Back when From Soft games were put together on a shoe string budget. They cut so many corners.
The reason wonderful body moves like that is because he's actually an old Raven who doesn't really understand how to pilot his machine
you still die in water...
if you go below the waterline.
you probably left the auto-boost option on, which automatically activates the boosters when you're on water.
turn that off and forgot to use your boosters in a water area, you join stasis with the fishes
Yeah i probably did xb but is there an advantage to not having auto boost on?
@@ruikiri nah. just a challenge of trying to keep your NEXT above waterline by manually pushing the boost button.
If you are super careful you can go below the surface without voiding out, which looks neat
@@ruikiri speedrunner use them, hit target, mission complete, ciao. Saves few seconds waiting for event to complete
I managed to get underwater in the Ehrenberg map by overboosting from land into the water; didn't kill me thankfully, and i can just boost out of the water pretty easily
Finally. Also something to note: Your AC pick at the beginning is quite a good machine, with the Aaliyah beneath it being the "wretch" pick of the AC series. Aged design and some low grade weapons. When you start hitting hard mode and have to get S rank for tuning points? That's where you see the difficulty curve turn into a cliff face.
Ill definitely be giving hard mode a try :D
NEGATIVE! AALIYAH IS THE BEST MECH IN THE WORLD. ITS ASTHETIC AND DEGISN IS PEAK EVERYTHING. ITS ALSO LORE ACCURATE SRAYED PILOTS AALIYAH TILL HE STEALS WHITE GLINT AND TURNS IT INTO BLACK FLARE. THE AALIYAH IS THE PERFECT EVIL MECH. A MID SPEEDER WITH AMAZING CLOSE RANGE LOAD OUT. THAT DRAGONSLAYER WILL CARRY ALMOST ALL THE MISSIONS. THE AALIYAH IS THE BEST. ALL HAIL THE BEST COMPANY RAYLEONARD!! ZIEG AALIYAH ZIEG AALIYAH ZIEG AALIYAH
"with the Aaliyah beneath it being the "wretch" pick of the AC series."... meanwhile me destroying all the order match with that, u say what ?
Nah dude, the AALIYAH is the undisputed king of Nexts. Just got to know how to pilot it and deal with its weaknesses, it’s not for rookies. Main thing that needs updating are the internals, even then you only need a generator swap as it’s thirsty on energy. Plus, the 04 marve and moonlight with a backup blade is killer
I'd argue that Aaliyah is the wretch pick for noobs, and the easy pick for AC4 vets.
Aaliyah is awful for new players, the energy is just so bad if you don't know how to manage your energy. The weapons are lackluster but that's easy to fix. For new player though? They are going to want to get a new generator asap. They probably won't have the funds for guns if they go into the negatives in the first few missions, which is possible for complete new players.
The 03-AALIYAH model you get from going Independent is a solid machine once mastered; the issue is mastering it to start with and that you cripple yourself in the early game because of no parts in the shop. In short, going Independent is something only experienced players looking for a challenge run do; if you're new to the game, it's more trouble than it's worth. The LANCEL you took, much like the SUNSHINE-L from going with GA, are fairly easy to handle, and fairly forgiving of early game piloting errors.
I went GA on my very first playthrough lol
03-AALIYAH was my first and only choice. Ever since it gave me a choice, always went for the high speed model.
I went with Aaliyah cause its a smexy design
I didn't know that and did my first playthrough with it. I've only gotten into AC a few days ago. Was quite an enjoyable experience. However, now that I've done 2nd playthrough, I only RP with White Glint. On 1.40 btw.
Oooo that explains why my shop was so painful lol. I started with the Aaliyah because I loved it from AC4.
Ill miss this game when 6 comes out... 100% agree on the menu being lame
love your videos
Oh my God it's the armored core dad
Hopefully AC6 is going to have a banger menu with a banger track too :D
My first armoured core, going from this to 3 without the side boosting is going to be hard.
Menu was the best tf
Fighting the Giga Base for the first time always feels like a boss fight where you have to use the heaviest weapons at your disposal to kill it.
Then later you unlock the Kiku pile bunker, and suddenly you have a weapon that can literally one-shot the Giga Base in a way not even Kojima missiles can do. You literally punch the Giga Base and it just explodes. It even works on certain other Arms Forts as well, such as the duo of Arms Forts you can encounter in one of the missions.
also, each generation of armored core isn't just the basic numbered game, for example, generation 3 armored core has 6 games to it. almost exclusively they continue the story of the previous game or at least relate to them.
