What I always loved about Lisa, was the little subtle implication that she doesn't actually want to kill you so much as just chase you away from her home while she searches for her mother. She knocks you out but leaves you alone until you wake up, and she only chases you out of her cabin without following even though she absolutely could have began following you out of the forest and even into the mansion. She'll kill you if you stand your ground, but it's like she just wants you to leave her and her territory alone rather than being mindlessly aggressive like all the other monsters.
@@CursedWheelieBin What makes me think that it was deliberate is they went out of their way to have the scene of her knocking out Chris or Jill but leaving them alone until they wake up. Just because it seems like they very deliberately had a scene of her NOT killing you when she had the chance, very much unlike every other infected creature you've encountered. Either they were trying to show she really doesn't want to kill you, or that she has some kind of thought process going on that the other mindless infectees don't have.
She's explicitly a killer but I get what youre saying. I think it's more that she isn't doing it by any choice or malice - she's just deeply, violently disturbed.
THE 29TH BOX OF REALITY I found Steve’s transformation tragic. Sure he was an annoying teenager, but he never deserved to turn into probably one of the most disturbing enemy designs in the series.
@THE 29TH BOX OF REALITY That's a fitting comparison since I think 7 really recaptured REmake's eerie atmosphere. But yeah, while I do pity the Bakers(Well, Jack, Marguerite and Zoe anyway)they didn't go through as much hell as Lisa Trevor.
As an old fan, what I loved about Lisa Trevor is how well she's integrated into the overarching story. She was experimented not with the T-virus you fight in the REmake, but with the original virus that was the focus of 0 and was suppossed to be the focus of 4 before they scratched it. Her tentacles and her giant eye are there because she was injected with the Nemesis parasite and that made her body the source of what would eventually become the G-virus. I'm not entirelly sure that Lisa ever died, honestly. I expected her to show up in some capacity in some titles over the years like Outbreak. Lisa is ironically the closest they got for decades to what Umbrella was after, as she got the enhancements of a tyrant, the regeneration of the G-virus and got to keep a lot of her sanity. Arguably that was lost because of trauma more than the infection itself.
Lisa does die in one of the dead aim (games. It shoes Wesker having a final showdown with her and Lisa ends up trapped under a chandelier when the mansion explodes
@@xLadyRaine Ah, right. well, if that's still canon then I guess you can say she died. It's not like I was clamoring for her return, I just think she was the most unkillable thing at the time.
@@xLadyRaine Which is kinda weird since they used even an anti tank artillery to kill her, I like to think she's still alive and she's roaming the Arklay Mountains or even what's left of Racoon City. I don't think she's that easy to kill.
doubt there are any connections regarding that. though jill is blue and she gets poisoned and barry helps her out like a red herb? lol. idk. Chris gets poisoned by the snake too so idk if it had anything to do with herbs rather than popular colors. lol.
Lisa trevor hands down was the creepiest thing for playing this as a kid, I had read all the notes that lead up to her fate, when I finally encountered her I was so disturbed and scared. Stuck with me as a kid and everytime I play the game now, it still gives me shivers.
Shintaro you end up feeling very bad for her... I was definitely disturbed and scared but knowing that she didn’t ask for any of that is very, very unsettling :(
@@joshdavis8381 - both are cartoon characters tho. You have no idea what the woman behind this channel even looks like. Being attracted to cartoon avatars is degenerate asf 😒
If once get the armour (armor) key, you head straight downstairs past that birdcage where the crows are, get to the main hall, back upstairs and out onto the 2nd storey balcony(where you killed the pooch earlier), you can KILL the zombie before he breaks his way through the door. You can also kill the zombie occupying the area where Richard was lying down, and that’ll prevent him from bursting into the 2nd floor east hallway. There are lots of little gameplay twists that can be discovered years and years after replaying this game. A hunter can spawn in the ground floor west hallway if you’ve previously killed the zombies in there 😁

You know something else that's just so sad about Lisa Trevor? The fact her fireplace was going means at one point she was kneeling down, placing firewood, and trying to get that fire started. That humanizes her so much that it makes her even more sympathetic. She wasn't just an undead creature lurking in the ruins.
