A lot of great info about tent camping, we have a similar pop-up gazebo that is very cool and we also bought the side covers and then we hang lights inside
Tuba Skinny, one of our favorites on UA-cam! ❤
Great video and breakdown of your camping trip. Looked a lot more comfortable than what I imagined it was going to be. Big Boy is HUUUGGGE! With all the QR codes we could make a drinking game out of it.
❤ Love it, thanks for that very valuable information!
Happy to help!
question, when you travel, is there an app that tell you places to see in that area?
I use a few different apps. If you are on Route 66, The Ultimate Route 66 Guide is good. When we get to an area, I use "Roadside" from Roadside America, "Atlas Obscura" for the bit more dark attractions, like gravesites and weird museums. While driving, we use the "Autio" app to hear stories about the area we are in. Also, "Explore Here" shows us historical marker locations. "Clio" is a guide to history and culture. And "Pubquest" tells us where to get a beer at the end of a long day! We also rely on listeners offering ideas; I keep a spreadsheet of places people recommend.
@@StressLessCamping thank you. very helpful
oh wow, my husband just found you channel and we are so glad. i just retired as a nurse a few months ago and my husband and i in 2021 bought the rockwood ultra 2608bs. we love it and needed the extra room b/c we have 4 boston terriers . lol you came to new orleans and were very close to where we live. we live across the lake in slidell , la. near abita springs. can't wait to go back and watch your other videos. we belong to frog and hope to go to one one day. we don't go far b/c my mom is 92 and on hospice at this time. we want to thank you for sharing and wish you great travels. hope to meet one day. God bless from chuck and susan b. in south la..
Thanks for the video and have fun camping. I miss camping with my family. The main point of going camping was a lot different for us than many I see today. We left all the electronics at home except for emergency communications and enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hiking, hunting and just having fun. It's nice to have your kids talk to you and pay attention to their surroundings but not the electronics.
As a kid, I also loved going camping and running around the desert with my cousins. We could only go on weekends, of course, because all the grown ups had Monday-Friday jobs. The freedom of working when and where we are has made camping and travel a lot more accessible to a lot of people.
@@StressLessCamping I see more stressed people now than ever before and I believe a lot of it is because they can't get away from their job or the world. They get emails, texts, social media, and news 24/7. 😪 Work and home should be separate things. Like they used to say never bring work home with you.
How cool that you used to run a B & B that was train cars!!! The house we used to live in was a Queen Anne Victorian and we considered for a while opening a B & B too! - Michelle
It was terrific meeting so many great people, and owning railroad cars was a dream come true! On the flip side, it was a ton of work!!
@@StressLessCamping That is so interesting! Yes, ultimately we figured it would be a difficult undertaking. Instead, we sold everything and travel full time. Best job ever!! 😁 - Michelle
@@airstreamer you chose wisely

Thank you for doing this interview! It was great to hear directly from Joel. So much of social media is rumors and not accurate information. We love Harvest Hosts and have used them a lot in our full time RV traveling. The Drive-In Movie theaters being added sounds great! We will have to check those out. - Michelle
How much watt does ur car generator produces?
We have a detailed article about the CarGenerator here: www.stresslesscamping.com/blog/car-generator But, to answer your question, it produces 1,000 watts continuous.
How much watt does ur car generator produce?
Do you folks know where I can find a warner 10×2 brake magnet or any retro fit?
When we had the brakes re-done on this trailer the local tire shop (an independently-owned company - not a chain) did the brakes and did a super job. So they sourced the parts. I would join Tin Can Tourists [tincantourists.com/], if you haven't already, and search their Facebook Group with that question. Tin Can Tourists has been very helpful.
Enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for the video, guys, and have fun camping.
Thanks for the comment and the view!
Rockwood replaced 3 in my 2516. One was dead right out of the box! Had to figure it out myself. Thank me later…. ua-cam.com/video/aJtTQxRvANM/v-deo.htmlsi=fSuUztVhZe_wKo1C
This is great! Thanks for the heads-up. And, even better, our home base is just outside of Albuquerque so if we ever need that fan motor...bam!
Thank you for the information. No one seems to address this issue.