NEXTs ARE ACs xD
NEXTs are next gen armored core featuring advanced next gen technology. Including a piloting system where the pilot links to the machine to control it with grace and precision. These pilots are called LYNX, cuz it's a play on linking the pilot to the AC and that it's also an animal.
NORMALS are armored core of the past. They're basic. Slow. Obsolete. Relics! 'Ravens' are a relic of a long forgotten age.
MTs are MTs. They've always have been.
It's funny to me that you hate the menus in this game because, to me, they're so CLEAN. I absolutely love them.
I dont know xb they are extremely minimalistic xb no background, no nothing...
@@ruikiri Yea its definitely a preference thing. When I have 5 billion rows of numbers to look at in the menus, the rest is just noise I'd rather not have.
And the black background "dark mode" vibe makes it easier on my eyes when I'm sitting in the garage for hours at a time tweaking my mech.
ACFA is like AC on crack... and that crack ain't whack
AALIYAH(Independent): The fastest starter AC, is the more challenge starter AC but is also the most popular of the Starter AC for its design alone
LANCEL(OMER): The all rounder NEXT, is considered best NEXT because not only the thing itself is good its the best NEXT to upgrade as a base compared to the other 3 due to its versatility
Tellus(IU): The least popular NEXT of the Quartet, its a good Energy based NEXT but may not be great for some people
SUNSHINE(GA): The Fat Boi Missile spammer, contrary to popular believe Heavy Builds are pretty damn fast in ACFA when used with proper builds
I think this is the only armored core where if you go fast enough you can destroy a building.
"The earth has been absolutely F*CKED and a bunch of companies just rule the world."
This is just IRL lore
I have played all Armored Core games sense from PS1 they all so cool
This game looked gorgeous to me 15 years ago lol. Can't wait for AC6!
Right lol. plus they didnt have the budget from the success of he Soulbourne, ER and Sekiro games.
How did you like AC6?
I really see where Daemon x machina got its inspiration from now.
I have heard about that game recently, it looks like Anime Core and im definiyely interested in playing it... i might do it when things slow down after AC6
@@ruikiri Its the only substitute for Armored Core on pc, its as close as it gets but still no where as good in my opinion, It feels very simplified. You should still play it though!!! I enjoy your playthroughs and your comentary, If you make a video on it I would definitely watch it.👍
Begun playing ACFA yesterday for the first time, and I picked the Omer mech because I thought it looked the coolest.
Immediately I discovered that I could use dual blades and I've been running it in every mission (except the first commission mission... I ended up dying because of the explosions of the boats I destroyed) but it's been so damn fun
Dual blades are sick xb
the AC community should be demanding a fast gameplay style as ac4a in ac6 verdict day was slow and frustrating.
Verdict Day isnt that bad, i played it and enjoyed it... has more of a ps2 armored core feel and i dont think its a bad thing, its just diffrent
i placed a shit load of enemy emblems on my head like a kill count.
sick xb
The larger mech enemies and Boss Forts are pretty cool. It does look significantly easier than the previous games.
But it's really not easy 😂
VOB stands for Vanguard Over Boost
Basically, big dumb booster go BRRRRRRR
Was waiting for this one
i will do the whole 3 campaigns and maybe some hard mode as well :D
Patch was in Master of Arena as well.
I remember back in the day, running those blade duels.. nothing else has been able to capture that level of speed and frantic combat since.
I miss those days, if only my 360 didn't get red ringed.. hopefully it has an easy fix because damn I wanna play this and Verdict Day like hell after the AC6 hype.
Try wrapping it in a towel XD
Love how the camera cant keep up with the AC lmao
13:00 the point of progression in this game is not only parts, but tuning points too - which are VERY useful.
In order to achieve full power you would need to S-rank every single mission in the game, meaning you need to play through the game multiple times because of multiple endings.
yeah i see that now, its new in this game, but it does make s ranking things kinda fun
@@ruikiri Brace for the oldking ending, literally the toughest mission in armored core series
If you like the gameplay, you'll love it
@@rudolphvonstroheim3551 i beat that just a few hours ago... on normal mode... but damn... i feel like the game is overall not very hard, but that mission is hard enough for the entire game xb
@@ruikiri Oh boy, the change in that mission for Hard mode is memorable, that's for sure. (Actually I really love how many of the hard mode missions change the situation to make it harder instead of just tweaking numbers.)