@@KennyG881 Definitely. Still my favorite RE game. The "flaws" have just become more noticeable with the recent HD releases (when it comes to the cutscenes/static backgrounds).
Fun fact, Jill's background as being in the army and former Delta Force would make her literally the most badass woman ever to have existed. Delta Force is THE Super Elite anti-terrorism Special Forces unit. In order to even get to apply for it you have to already be an outstanding member of the Army, they recruit from Green Berets, Rangers and even Navy SEALS sometimes. The trials to get into Delta Force are extremely tough, most wash out and to date, no woman has even passed them IRL. Thing is, Jill is like 22 or 23 by the time of RE1. Even for men, that's too young. Which means in order to qualify to apply for Delta and pass the trials, she would have to be like the Mozart of military operators, a real prodigy, and possibly borderline superhuman lol, her credentials are such that she would necessarily be way more badass than Chris who washed out of the air force. Maybe in more recent years they've given her a more realistic background, but I think her original is so badass.
@20xitysix oh without a doubt. And I wasn't denying that she was in Delta Force - I don't actually know that. I was simply stating that Delta Force are an Army unit that recruit from within the Army, not outsourcing to the Navy.
And yet people hate Jill in the 3 remake because she is a badass strong woman. I see people say that's not how she used to be and I call bs on that. People be weird
@M. Sami at least re2 has a lot of things to do in remake2, and changed all graphic/gameplay/environment, it's a real remake, remake1 use the same formula with more graphics and some new rooms, re2make redesigned all the environments. the only think re2make did really worse it's the A B scenario being the same, and not a real continuation/parallel with the other character
Something I really like about these games is the little character things that carry over across the series. Things like the characters all having a distinct color palette across all games, and the walk animations being distinct for each character and carried across every game. Super cool stuff
Not really IMO. People and monsters looked really good for a 6th gen game, but most of the environment are jpegs. So it's not like it's pushing the hardware in any significant way.
@@raresmacovei8382 exactly, it was more of an artistic achievement than a technical one. In that regard re4 is much more impressive. Nonetheless it is a beatiful game. ♥️
32:36 Personally, I've always kind of thought of the book version as the canon version since it addresses some glaring plot holes. Chief among them, Barry and Rebecca. In later games, these two are clearly alive and well. But in RE1, depending on who you play as, it's heavily implied that one of them dies. The book addresses this by creating a hybrid story that switches between Jill and Chris's stories and ends with Jill, Chris, Rebecca and Barry all escaping together.
It's less of a plothole, more of a canon-noncanon ending type scenario. The good ending is obviously the canon one, as is true as well with Fallout 1 and 2, as well as Silent Hill. Your character dying in FO1 and 2 is a legitimate ending, there is also the ending for getting dipped into the vats - but FO2 couldn't happen if that happens in FO1, and New Vegas couldn't happen if FO2 didn't happen. In SIlent Hill as well, the Good + Ending (or whatever it's called) is the ending where Dadman McForgotthename escapes with the child as well as Cybil. This leads into Silent Hill 3, which claims that Dadman McForgotthename raised the child into Heather. So it's not really a plothole, as much as it could be taken as alternate universes.
You notice how her hands are bound I wonder how dangerous she would be if she didn't have her hands bound she had free movement of her arms I bet she would be even bigger threat
I don't know if I'm correct but I remember reading in various re websites that Lisa was experimented on for years and in those years umbrella infected her with the nemesis parasite. That's why she is unstoppable
@@greedkingcobalt200 Yes, as per canon, she was injected with it and she ended up destroying it. She even makes a reappearance in the darkside chronicles.