We love maple spam - thanks for turning us on to it! Congrats on 5 years!
Thanks! Now he buys it every time he finds it!
12v fridge. I’m loving having a place to put my groceries when I’m not camping. I don’t have to hurry home.
We never want to remove it from the back seat!
Indiana is a beautiful state. Loved the covered bridges and beautiful streams.
It really is!
I also have the R3 bit hitch and really dislike it. I am going to bite the bullet. And get the TR3.
Just make sure you get the appropriate weight rating for the trailer you own. They offer several capacities. But we do like this hitch.
Looks like the sprayed may be in the “line of fire”? Any issues with that?
Oh the way you wrote that is brilliant. Thus far with our Thetford RV toilet it has never come under attack. No casualties whatsoever.
@@StressLessCamping hahahaha amazing 🙏
The expansion rate of aluminum and steel is very different. You have a steel drum and studs with one expansion rate and the aluminum wheel with a different expansion rate and over time this works the lug nuts lose. If you leave them loose for too long, you get wear between the nut and the softer aluminum wheel so keep their torque to the correct specifications.
Thanks!
Very, very good point.
Happy five years 🥳🎉 If I can't use it I sell it, give it away, or trash it, no room for junk.
That's what we are working on now! No more keeping things we don't need!
I stop by that motel walked down the halls twice before I realized nobody’s working there😂
It was a bit Orwellian initially but was certainly clean and nice. At first we were the only ones there but, later, others showed-up which was also comforting.
Do you have to be a couple to do gate guarding? I used to co-own a security company with my former husband (in CA!)
I would contact them directly. I believe the assumption is that it's a 24 hour job so someone is awake 12 hours but they would have the best answer.
@@StressLessCamping okay... thank you.
This isn’t the right video to comment but I am wondering if you still use the ghost mattress and how it’s holding up. When you did the review it was still pretty new. Thanks if you can respond!
No worries. We still LOVE the GhostBed now that we've had the same mattress in two campers (we wrecked the first one!). We originally wanted one for our home and they didn't make split mattresses then - now they do. We honestly sleep better in the camper than we do at home. For those who don't know here's a story about the GhostBed and a discount code as well: www.stresslesscamping.com/blog/rv-mattress
So you 'soap up' with this sponge gadget, but how do you rinse off? Another sponge? I'm afraid I'm missing something here.
I use one side of the sponge for the soap duty and the other side for the rinse cycle, so to speak. But you could use a second sponge if you choose. The two-sided method has worked for me. A sharpie will help you keep track of which side is which.
Thank God for Cowboy Bob! Years ago, I watched a guy find an underground water line with divining rods. unless you see it or do it yourself it's hard to believe it works. what a fun trip, Tina & I need to head out West. Thanks for sharing!
Oh yeah. Sedona is absolutely magical. And now it's only a day or two away from our home base which is even better.
I haven’t been to Sedona in 20 years! I haven’t gone in the 8 years of RV travel since retirement because in my mind, been there, done that! I must put it on my list to return, I saw so little when there and there’s so much more to see!
Oh yeah, there's enough to do and it keeps changing - at least the man-made things do. We definitely plan to go back again soonish.
Thanks for the info. Looks like a very nice place but probably too expensive for this old retired nomad. I thought the timeshare deal died a long time ago with so many lawsuits. A friend of mine got lucky and got all his money back from the one he had in Vegas. Keep an eye on the fees. No trailer, get a tent, and camp in the woods with Smokey the Bear.🤣 Have fun guys and Happy 4th of July.
The timeshare model that Peggy's family belongs to is different - they buy "credits" each year and can use them all over the country. We think the ones that failed are the "one-location" type.
@@StressLessCamping Sounds better.
Hi Tony & Peggy, fyi, the "strange guitar" is a harp guitar.
Thanks! Now that we saw your comment it sent us down the rabbit hole of videos about these things. What a nifty instrument.
Glad you found it interesting. It is a unique sound. You might want to look for the guitarist Michael Hedges. He played one on a pbs show many years ago, that is where I first saw this guitar. By the way, we love your podcasts!
