Shout out to all the autistics who don’t feel autistic enough! I recommend looking at really old photos of yourself, as like a toddler, before you started masking. There’s something so affirming about seeing a toddler with T rex arms and no smile only talking about extinct marsupials when some days, I’m worried I’m just attention seeking.

I have an old journal my mom kept from when I was 1-2 filled with pages talking about how quiet I was and how I would just sit in my carriage and observe everything around me (except for when I was sick, which made me cry a lot due to the bad sensory input of Feeling Icky, which I still relate to so much)

Some of the best affirmation I've ever heard is, "if you're worried that you *might* be faking something, odds are pretty good that you're not. People who are faking something do it on purpose, they know they're pretending."

Kingrosalani: I've never greeted people ever
my autistic ass: it is imperative that i greet everyone I even vaguely pass. and it must be at the precise right timing or we're walking past without saying anything and will feel embarrassed at not socialling correctly for the next ten minutes. the pitch must be perfect, PERFECT!

Fun fact: The iconic barber pole that's red and white is from when barbers used to perform surgery on customers, as well as tooth removals The original pole had a brass wash basin at the top (representing the vessel in which leeches were kept) and bottom (representing the basin that received the blood). the red stripes came from when they would wrap the blood-stained cloth bandages around the white pole to dry.
enjoy this morbid piece of info 🥦

Before I discovered the best word, I never greeted anyone. The one time I approached some girls was terrible. I was in a big boat cruise thingie and as I was and still am a teenager, I went to a teenager hangout place. Where teenagers flock to as they are strange. I sat in a spinny chair for around an hour reading Lord of the Rings before getting up and trying to make a friend.
I approached two girls my age and anxiety just happened. The words I said was:
"BASIC HUMAN.... INTERACTION... AHHH" The two girls stared at me and I ran back to the skinny chair in fear and made no friends after that.
My experience with greetings is not fun but I have stolen the personality of Donatello from rottmnt specifically and One Wan Kenobi. So I say either, Hello there or Salutations.
Oh man that was a long paragraph. Danggg

9:07 this is so real, but I still don't tell people that my love league is receiving gifts, cos I don't know how to act when someone give me a gift, I don't know how to act so they know I like it if is not saying I like it, AND I KNOW that allistics don't find me saying them with a straight face that I love it means that I love it, but I don't know any other way to express that besides telling them, I would die for you, I love you, I am not having any tears in my face right now, but I would cry for happiness right now, I'm just dry, but I still would die for you

i also don't greet people. i think the reason i (don't) do that is because i genuinely don't know when i'm allowed to talk to people, or when i'm invited to being a part of the being-in-community-party

Regarding the last clip, speaking as someone who just had a meltdown after an incredibly busy day on top of weeks anticipation for moving coming to fruition...
If an autistic person doesnt ask for your help dont force it on them. For me "How can I help?" Doesnt set me off, but people being well meaning and hearing my rants trying to offer things to help sends me into a whirlwind of guilt and anxiety even if I tell them no.
Im not above asking for help(and that took work), but its gotta be at a time I can actually accept it.

YOOO WAIT THE SPECIAL INTEREST ONE- so this had been my thing that I have also been confused about. I took all of the available autism tests online, I have been researching like crazy for months now. And I was thinking that there is a high chance that I am autistic, but I don't have a special interest.
If you just Google it and look at websites, the (neurotypical) definitions for a special interest are about knowledge and being an expert. I think I read one that said that it's a special interest if an individual, and I'm paraphrasing here, "feels a need to be the most knowledgeable about a specific topic." So, given these definitions, I don't feel a need to be the most knowledge about anything, and I never delve deeply into my interests in an "expert" way.
But, I always felt like these definitions were ignoring the obviously emotional response autistic people have with their special interests (which is why I said they were definitions made from neurotypical standards and perspectives because they centered social and productivity based ideas like being an expert, being "obsessed", or being competitive, as opposed to how an individual feels). So, hearing from other autistic people that you don't need a special interest to be autistic and that special interests don't have to be based on how much knowledge you have but can rather be focused on the immense joy something brings makes so much sense.
Because I get very excited over anything with unicorns, anything involving the moon/space, FNAF, Poppy Playtime, Psychology and Sociology, etc. When I am faced with any of these things, I might not be the most knowledgeable, but I am the happiest person in the room lol and I collect unicorn and space themed items, and FNAF items, when I can and I would probably do that for any of the subjects that make me happy. I want to surround myself in those things because they bring me comfort and immense joy. This is the same with the color purple, I will buy anything if it is purple 😅😅😅😅 anyways that kind of tamed my doubt surrounding special interests.
This also makes me think of my family, because my mom always thought my oldest sister was autistic but we could never get her tested and she is an adult now doing her own thing, so that's her choice to make. But she is one to collect SpongeBob themed anything and surround herself in her interests, even if they look childish. My mom ofc witnessed other traits that made her think my sister was autistic, but this adds another layer because she isn't an expert on SpongeBob but she LOVES being near anything related to SpongeBob and her other interests and would probably live in a SpongeBob house if she could. Anyways it was just something I noticed about my lovely big sister.
If you read this, what are your special interests and do you interact with them in a standard, knowledge-focused way that it is defined as, or do you interact in a more joy/comfort-focused way? Or both? Or neither? I'm just very curious about this specific aspect of autistic traits.

i probably have one on args/webserieses/unfiction but just the learning part. i love learning about them and then i'm done with any specific one [unless it caught my attention]
i've also recently been told [while lamenting my lack of interests] that i likely have a giant special interest in cats. the animal, and the musical. [musicals are also one] cats have always been my favourite animal and tbh i thought it was genetic how much i loved cats bc my mom and lil bro both also have giant love for cats.

Hey I’m a self diagnosed autistic person and I agree so much with your comment! At the moment I’m struggling with special interests because I feel as if I have to have one and I’m forcing myself to have one. I’m not sure if I have one currently as all throughout my life I have go in and out of special interests, my most serious and long one was from when I was about 8-11 where my parents introduced me to Harry Potter….It got to the point where my bedroom was HP themed and I could remember every line of the movie,I had to do anything to do with HP.IVE watched the moves over 10 times each, now I’m older I till like HP but not as much as before it’s made me so happy and I was extremely knowledgeable on it(more than the average 10yer old,I knew about all the actors lives and knew about all the lesser known characters back stories lol)I went through small phases(that may have just been phases)like stitch ect.Now I don’t know what to consider a special interest, I adore cats and being around them brings me so much joy (I have 6 cats) i know quite a bit about them but idk if it’s a special interest. I also think one of my special interests is autism itself (I know that to be self diagnosed or autistic in general you are usually very educated on it) but I do tons of research every day and it makes me happy learning about it. I still feel like I don’t have a good enough special interest but that might be because I’ve had/do have so many(as a child I loved dinosaurs)and some things that might be my special interest now include:crystals, cats,TVD,nature, mushrooms?,and more that I can’t remember at the moment lol. As for your question (this may take a bit of explaining so I apologise in advance)I have always been near the top of my class,I correct people often, and I do research for fun(I also used to make more homework for myself when I was ages 6-10)however I find it difficult personally to do things that purely bring me joy all the time,I still do things that make me happy like art and gaming ect,but I have always needed either an explanation or an answer, something factual but now I’m trying to let loose a bit and do things that just make me happy so for your answer I’m not sure I think both. Thanx for reading this long comment I just needed to get it off my chest! If u do have any advice pls reply to this comment!