REmake was my introduction to the series. It was early 2003, I was nine years old (soon to be ten), and my dad rented the game from Blockbuster. Though my experience with horror was limited at the time, I decided to give it a spin and see how I felt about it. The first thing I noticed was the control scheme - stiff, awkward, finicky. It took some getting used to, though not as much as some people might think. I got the hang of it, and over next few weeks, my dad and I experienced moments in this game that would forever be etched into my memory as iconic. A horde of zombies smashing through the windows of the east wing hallway. A giant, venomous snake slithering around in a dust-laden attic. Our brief foray into the residence and its myriad horrors, from the giant tarantulas in the rec room to the bloodthirsty sharks in the basement. While we're on the subject, let me take this opportunity to say that Richard's death really affected me at the time. It was one of the most tragic moments I'd ever experienced in a video game, and although it would be a long time before I picked it up again, I never forgot his heroic sacrifice. Wesker's betrayal was another shocking moment. When I first played this game, I didn't know the Resident Evil storyline and saw Wesker as the team leader, a father to his men. (Also, my dad played through certain portions of the game while I was at school - including the earlier segment of the lab where Wesker was revealed to be working for Umbrella.) When Chris and Rebecca encountered him again and he turned on us, it was the shock of all shocks. After we had completed the game and returned it to the rental store, it would be another seven years before I got a chance to experience REmake again, this time for the Wii. At sixteen years old, I was ready to relive the terrors that captivated me as a young child; in so doing, I also experienced a few new ones that I didn't get to see my first time around. I will never forget my first encounter with Lisa Trevor in her cabin atop the hill. When I entered the house, it seemed peaceful enough - almost like a safe room, but without the music. Turns out, I remembered this location from when I was nine, and I remember my dad telling me that there was a "really bad" enemy here at some point. Soon enough, I got the chance to see that enemy for myself. What I had encountered defied simple description. It was too grotesque, too eldritch to even comprehend. All I knew was that this thing was dangerous, and I'd better run. I fled the building and ran as quickly as I possibly could down the winding trail that led me there in the first place, never once looking back to see if she was still pursuing me. I didn't know if I was actually getting chased or not, and I wasn't about to find out. Few enemies have ever had this sort of effect on me before. She was a creature like no other. Today, REmake remains one of my favorite games of all time. No matter how many times I've played through it, I can never seem to overcome the perennial urge to immerse myself in the ornate, caliginous atmosphere of the Spencer Mansion. What I wouldn't give to experience this masterpiece anew all over again.
fuck yeah!!! the new RE2 and re3 "REMAKE" will never be able to beat the 1st remake. they changed the game way too much in the newer "REimagined" games and it doesnt feel as iconic as the originals, or the 1st remake like this one. Lisa Trevor is amazing.
@@KT-rq9id No need to put something new down to raise another. REmake stands on it's own merits but the RE2 remake is fantastic too and RE3 isn't even out yet apart from the very promising demo.
@@KurtisC93 Yeah, even though they dropped the ball with RE3R, it still was a very good game, the presentation and overral atmosphere really captured the essence of a doomed Racoon City.
While I think they look fantastic, saying they look better than what games can do today (RE2R and Last of us 2 come to mind) is kind of an exaggeration. These games don’t even have to limit the camera to do these.
The mansion's insane construction actually ties into Lisa's story as well, as the architect behind the madness was her father, George Trevor. Oswald Spencer paid George a King's ransom to help him design a maddening labyrinth with insane puzzles and such to conceal his secret testing facility. The more George built the mansion, the more crazy he became...which is perhaps why it took him so long to realize that Oswald was using him, and planning on getting rid of him after the mansion was built. George dies realizing he lead his wife and child to their doom.
To this day, REmake is still my favorite game in the series. It's such a beautiful piece of art to look at that has a perfect sense of dread and uncertainty. It expanded on the original ps1 in all the best ways without ruining the original's identity. This is the best remake imo.
Yeah, I agree. Although I have liked playing the RE2 Remake and did not even mind its conversion to 3D environments with over-the-shoulder camera and seamless room transitions, it does not match the atmosphere and near perfection of the RE1 Remake, in my personal opinion.
Still amazed all the stuff u don’t have to do in remake Yawn fight in the attic is optional, plant 42 fight is only required in Chris’ campaign, Black Tiger is optional, and the helipad fight isn’t required if you don’t rescue anyone. Love this game sm
I didn't know that about the helipad fight being skippable. Actually reminds me of Dead By Daylight where if everyone else dies you can skip the last gens+gates and just escape by yourself via the escape hatch.