What settings did you use to stop the skybox from bugging out
@@petervanheerden2133 i am using a specific version of rpcs3 that is found in the AC discord and its already set up to play this in the best way possible.. so i never changed anything in the settings xb
@@ruikiri oh thanks. I know my PC isn't great (MacBook, you may roast me), so I suspected it was down to my lack of ram since I did adjust my settings. Could you perhaps link the file.
Great video, I have suscribed to yout channel!
Thank you :D
@@ruikiri You are welcome!
For Answer is pretty dope, it's my fourth favorite game in the series. I will say though, I have to agree about the visuals. Environments leave a lot to be desired compared to the facilities and even outdoor areas in AC3, Silent Line, and Last Raven. NEXTs look good and are cool, but in my opinion I prefer the chunkier, more industrial look of ACs in gen 3. There is a lore reason why the maps are so barren, but it doesn't change the fact that the maps are not as interesting as the PS2 games' maps. I do find the flying-heavy gameplay of gen 4 fun, but there's something about the old grounded but still fast paced gameplay with a lockbox that I just love the most. Maybe it's just because I'm not as good at building NEXTs in For Answer as I am ACs in gen 3.
I should mention that Last Raven also just lets you retry over and over if you fail, just like For Answer. Good thing too, since Last Raven will break your bones.
blame kojima for that lol. AC4 has more interesting environment, some trees, architecture stuff, but acfa just bleak
There is actually a Patch in Master Of Arena. He even has an Eagle emblem like Patches usually does.
do you get any sound playing the game? or is it normal for the game to have no sound
Its definitely not normal, but i am using an older build of rpcs3 here that can be found in the Armored Core discord :)
thank you @@ruikiri
9:27 That's because before the success of Sekero and Elden Ring FromSoft was an Indie dev studio. Dark souls and armored core wore low budget games that's why they are graphically unimpressive compared to other games that came out in their time. You can argue Dark Souls look good in terms of esthetics but in terms of polygons and textures those games are rough! The fanbase overlooked it because it was a game serries that wasn't piggy backing off trends and it had it's own unique taste to it. Most people wore playing other games while Fromsoft fans found themselves interested in something that wasn't competing in a saturated market. Another FromSoft game that needs to come back is the Tenchu Series, it was a ninja game that was like metal gear solid that was stealth based with swords, kunai's and everything you'd expect a samurai and a Ninja to use with a mix of light magic. Nothing like magic in the souls series the focus was mostly swords and combat.
I definitely wont argue with that, souls was always behind other games graphics wise, its their style that is captivating, even dark souls 3 which was pretty popular is rough in the visual department, but again the style of the world was amazing.. From always focused on gameplay over visuals and that is what got them where they are today, and even though i do complain about ACFA' visuals, the game is fun to play. Its great to see how far they have come :)
@@ruikiri I was obsessed with the armored Core Series as a kid, especially AMC3 & AC4A I hope to see you on the battle field on AC6
Sekiro was supposed to be tenchu
@@Sinner987 Fomrsoft baited us into thinking it was gonna be Tenchu 🤣 it was low key marketed as a Tenchu game and was revealed as something else, oof. NGL I was a little sad that we didn't get another Tenchu game.
1:42 How did I even recognize her?!
Got to love that seventh gen color palette of brown and gray.
Emulator doesn't give you the real feel of motherwill. My ps3 would drop to 1 frame every 3 seconds.
Step 1. survive
Step 2. Rng if Ps3 survives
Sounds like fun xb
The color comments LOL. Maybe you don't remember that period of gaming but that was.. that was ALL GAMES. Well not like all of them, but like A LOT OF GAMES. We call it the Coffee Filter Era of gaming. For Answer at least injects some color back in from 4 but.. God Damn. It's shocking to look back at that art style from the 2000's. Oh, that and BLOOM! SO MUCH BLOOM! 4 is also a lot worse about it. But games loved Bloom during this period. I'm glad that fad passed.
oh yeah... i do remember that era xb it was unfortunate for someone like me that likes vibrant stuff xb
The reticle shows as Red when you have a clear shot on the enemy, green when the enemy is obstructed, and white when the enemy is within your lock but outside of your weapon's range
this truly is the best Beginner's AC I feel, it's one of the most friendly for newcomers to the franchise
I'm glad you're having fun delving into Armored Core lol
Idk if anyone has told you yet but you can get arena opponent's emblems by pushing start and select on their names in the list in armored core 3
No they did not, thank you :D
@@ruikiri np :)
You should check out ac 5 weapon switching. They look really cool and some of them even transform.
