Yes she was sick with a bad cold and sore throat 103 Temp then, She performed Michael Jackson's I'll be there and At Last, She shattered her voice in the middle of I'll be there and went on to kill At Last. Her cold actually made her voice more raspy for At Last. She's Amazing. The G.O.A.T. IMO !
This is utterly fantastic. However, in my opinion, the other version is even better, in spite of the fact she wasn't feeling well. By her voice and stage presence in the other video, you would NEVER know she was under the weather! Just an amazing, wonderful young lady!
Hi all of you . This Is from a Norwegian show where everybody can sing along, and PROFECIONALS film the public. Angelina was a guest artist among meny others. The thow was on TV once a week in the summer. So Please.....
@@wenchenergaard6464 Are you referring to _Allsang på Grensen_ ? She was on that several times. But I don't see the connection to this discussion here… (?)
The charity event when she was under the weather is my favorite. Her look of disgust when she finishes that one shows how serious she is. She could not hit her normal notes. But that hoarseness really made it magic.
For me, when her health is not at it's best, she can't get the notes she wants, the emotion that she adds to the performance far outstrips the limitations. As an 8 year old her performances of "At Last" and "I'll be there" are outstanding, even though she had thought otherwise. How can such a young person be so professional, dedicated to achieving perfection?
@@lesgray6183 yeah I think we’ve both traded comments on I’ll be there before. But that performance is just so emotionally captivating. She really looks like she’s in pain. But the show must go on with Angie. Nobody emotes lyrics like Angelina. And that she dropped that song into a minor key and slowed it down just made it so moving
Because Angelina was under the weather, at the other charity version, it added a beautiful rich raspiness that made it her best rendition of this song, till this day.
Just a 9 year old girl giving a jazz concert. Angelina gives a wonderful version of this classic song. A few months before this, Angelina sang At Last at a charity event not too long after catching a cold while performing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. Somehow Angelina turns her congestion to her advantage and gives a great performance and it is worth reacting to......as is any performance by our barefoot princess.
I am a fool to want you, she is 11 in the recording studio for her album It’s Magic...to me it is one of her best performances to date and I think you will love it...thanks for another great reaction, have a wonderful day.
We are blessed to have Grandma filming Angelina at every opportunity. Without her we would never have seen her at many events. We would never have seen rehearsals, birthdays, strolling through department stores, record shops, amusement parks, school events and many more that will be used to create a history of the greatest artist who has lived in my time. 1942 till the present. Don’t be dissen Grandma 😊😊😉
The other version she was younger and in my opinion her what is even better I recommend the other version..:. So glad you’re covering Angelina thank you
Play the other one too. It might have been fun to do both together. Some like that her voice cracks a bit and how determined it shows she is. She commited to performing for the charity on life TV.. band is booked, the seats are full.. que the band and start the cameras.
Not only do I love Angelina, but I really appreciate your little bits of history that you add and I LOVE your speaking voice. Anything you would narrate I would watch/listen to. So mellow, love it!
You’ll see that there are a bunch of Angelina videos that were filmed with a hand held camera, so the sound and visuals are not the best. But we’re fortunate nonetheless that someone recorded them. There is a video of a great jazz band with trombone backing Angelina on Cry Me a River. You know right away that she’s the real thing-a true jazz singer giving us a version that she’s feeling that day. I never thought anyone could touch Julie London’s classic version, but Angelina gives us sophisticated bluesy jazz so casually and effortlessly, and it’s stunning. UA-cam won’t let me send you a link, but it’s the version dated 21.07.2017. Angelina at 12 years old, sounding like 45.
The other version was better. She was younger, did not know she was a little sick! In the other version she is singing live and you can hear her better. Seems to have been on a tv show with clouds etc. in the background. Please react to this one also.
Mr. LBoyd, I enjoy your reactions to Angelina Jordan. She is "amazing and superb and mind blowing" in the versatility of her talented and incredible voice. She is one of two exceptional talents that I am following and I have never been disappointed by any of her peformances.
This performance is so often overlooked and I don't know why. Angelina is the most animated I have seen her and just plain looks like she is having the time of her life.

The video of her performance at a younger age while sick is my favorite!! Would love to see your reaction to it. There is also a rehearsal video which I just discovered this morning when she was 10 or 11 with a full wind ensemble that is spectacular!!