@@JewTube001if you are the last survivor, after using the flares Brad picks you up and leaves. The mansion doesn't get destroyed and super tyrant's eye is shown at the end
This is the one game i dont want them to remake. We dont need a remake of a remake. Its pure perfection the way it is. Even though i hate tank controls and camera angles. I cant help but admit this is one of the best games i have ever played.
Playing on ps4 it doesnt havr tank controls Finished it yesterday for the first time Loved it Def part were irritsting(the unbelivably small inventory and door loading really was irritating)
I really respect that opinion from you. You may not like the camera angles and tank controls but, you are willing to play it and admit when something is good instead of saying the old games are straight up bad because some people don't give it a chance.
I remember playing the Gamecube Resident Evil and nearly crying for how beautiful it was, and how sleek the dialogue repair had been. And it still holds up.
It's astounding how the remake blew the original out of the water in every way in the span of 6 years. Meanwhile, other games take over a decade to their remakes to come out and they just have their ups and down compared to the originals, but never better. This remake made the original obsolete and it still holds up today.
I've yet to play the remake, but I still think RE1 is a good game. Exploring the complex mansion and getting lost is still effective horror to this day, even though the dated presentation does hold it back a lot.
The only bad thing about Remake is that it cut the greatest dialogue ever, the one that turned Wesker into the villain we know Wesker: This is the ultimate life form! TYRANT! Chris: Ohohohoahahahaha Wesker: Chris? Chris: Hahahahaha Wesker: Stop it :(
The ultimate Resident Evil experience. All rooms are extremely detailed, the setting is fantastic. The soundtrack and the environment, the camera angles, and even possible difficulties with the control of the characters are essential for the game to work perfectly. We saw what happened with RE3. Capcom, please do not dare to reimagine this game, as it will fail terribly.
@@Yelzabub Do not bother, everzone knows Jill is Barrys secret Waifu, I mean, come on, he saves her arse countless times and makes dirtz sandwhich jokes, and shes like ohh reallz now..., same with Rebecca and Chris, zou dont save that ass, if zou do not want that ass
@@iandonnelly6684Don’t start that. That game is an embarrassment when held up next to this masterpiece. Let’s say they remake CV. They’d have to cut a tonne of content for it to be good, but that would anger people like you who played it as children. You just want the nostalgic feel goods. So much content would need to be redesigned that they’d be better off just starting over from scratch, or just make a brand new game with unique gameplay aspects that offer players something new and interesting (which CV never did). Sorry if you liked it. That’s cool. It just never made the leap from PS1 over to next Gen. It was experimental due to Capcom being unsure at that time what direction the franchise was heading in, hence the wildly different projects in the early 00s

I remember playing REmake when it first came out and being blown away by how insanely good the game looked; the lighting in particular. Even at 540/720p on the Switch port of the HD remaster, it’s almost unbelievable to me that the game I’m playing is almost 20 years old at this point.
This was the first my first Resident Evil game. I fell in love with the attention to detail in the pre-rendered backgrounds. All the notes found throughout the mansion really told the story of the mansion and the horrible things done there. The story of Lisa and her mother was so tragic. The sound design was spot on. The music built the PERFECT amount of tension but didn’t distract from what was going on. I will forever LOVE this game.
the new remakes will never come close to the detail, love, perfection and legendary team of the OG staff that made the 1st remake. the newer remakes seem very flat and "typical remake" stereotypes
I REALLY wish they had done this treatment to the entire first trilogy of games. granted I know they did a crazy good RE2 remake now, but this treatment done to all 3 of the first games would have been simply amazing!! 🤓
@Rómulo Figueroa I also prefer the new gameplay of REmake 2, but it needed lacks many awesome things of the original. Don't get me wrong, I love the remake tho.
Glad you had a whole section about Lisa Trevor, that's one of the most heartbreaking stories in all of RE and had such a major impact on me during my first playthrough of this way back. Even to this day I still think about Lisa every now and then, it's such effective storytelling that it stuck with me for so long.

After just finishing Chris’s side of the story, I overall love the game. I got introduced to the series thanks to RE4 but now I want to know the entire story and I’m glad to have started with this. I’ll either get started with Jill soon or I’ll be heading to Re0 to figure out how Rebecca ended up in the mansion.