Yeah i would like to play it but i dont have a console and the emulator currently doesnt run it :(
@Ruikiri I heard that Xenia runs it better than RPCS3. Maybe try iy on that
the game is supposed to be desaturated, it's part of the setting, same w the menus, it's very depressing, hopeless. i think they did a good job!
Tuning has been a thing since at least ac nexus I believe? Definitely an array of stat points you can allocate to increase overall performance. Helps to make some builds possible with certain parts it previously wouldn't have been.
Good showcase! Been so long since I played it I often overlook it's faults. I never did quite like the graphical atmosphere either.
Its a shame about the graphics because some people will definitely be put off by them but the overall gameplay feels great
@@StrikeNoir105E I'm fairly certain I recalled tuning being in nexus, as I played ninebreaker after that and it also featured tuning.
Edit: just checked, it's most definitely possible in nexus, there is a forum detailing how to do it.
@@lumiverinightstar228 Checking out my copy again, and there is indeed Tuning in the game. I just missed it because I never looked at the button prompts, nor was there even a hint that such a feature was actually a thing in the game. Using PC as well, so my control emulation is all over the place, and tuning was on a button I rarely use.
Using one of the pile bunkers will kill every arms Fort in like 3 hits
Yes i have actually one shot the AF Answerer with it xb
You could already get enemy AC emblems in AC2/3, don't remember if it goes back further.
Requires pressing start + select in certain places or something.
Yeah i got a comment about that earlier xb but its a pretty hidden feature xb
How’s you get the game?
The discord has links for the game i believe but you can just type "armored core for answer iso" on google and find something
Bro if you think the color and bloom of this game was bad and overdone, you should try playing NFS Most Wanted 2005 lol
i have played a lot of NFSMW 2005 xb and yes the colors and bloom on that game were kinda trash, but the map design and the detail and everything else was still there while 4A is just empty space :D
I like your style of videos dude! :D
Just playing the game and saying whatever comes to mind. Good shit :D
Thank you :D
ACVD had the need for speed like workshop for Emblems and Schematics since they did that Call of Duty layered emblems thing (but more complex).
Happy to know there was a reason my ac4 game crashed. cutscenes don't really need em anyway. Just gonna go watch some lore videos.
A long barrel grenade launcher on a shoulder makes this game and all the others as easy as laying down.
Arms fort? Grenade.
White Glint? Push the barrel into her nostril and fire the grenade.
I'm glad AC is finally getting a budget due to the Fromsofts success.
Beat this gem using RPCS3 last week at 4k/60fps, really surprised to see how well the graphics aged. Btw, there is a certain older emulator version of RPCS3 that plays this game best and basically fixes all of the rainbow texture issues. I don’t have the emulator version off hand but if you request it, I’ll let you know.
What is the emulator version of you know it? I’ve been trying to not crash all the time myself
Tutorials never played one of those lol
They arent very in depth considering what you are getting yourself into xb
Finally an unbiased review of ACFA even albeit, unintentional. Thank you for notating how bland the UI is 😂. I love everything about ACFA except the maps and UI. I understand its a desolete post-apocalyptic world but DAMN. Can we get some cool ass designs regardless? I may be asking for too much but hopeful for AC6!
looking back i think the empty ass maps were probably due to the speed of the game, considering you hit over 2000 km/h in this game, you really couldnt have a lot to load or it would be troublesome... even gta still has some problems loading the city when you go too fast on a car... overall, i think the ps3 just wasnt ready for this game but they made it anyway xb
@@ruikiri hell yeah, FromSoftware is a beast when it came to the Armored Core series. Looking at it from the point you made, the game did run at 60 fps and ACV did not. Difference being that it had more sophisticated graphics and maps while running on the same system!