Thank you for sharing this information with us
And so as for the digicamp @ 21:22 is there a basic season we can work It sounds like anytime you want to put in 90 days you can work??
I would reach out to them directly. A lot of these change over time.
On the gate gaurding do they accept solo workers do you have to be a couple
Our understanding is that they're looking for couples but we could be mistaken. What we understand is that it's a 24/7 job so they figure one person can sleep while the other manages the gate.
@ 12:40 i don't understand
Sorry, what don't you understand? Do you mean you can't hear him properly, or don't understand their package?
We had a Bobs Big Boy in the town where I grew up, but he looked more like a junior cheeseburger compared to these giants!
We had a Bob's Big Boy too and you could rub his belly as you went in for a meal. I believe Bob is about 7' tall - so only a third as tall but, perhaps, equal in mass because Bob had a lot of Big Boy Combos.
During the museum segment the right audio channel cuts in and out. For a moment I suspected that my new headphones were defective. When we cut back to the porch it was fine again. Good video… I’ve been a fan of the Muffler Men since I discovered Roadside America. Loved the ACME joke too.
Yeah doggone it I put the receiver too far from the mics. My fault - new headphones are likely fine. Also -gotta make the Acme jokes with so much inspiration around here. Speaking of Acme have you seen the guy here on UA-cam who uses home-made jets to power bikes and carts?
@@StressLessCamping I figured it out when the issue was isolated to one scene. I still enjoyed your video.
Cool stop Tony-- and I get just as excited as the curator does whenever I see the weinermobile! One thing I hope the museum can figure out (if they’re watching!!!) is how to offer a second night somewhere in town. Harvest Hosts near several smaller attractions are tough stays for us when we are limited to one nighters. The last thing we want to do is pack up, pull in slides, air up, to move to another spot in the same area. I checked on all 4 currently listed and every one is a single night. 😢
Some Harvest Hosts will allow multi-night stays if you contact them. This town is very tourism-friendly so you might reach out and see. Also the town is very walkable so any of the locations are pretty ideal.
Put a star on my Google Map to stop in next time I'm planning a trip!
I don't even know what to say. Excellent video. I learned, I laughed out loud. Keep it real dudes.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the tour. I remember seeing all of these when I was a kid.
Hobo Joe in buckeye, AZ
Haven’t seen that one to our knowledge.
I got the Mastervolt Power Package on my 2023 Mini Lite 2509s and I love it. It is absolutely awesome and worth the money IMHO. People keep asking about how much does it cost and I figured it adds about $8-10k to the price of the camper.
Thanks for sharing - we’ve been very pleased with the system in our MiniLite as you know.
where would the placement of this new soft start unit from the power source with the Watchdog unit for power source protection?
Just plug it in to the power pedestal but I would place it after the surge suppressor.
Nice looking speaker and they sound really good for their size. I am lucky to still have good hearing and eyesight but like my friend says when you go to buy a TV just get what looks good to you, because as you get older even 4K may not look great to old eyes so don't overspend. The same goes for sound, it will depend on your ears. Thanks for the review.
We have that same fan and love it. I usually clip it right to the arm rest on my chair. Interested tends coming up. I like the look of light furniture but definitely not the dirt.
Are there reliable 12v refrigerators that are highly efficient for boon docking?
We have had very good luck with the Dometic 12 volt refrigerator but you might also consider a 12 volt portable cooler.
Lovely. I had a glass panel shatter randomly in the heat last summer while the camper was sitting. I was going to remove the entire metal framing, now I will just remove the doors! No need to create all that extra work when you can use the curved bar at the top for rings. Genius! Thank you so much for sharing.
...nice review...can it withstand a rooftop tent on it?
I don't think it would. It's pretty tough but that may be more than this was designed to accommodate and it is a bit flexible so I don't think it would be very stable.
Any tips on motor home vs 5wheel?
Not particularly. We are big fans of towable RVs only because it is relatively easy to get a pickup serviced almost anywhere and at a relatively low cost. Plus modern pickups are extraordinary vehicles in so many ways. Motorhomes frequently require more specialized shops. Plus motorized RVs are only about 5% of the market so we just don’t focus on them much.
Great video with some great tips for RV shoppers.