I dunno if I agree on the "Barry was in on it the entire time" I always kinda figured that at some point early on when they split up Wesker came to him and showed him that umbrella has his family. I don't think he knew when they were in the forest or when they discover the monsters for the first time. But that's just me

I think that's expanded in later games but Wesker had him in his pocket since the beginning.
Watching this after the RE3 Remake, I feel bad for what they did to RE3R. They should have taken tips on what they did on this remake and kept stuff while adding optional side stories.
@Linda Niemkiewicz very true. Especially since RE3 was one of the fan favourites (mine as well, best RE after Remake 1 and RE2 '98) and had probably the most infamous and iconic enemy of the whole franchise. But, they butchered it. As soon as i heard it got outsourced, i had a bad feeling about this. It could have been pretty easy remaking RE3 in the right way. Add the clock tower, sent Jill to the RPD, let Brad follow you at the beginning on top of the building, Nemesis destroys the helicopter, kills Brad THEN you run him over. Expand the city streets and give Nemesis more chances to stalk and chase you. Then give him a second form like in the original, and let him transform in his beast form at the lab. That's it. Just like the original, but expanded upon with the bigger hospital and stuff. And still Capcom managed to screw this game up. I don't get it.
@Kenzie Jean I think you should. Plus the first half of 3 happens before 2 and there's references to 2 in 3 and playing the RE2/3 remakes in any order doesn't cause any story confusion, etc. I would play 3 to get some of that actiony horror and then switch to 2 to get a more tense, difficult, "RE" horror experience that's closer to the roots of the series
Just finished 2 Remake for the first time yesterday, this masterpiece still remains untouchable and I love it so much. Easily one of the best games of all time.
21:08 Director's Cut music is fine cause it's the original game music, it's Director's Cut Dual Shock version that has the horribly changed music. Had to clear that up.
I remember when I played Resident Evil Remake, remember that with two other friends we finished the game in one night, curiously the game starts at night and ends with the helicopter fleeing the place with the survivors already day, we started playing in the night and we finished the game dawning in my city. The truth is that this video has been a hard work, you have my respects for having given so much dedication and so much effort in this video, what has been said you have all my respects for talking about a game that captivated me for its atmosphere, history and design . I wanted Resi 2 in this style. Remake will always be my favourite Resi. I remember being so hyped for it on gamecube, buying all the magazines featuring it, importing the American version and spending days in a dark room playing it. I introduced it to my friend too recently, made him download it off of Steam after I helped him make his new PC and I watched him play it. Had such glee on my face as memories were brought back.

So glad Capcom is doing a reimagining of this remake again with the OTS view in 2026! Soo stoked as this is my favorite video game of all time aswell! As soon as I heard the news I had to come back and rewatch this awesome review this UA-camr made.
RE:Make the GOAT of Survival Horror, and my favorite in the franchise! Yes, even better than RE4 and RE2. Such greatness and it holds up even to today.
There is so much to love about this Remake but something I never get tired of are the camera angles. It always feels like someone or something is watching you as you make your way through the hallways and rooms, adding an extra layer of fear or unease.
One of my all time favorites! I love videos like this as a adult who doesn't have time to play as much anymore this is a nice trip down memory lane.. ty!
33:30 you say that Barry was working with umbrella the whole time. This isn't true. Around the time you fight the elder crimson head Wesker bumps into Barry and threatens his family. Barry was/is innocent up until right after they get to the mansion. Other than that tiny error, great review of the best game ever made.
i loved it, the angles and door animations make the mention feel so much huger, so much more isolation in a huge mansion. It feels like a journey getting from one place to another with the angles, movement, and door animations. The limited supply of ammo and herbs ink ribbons and kerosene puts strategy in and has best puzzles in series. my favorite entree. It was scarier to 7 to me (well 7i sscarier in the beggining but not once you get to the baker house)
I played this game at the perfect time. 2 years ago in the winter was the first time I played this game because it was free on the Xbox game pass. So I installed it. It was raining and cold and I played it non stop. It was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a game. I couldn’t stop playing it because I loved the way it played. It reminded me of Code Veronica and Silent hill 2 and 3. I loved it so much. I think I beat it 7 times. The puzzles, the item management, the endings. Honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played
the fact that your videos are now nostalgia for me goes to show how important resident evil has been to video games. I watch all your Res E vids at least once a year now... really glad I've been a part of this community since I was a child!