There were many friends, classmates and teachers from Angelina's school at the 2015 concert. (those are people in the scene when you ask why) Angelina was very happy and had a lot of fun with the great reaction of the audience. I really enjoy Angelina's performance at the same concert of "I Fell Good" in Rusty's video. ✌️😎✌️💯 *AJ* 💯👣
I really love your reactions. They are excellent and profound. Thank you for that. Because you love the Jazz so much, please react to Bang Bang and Summertime from her . She presented both songs in Norway got Talent. They are really worth to be listened and reacted to. I would be really thankful
Yes Grandma drives us all a little crazy with her camera technique, I'm afraid it did not get much better over the years - but without it the story of Angelina would not be complete Please Mery, keep up the good work!
I love the video of the rehearsal for this performance (I think, same band anyway). At the start, she steps to the mic while the pianist plays 1 1/2 bars intro, she interrupts "I guess we're doing the Eta version?". Band members chuckle, "How do you know that?" one asks. "That was the Eta timing" she replies. Band seems amazed. Do "Every Time we say goodbye", acoustic, 10 yrs old, rooftop of TV station in Oslo.
Every time I hear a AJ rendition or this song, I’m alway amazed at the way she takes every bit of available time with the song.. She had this innate time keeping at such a young age she is truly unbelievable..
As you see these early live videos are absolutely raw probably filmed by Angelina's grandma. Even if Angelina was sick on the other performance, she wanted to sing anyway because it was for charity. I think that although she wasn't please at the end, you can see that in her face, I like that other performance better.
Actually the Charitable concert version when she is sick adds a whole different flavor to her voice for this wonderful song. Even sick she decided she needed to perform for the charity event...our girl is a consummate professional even at a young age and you may really enjoy the other version. Just keep that in mind.

Imagine this is recorded on a phone. Do the other one as well, even if she was sick, she did amazingly!
This is filmed in the North of Norway. 9 years old. A lot of younger fans. She is still barefooted despite that it might be a bit chilly that day. Not many her age sings like that.
By the end, I was thinking that “Grandma” or “Mom” or whoever was filming, may have recognized a friend in the audience and was returning to them to catch their reaction. In any event, it’s occasionally annoying to watch, but this video is better than not having a recording of this event at all. All of us just can’t get too much of Angelina’s beautiful voice.
The first few notes capture us and Angelina really loves jazz and does it in pure style. When Angelina sings it it’s almost like she’s talking to us. I really like your reactions are very very informative.
It's very nice that you continue on your journey of discovery of Angelina, it's a bit like entering a wonderland, where one experience is never the same as another. This is a song that she interprets in a fantastic way, especially in the her first years of musical experiences, but has few public recordings and some of rehearsal of recordings, in this the quality isn't the best from the musical point , but it still represents a beautiful image of her first jazz concerts. I also believe that the 2015 recording is better, at least in terms of sound quality and professionalism of the shooting. She is so different from all the other current singers, listening to Angelina is very close to turning into a mystical experience, I like it more and more every time. 😊 ❤️
It's the little "imperfections" in the other performance when she was a little "under the weather" that makes that one my favorite (even though this one is the "better" vocal performance).
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS TO ANGIE, PLEASE CONSIDER ( I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU), the Billie Holiday version, ACAPELLA at 7 years old, then possibility ( EVERYTIME WE SAY GOODBYE)the Ella Fitzgerald version, on a rooftop in Oslo, only a guitar accompaniment. 10 yrs old
I'm happy you persevered through this video despite the spaziness of the camera guy. It had to be COLD performing outside that day, and that is some of what shows. She really did pull off being the best Angelina she could be in that setting. :)
In my opinion her slightly cracking voice in the performance where she was sick only added to the song. Consequently she even seems to have added it as an additional effect to her toolbag.
I think this is the one where after the concert ends Angelina crawls out to the edge of the stage on her tummy and gives her flowery crown to a girl in the front row.
