Sometimes just packaging something so it's more accessible for people makes a big difference. True, there is no radical new invention here but it's a good package and the components seem high quality.
Great video explaining the CarGenerator. You answered my main question which was about idling a vehicle for a long period of time. I will be buying one instead of the propane generator I planned on getting. Many thanks!
It's a convenient package for some folks I suppose, but it's just an inverter in a big housing with room for decent cables at a premium price. Thanks for your words of caution about hooking up cables or exposing long hair, etc. to the belts and fan. We had a friend yank on the cable of an inflator with battery clamps. The cable came off, wrapped around the cranshaft, and destroyed fanbelts. Ruined a day of rafting and cost us some money, but at least nobody was hurt. Injury is possible.
I believe I’ve got a something similar this inverter installed in my Ram truck from the factory. I’m curious on its own it does not in fact generate anything correct? A battery, solar panels, or fuel driven inverter generator generate power. Seems an inverter type name would’ve been more appropriate.
Correct - what this basically is is an inverter that you clamp to the battery. If you already have one in the Ram it may perform the same function. We are only speculating here but the term "generator" is so well understood that's why it's used here and also in "solar generators" even though they, too, are not generators. We suspect if they called it something different it wouldn't have registered with a lot of people.
We have a detailed article about the CarGenerator here: www.stresslesscamping.com/blog/car-generator But, to answer your question, it produces 1,000 watts continuous.
FyI Hemi engines may experience valve and liffter issues at idle, as oil is not being thrown up into the liffters as effectively as smoking the tires... I do like this for my non mds hemi 3/4 ton..
I had heard that the 5.7 doesn't like to be at idle for extended periods of time but the 6.4 is okay. Now we've upgraded trucks to a 3/4 ton Ram with the 6.4 and this one also has a much larger alternator so we'll have to see how it all plays out. Thanks for the info.
Wow! Thank you for this information. I’ve been looking into generators and have not been happy with the gas option and the weight for this “old” lady to lug around.
@@valeriechaffins4638 What we do is use the standard connector to the travel trailer with a 30 amp to household outlet connector - the same thing you'd use if you wanted to plug your travel trailer into a normal household outlet.
;) invented
Invented nothing
Isn't that just an inverter with heavy cords?

Being an "old car guy" I've seen plenty of things happen when something gets caught in the fan belt. Glad nobody was hurt in your example - yikes!

How much watt does ur car generator produce?
CarGenerator works great with ALL modern vehicles, gas, diesel, hybrid, and pure EV electric vehicles also
Good to know!
Shouldn’t there be a fuse between battery and inverter?
I suspect they have got it all dialed in.
This sounds really interesting! Thanks for sharing about @CarGenerator Inc.

Not to mention the lack of maintenance and easy storage. This thing is pretty nifty.
And please don't call our viewers old! 😀
@@StressLessCamping but I resemble that remark! Lol. Okaaay. People with loads of experience!

@@StressLessCamping thank you. I was kinda thinking that’s how it would work but since I’ve never used a generator I wasn’t sure.