19:54 This is probably the most nerv wrenching part in the game... killing the shark, not entirely sure if it's dead or not, and you have to walk past it's jaws on your way out :S Even today, when I know it's 100% dead, it feels absolutely non-cool to walk past this huge beast...
While playing this back in the day, the first time a zombie opened a door, my brother's immediate response was, "oh that's bullshit." His response to the first crimson head would have UA-cam remove my comment.
I replayed this during a quarantine day and was shocked at how well it holds up. Every bit as good as the recent remakes (better in a lot of ways), and still so much fun. Your channel is so entertaining, I love hearing an educated and well thought out recap of these classics. I haven't watched all of your videos yet, and if you haven't done a recap of them I'm sure they're over-requested, but I'd love to watch a video series from you on Dead Space; even if it might not have the same nostalgia impact on you that REplays do.
I prefer this style to Re:2 remake. That game was great because it had different perspective. But this game actually added content. And it was on a GAMECUBE! The graphics were amazing!
You still cant deny the resident evil 2 remake is incredible, i do have to sin it on the fact the different character playthroughs arent that different most of the way but the zombies, controls level design everythings incredible I recently finished resident evil 3 remake and yeah that left a bit to be desired in its lenght and linear structure, resident evil 2 i could spend more than 40 min exploring a section and still miss stuff but re 3 took me 5 hours to beat and i unlocked everything backtracking constantpy
@@galaga2x808 Re2make is not incredible as a remake. It fails as a remake on most levels. It's good as a game in general, but only because the original was so rich with content that cutting out a shitload of it still left failmake with enough to be a full game

I'd say I have to agree with you on this being the best vision of re1. There hasn't yet been another re game that has hit the true feeling of dread that "remake" achieved. Been watching your vids to get a good gist of re game design. Working on a project of my own with similar themes.

She'll kill you if you stand your ground, but it's like she just wants you to leave her and her territory alone rather than being mindlessly aggressive like all the other monsters.
I dunno if that was their intention but the fact you’ve thought about it speaks volumes about the game’s immersive atmosphere
Random comma
@@CursedWheelieBin What makes me think that it was deliberate is they went out of their way to have the scene of her knocking out Chris or Jill but leaving them alone until they wake up. Just because it seems like they very deliberately had a scene of her NOT killing you when she had the chance, very much unlike every other infected creature you've encountered. Either they were trying to show she really doesn't want to kill you, or that she has some kind of thought process going on that the other mindless infectees don't have.
They actually did this in the new movie, so you’re probably right.
She's explicitly a killer but I get what youre saying. I think it's more that she isn't doing it by any choice or malice - she's just deeply, violently disturbed.
the slow reveal of Lisa Trevor is maybe my favorite moment in the whole series. It's perfectly executed dread that almost feels more like Silent Hill
THE 29TH BOX OF REALITY I found Steve’s transformation tragic. Sure he was an annoying teenager, but he never deserved to turn into probably one of the most disturbing enemy designs in the series.
Out of context her death reminds me of an “I must go my planet needs me” meme
ThatGuyKnownAsWill XD lol
@THE 29TH BOX OF REALITY That's a fitting comparison since I think 7 really recaptured REmake's eerie atmosphere. But yeah, while I do pity the Bakers(Well, Jack, Marguerite and Zoe anyway)they didn't go through as much hell as Lisa Trevor.
@THE 29TH BOX OF REALITY i hope not. lisa wasn't an agent, what game you could create with a regular girl
Capcom confirmed she died in the mansion explosion but they can always change their own lore.
Lisa does die in one of the dead aim (games. It shoes Wesker having a final showdown with her and Lisa ends up trapped under a chandelier when the mansion explodes

You know something else that's just so sad about Lisa Trevor? The fact her fireplace was going means at one point she was kneeling down, placing firewood, and trying to get that fire started. Damn I said the same thing! Crazy!!!