Thank you for another good reaction to Angelina. I agree with all those commenting that you should react to the earlier performance of this song. Fernando has given you the link, but I will reference it here, just in case something goes wrong. She sang at the Nobel Peace Prize performance in Norway in December winter, and got a nasty cold. As she had promised to sing at a concert for Local Heroes in Sweden a few days later she ignored advice not to sing because she was determined to honour her commitment. She gave an incredibly emotional performance;. age 8 - Charity Concert in Sweden- "I'll be there":ua-cam.com/video/VJIwvWdoO3o/v-deo.html and shortly afterwards, performed at the Charity concert where she sang: age 8 - Charity Concert: At last: ua-cam.com/video/819bQ9I-T-g/v-deo.html I am certain you will enjoy reacting to both of these performances.
If you go back to eight, What a difference a day makes, the Dinah Washington classic. Go forward a little to Shield live on Norwegian t.v. it is her third original song and one with good production value.
Hello MrLboyd, great reaction. I like this one for the reasons you mentioned, but I like the other one, for cause she was fighting a cold she did it a little different & even with her rare AP ability she will sometime do things imperfect (perfect in imperfections) so it sounds more organic & to get a feeling across. Angie's musicality & music intelligence have always been off the charts, Here's the links to the other one & remember Angie never sings a song the same way twice, you could say they’ll all be 1st time reactions. “At Last” cover by Etta James she’s 8 almost 9 ua-cam.com/video/819bQ9I-T-g/v-deo.html it's live & she's getting over a cold. You could start from where it all began. “I who have nothing” by Ben E. King & covered by Tom Jones & Shirley Bassey. The other version was at a fundraiser. Her throat was hoarse from a cold but she refused to back out of the performance, shows her commitment and professionalism even at a young age. You can tell she wasn't at her best but it was still a brilliant performance, she some how managed to use her hoarseness as an added effect. You can tell by her face at the end of the song that she wasn't happy with her performance, being a perfectionist. There're are some other performances out there where she was ill and didn't sound great, i think one of them is 'I'll be there', a Micheal Jackson song, also performed at an event, possibly the same one as 'At last'. Just bare it in mind if you hear something from AJ that sounds "off", she may have been ill at the time. A certain other reactor didn't even question it when hearing one such performance, didn't even ask for comments to try to get more info, just proceeded to put her down because she wasn't as good as she normally is. I don't watch her reactions anymore. Anyway, i've rambled on enough, love your reactions to AJ and looking forward to more.
I have commented once already on this video but would like to add that I think I prefer the other video even though she was sick. I really prefer the arrangement on that video versus this video.
She made this version when she was 9 years old, and she has several more, including a rehearsal to sing in a soceer stadium. There is a better version recorded a year before for a private event, (also with a crazy camera, surely a family member). The version in which she had a little cold (8 years old), is highly recommended, although it was not as congested as when she interpreted 'I'll be there' by Michael, which I also recommend for the enormous emotion it transmits.
Listen to the other version too. I'd like to see what you think of it (for what it's worth I like it better, even though she was not completely healthy for that one. And yeah, Grandma Mery was probably the videographer. I'm so glad she captured so many "Angelina moments" like this, but she zooms in and out a LOT, and too often seems to get distracted from the "talent."
I enjoying the ride with you, even though I’ve taken the rude solo, and with other reactors. I don’t know your background, but you seem to have a keen jazz oriented ear. I also love your voice and clear enunciation. ITT helps make your reactions more enjoyable.

The other version is what its all about if you want to treat yourself:) This however wasn't bad
I am number 550 to LIKE 💚
She made this version when she was 9 years old, and she has several more, including a rehearsal to sing in a soceer stadium.
The other one I liked more but here you see the raw young kid genius figuring things out in this.
You do need to look at the other one because the circumstances are better. I think you will agree.
By the end of the song she figured out how to USE her hoarseness from the cold, or flu she had.
All of me Billie Holiday, please. Love your reactions!
She was sick but yes displays a sense of maturity as “the show must go on” where as the other shows an incense with the vocal maturity.
I think Angelina,s grand mother who is filming that live consert
If she's this good, filmed on someone's phone, damn
I agree with most comments that the other version was better. That is the version I like to view.
Reactions to I’m still holding onto you
How the hell does she sing this way at such a young age. I don't get it. A real prodigy
Love your reactions, man, and trust me you ain't seen nothin' yet. Well. OK you've seen sumpthin' but you know what I mean 😎
