    Software was a German electronic duo active between 1984 and 2000, comprising Peter Mergener (born 1951) and Michael Weisser (born 1948). The group released their records under Innovative Communication label, which also released a number of other electronic musicians. From 1990 to 1992 Weisser produced, during a temporary break with Mergener, four albums under the Software name with a different group composition: Fragrance with Klaus Schulze and Georg Stettner (born 1970), and Modesty-Blaze I / II and Cave with Billy Byte (Stephan Töteberg). After the dissolution of Software in 1999, the two musicians went their separate ways: Peter Mergener continues to compose and play electronic music, while Michael Weisser is currently, among other things, active as a media artist.

    I love your recording, so pop and click free (though I do hear your bearing). Are you using an elliptical stylus? What are your tips and tricks for keeping your records dust free. On my TT I try hard to keep my records clean yet still get pops and clicks. My stuff aint cheap neither.

      This is stock cartridge N-6516-1. As what I could find this is elliptical needle, but what else it could be? I don't have a washing machine yet, it is quite expensive. I use a cheap antistatic spray for plastic without alcohol on the base of distilled water and acryl, it evaporates almost completely and leaves only transparent white trace of acryl, which has no effect on anything and can be removed later, if use a washing machine. There's also a silicone roller for dust and particles similar to Nagaoka, but Japanese one is insanely expensive and also almost unavailable, there are similar rollers with identical quality, just search for sticky roller. I use German vinyl specialized roller from Analogis and also a tool set with stylus cleaner and a brush. I don't like that brush is losing the hair and they are left in the grooves, so use it less now. I don't hear any bearing. The mass is noisy as this is picture disc. But actually it sounds better, because the audio was cleaned from heavy clicks, though leaving the light clicks and background noise for more natural sound as we are listening to vinyl here in first place. Generally I don't like that noise so I use more aggressive cleaning for stand-alone audio rips. There's some electrical interference heard during side change, but that's just background noise mixed in from environmental sound, which is heard only during these moments.

      The path of most records after 1980 goes through digital recording and mixing. Final mastering for CD and vinyl is different and this is vital difference.

      I read a few years ago that the Russian female voice sample on this track was actually a real archive audio of a cosmonaut speaking to ground control and that the mission she was on ended in catastrophic crash with all cosmonauts killed. Is that correct?

      5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1... 2, 3, 4, 5, entrando, entrando, entrando... escuchen, escuchen, entrando, entrando ¡háblenme!, ¡háblenme!, ¡tengo calor!, ¡tengo calor!, ¿Qué?, ¿45?, ¿Qué?, ¿45?, ¿50?, si, si, si, respirando, respirando, oxigeno, oxigeno. ¡Tengo calor! ¿Esto es peligroso? Esta todo... ¿Esto es peligroso? Está todo... si, si, si, ¿cómo es esto? ¿Qué? ¡Háblenme! ¿Cómo debo transmitir? nuestra transmisión comienza ahora... 41... de esta manera... nuestra transmisión comienza ahora 41... de esta manera... si, siento calor, siento calor, siento calor, es todo... ¡Puedo ver una llama! ¿Qué? ¡Puedo ver una llama! ¡Puedo ver una llama! ¡Puedo ver una llama! siento calor... siento calor... 32, 32, 32, 41, 41... ¿Me voy a estrellar? Si, si, si siento calor... Voy a reingresar... ¡Estoy escuchando!... ¡Siento calor!
      La unión soviética por aquel entonces desmintió aquello incluso la agencia de prensa TASS dijo que un satélite se habria quemado y desintegrado en su reingreso a la tierra.
      Mito o realidad? Hasta el día de hoy no lo sabemos. Saludos desde Chile

    • @vinyltogether
      @vinyltogether  7 років тому

      Да какой тут может быть рокот на ременном приводе? Ну а шумная масса у пикчер-диска само собой: море щелчков и повышенный фон, но этот фон вполне однородный и плавный.