Still the best remake of any RE game. Why? Because it expanded and enriched the experience. Something I cannot say for 2 or especially 3 remake.
And still she can't open locked doors without a key
@@yankoelgueta1116 you’re thinking of chris. jill is the lock pick extraordinaire

@20xitysix oh without a doubt. And I wasn't denying that she was in Delta Force - I don't actually know that. I was simply stating that Delta Force are an Army unit that recruit from within the Army, not outsourcing to the Navy.

Maybe it was just me but I remember my GameCube being particularly loud when I would play this game.
@Linda Niemkiewicz I thought it was pretty good.
@@gabrielvaleriano2562 Harry Mason, but i like ur take on his name! :D

Mr. Blunt you’re correct but I think he meant if someone were to actually live in the house
Uh villains obviously lol.

Hey ask her if she wants to join ROE :)
I can't stand to play the olde RE games (tank+fixed camera) but I love her analysis and soothing voice.
I'm just gonna guess that this dude has a neckbeard
@@mattrichardson4521 full beard and handlebars, but thanks for guessing.
@@coryray8436 I guess that makes it better ? Meh
I can’t stop watching this video. I’ve watched it like 5 times now and I don’t plan to stop
Exactly. Re3 was a rushed cashgrab. Re2 R was better, but still not nearly as perfect as the first Remake.
@Linda Niemkiewicz Capcom noticed how much people liked the way they gutted RE2 in it's remake so that's why RE3 remake is the way that it is
@Kenzie Jean I think you should.
@Linda Niemkiewicz because re7 fucked the story.
Cheers up Suzi
I wanted Resi 2 in this style. Remake will always be my favourite Resi. I remember being so hyped for it on gamecube, buying all the magazines featuring it, importing the American version and spending days in a dark room playing it. I introduced it to my friend too recently, made him download it off of Steam after I helped him make his new PC and I watched him play it. Had such glee on my face as memories were brought back.
Normally I don't like playing horror games, but this one was on sale for really cheap so I bought it. I've played for about 5 hours now and I love it. This game really is something special
REmake is one of the most amazing pieces of digital art that i have ever seen.
The cadence in which you use while speaking about my favorite series is almost hypnotic. Great video
MADtv was such a great show.
Loving the "Includes Paid Promotion" ! Seeing some of my favorite Content Creators get the recognition they deserve is always amazing to see !
As always keep up the amazing work Sphere, your retrospectives and videos in general are always really well written, paced and enjoyable !
The jump in graphics between RE96 and Remake was astonishing
Forgetting to burning a zombie body and going back to the mansion later can create a startling experience
You made me get into RE series
Love from Iran!

Damn girl you gonna spoil us.
I LOVE IT!
?????
That’s almost an hour!
Just stumbled upon this video. I can't believe I actually sat down for an hour watching your video. Great great work. Thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the first time I've ever commented or liked a video like this but I felt like I had to. Appreciate the hard work!
What do you mean it holds up...it's miles better than morden day triple A shite these days...
There is so much to love about this Remake but something I never get tired of are the camera angles. It always feels like someone or something is watching you as you make your way through the hallways and rooms, adding an extra layer of fear or unease.
The HD remaster version with the AI upscaled textures on PC is just amazing.
How much space did it took on storage?
@@Joshua_N-A mod took 8 gigs to download, idk after extracting the rar. I didnt check
45:47 not really “US”, but Wesker with an infinite ammo handgun and a candlelight plus the mansion exploding sure did!
Yeah its a mix of us and english accent like in all the gamers
A perfect remake. Done right. I love the ambiance, look, and the Crimson Heads. Being chased when backtracking is tense!!!
Honestly the Lisa Trevor part of the campaign is the most tragic, bone chilling and terrifying
I played through REmake countless times on the GC and many more on the PS4 remaster. This game is about as perfect as a game can get.
Other than that tiny error, great review of the best game ever made.
if you lower the music in that scene you hear all the dialogue
Nop. Barry was working with Wesker since the beginning. That scene was a reminder because Barry was having second thoughts.
