can really play relaxed.

It is TAS. If it's not, you are so fast that can click R buttom frame by frame.
I can mash moderately fast (10 to 12 times a second) which is FAR from what a TAS can do (30 times a second). You might want to watch a TAS of this game and see how much faster they are ;)

That's because you need to wait a bit for the next platform as it's coming to the left. Otherwise, you can't directly jump onto it and you'll have to grab its ledge, which is slower.
@@LeHulk1 I figured you could jump on the flying pot which is ignored here to cover the distance.
@@a2pha That doesn't work either because that pot bird is too low. I would still need to grab the ledge and lose time.
@@LeHulk1 I suppose that avenue was checked. Alright. I know these speedruns have to be timed to the frame.
@@a2pha Yeah, this game has been studied quite a bit. And actually, this is an old run! In my most recent PB for this category (17:15), I don't wait there anymore. Instead I perform a slide jump (run forward, press opposite direction for 2 frames, then forward again + jump) which covers slightly more distance and is enough to cross the gap without waiting.

This game was the most disappointing game I have ever played. Don't get me wrong, it is very good, fun to play and nicely designed. It's just when you're a 12-year old kid having poor parents and only get 2 games per year, and this game lies under your Christmas tree, and you beat it in 2 hours on the same evening, then that's a real bummer.
Way too easy, way too short.

Finished the sega version the other day (had it as a kid) and never got the snes one as i heard it wasn't as good. only Started playing the SNES game today but seems fun but i can see it being a breeze to get through. ive been there though when you spend a load of cash on one game and finish it within 24 hours!