I just replayed this game. Even though it just turned 20 still outdoes many current gen games. It is a true classic.
i loved it, the angles and door animations make the mention feel so much huger, so much more isolation in a huge mansion.
Reminds me of the way I love to watch my favorite horror movie, John Carpenter's The Thing (1982): In the winter, at night, during a blizzard.
Been waiting for this one! REmake is a total masterpiece.
the fact that your videos are now nostalgia for me goes to show how important resident evil has been to video games. I watch all your Res E vids at least once a year now... really glad I've been a part of this community since I was a child!
The caves in the original look like walls covered with Post-it notes. LOL
I guess Jim Carrey was trying to find a more secluded area to answer prayers as God.
19:54 This is probably the most nerv wrenching part in the game... killing the shark, not entirely sure if it's dead or not, and you have to walk past it's jaws on your way out :S
Even today, when I know it's 100% dead, it feels absolutely non-cool to walk past this huge beast...
That was SHOCKING hehehee
Under The Mayo sent me here. RE1/reDC and remake are 3 of my top favorite games of all time. Great review / overview! You are great at your job.
hell yeah best remake of any game ever! It's the perfect combination of staying true and providing a new experience at the same time
While playing this back in the day, the first time a zombie opened a door, my brother's immediate response was, "oh that's bullshit." His response to the first crimson head would have UA-cam remove my comment.
What I always found weird about re1 was despite all the different endings you can’t actually get the cannon ending that capcom has decided on.
Isn't the Jill 'Good ending' the canon one?
That's because both endings are cannon, they doesn't make a difference in the plot of the coming games.
@Short For A Hoe Yeah but they could easily just meet Rebecca after they leave the mansion ruins
I prefer this style to Re:2 remake. That game was great because it had different perspective. But this game actually added content. And it was on a GAMECUBE! The graphics were amazing!
Imagine if re2 and re3 were remaked back in the day with re1 style
You still cant deny the resident evil 2 remake is incredible, i do have to sin it on the fact the different character playthroughs arent that different most of the way but the zombies, controls level design everythings incredible
I recently finished resident evil 3 remake and yeah that left a bit to be desired in its lenght and linear structure, resident evil 2 i could spend more than 40 min exploring a section and still miss stuff but re 3 took me 5 hours to beat and i unlocked everything backtracking constantpy
@@galaga2x808
Re2make is not incredible as a remake. It fails as a remake on most levels. It's good as a game in general, but only because the original was so rich with content that cutting out a shitload of it still left failmake with enough to be a full game
@@steelbear2063 RE2make is a good remake. It doesn't add much but it does improve on the existent base game and change what didn't work from the original (or didn't age well).
We love you Suzi!!! Another great video
Just finished this game for the first time last week. Still a horror masterpiece!
Me too!!
"Are the faint sounds of footsteps.. those of survivors..?"
Dammit, I need versions of all my Resident Evil games with you narrating the text now!
Fantastic content, as always, delivered by your dulcet tones. 💙
Thank you for this video. I beat this game on release when I was around 12 years old. You inspired me to pick up an original copy and original hardware. I'm now deep into the mansion and loving every moment of it, it's like experiencing it for the first time again.
I recently beat REmake and it's one of my top ten games ever so this video is amazing
I'd say I have to agree with you on this being the best vision of re1. There hasn't yet been another re game that has hit the true feeling of dread that "remake" achieved. Been watching your vids to get a good gist of re game design. Working on a project of my own with similar themes.
Im born and raised in switzerland(europe) and in 2002, i was 15years old, and i went working during the summer in a factory, to get me some money, with that money i bought myself an ntsc gamecube so i could play this game a couple of months earlier ^^, and it was a blast.... omg.... i remember that i was so proud and excited to be playing the best looking game at the time. The Mansion itself was for me the most intressting part of the whole game.... i spend many nights thinking and dreaming about spencer and trevor as they came up with all the puzzles and traps and i always dreamed about making a movie about the mansion, how it was builded and why and then how the virus starts to break out.
Me hearing her namedrop "Best of the Worst" : OH MY GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
yeah was that a Red Letter Media reference?
@@Zipzeolocke Yes. It was. And it - was - glorious!