AC 4 and for answer is actually one of the early game on ps3 and xbox 360 😆
Yeah and it definitely shows xb
V.O.B stands for Vanguard Overboost.
Thank You :D
AC3 and Silent Line are the best in the series...the PS3 generation AC games were pretty bad IMO
i sort of agree although obviously i like the fluidity of the gameplay, but between gameplay and visuals i think first to third gen are the best "complete package" armored cores.. the ps3 ones always feel like theres something off with them
@ruikiri well the 1st 2 gens are the PS1 and PS2 games they were better than the 3rd...mainly because it changed so drastically....I'd like to see reviews on the ps2 gen games you made gameplay videos which is cool too get to see what other players builds look like but an actual review would be good 👍
@@kg21bestpf94 3rd gen is still ps2.. and overall they are kind of samey but at the same time you get that feeling like "this is how armored core is meant to be" and then 4th and 5th were huge changes to the formula but they are unique in their own way, and now sixth is the same... i dont really like doing reviews because they require a lot of scripting and planning but i might consider it specially if AC starts getting more attention
@ruikiri oh I was referring to the actual games generations not the consoles...so basically all the ps1 ac games are gen 1 armored core games and so on but yeah there isn't many reviews on ac games so it would good to see an in depth review on all the games
The best part was the PvP when it came out, team pvp with my friends was fun and you could trade AC builds also make custom emblems.
Are the pvp maps the same as the arena maps?
@@ruikiri yeah but I can't rememver if there was more, It's bin a while. there where 8 player lobies team and free for all. Blades where popular especially if tuned to take avantage of network, and produce shadow boosting to be godly.
Dont worry, the game gets MUCH harder towards the end game... ;)
Good to know :D but you mean end game like ng+ for new endings or just end game like later chapters?... because i already finished it xb
@@ruikiri i moreso meant the other endings after finishing the game once, and hard mode which unlike past AC games is actually completely unique
I'd say while just finishing the game normally is amongst the easiest AC games, its peak difficulty with hard mode and even some of the later normal missions is amongst the hardest in the whole franchise.
Hell, I'd say the final mission in the third ending path is possibly the hardest mission in the series period.
@@Sabbathfaax alright, sounds like a challenge :D
4 and 4A are a lot of fun, but man, they really aren't armored core games
They feel like the odd ones out due to their fast paced gameplay.. but considering we use nexts instead of AC i think its neat , its like a sneak peak into what could be possible.. but then they decided to dial it back down again xb
Great video
Thank you :D
Someone explained to this dude that this is not armored core 4
armored core 4 comes before this
Did i ever say this was armored core 4? Xb
@@ruikiri yes you said its an expansion of 4 which its not its a sequal
@@JF.BLAZZZED i understand they are diffrent games "technically" but i mean 2 and another age, 3 and silent line, 4 and for answer, they are games built on one another , even the menus are the same in some cases.. these non numbered titles are at most glorified expansion packs
@@ruikiri true there, my fav is always gonna be for answers i just wish simple mode had strafing without having to turn off aim assist cause the actual lock on features barley work to begin with.
And with Regular-A / Regular-B i just hate having to hit the boost 5 times just to get my next off the ground
Also. The environments aren't supposed to look pretty. Its a desolate post apocalyptic world. The color palette and map designs lack of detail never bothered me.
It's thematically pleasing
You predicted the emblem making and sharing lol
Armored Core For Answer is one of my favorite games of all time, but it needs to be said that this game is pretty janky.
Ahaha try the older ones 😂
the environments remind me of Sonic 06
You could have bladed that first arms fort in like three seconds.
You mean the giga base ? Btw, what is a forts health based of? Do you have to destroy the weapons on it to do damage or can you just attack the body?
@@ruikiri If I remember correctly, Mother will is the only boss that needs to destroy its parts. The rest you can just brute force it.
@@ruikiri dual blades with triple rocket launchers as back weapons is the best Arms Fort loadout, even in Hard Mode.
@@Echo_419 good to know :D
Those are some really ugly explosion JPEGs.
Happy AC6 has 14 years of environment design behind it since Demon's Souls.
Personally this is my top pick for the best Armored Core game and is my standard for Armored Core.
Multiplayer vid when
I gotta get that thing set up, ill hit u up about it eventually xb
wow i remember the long range damge unlike ac6 once out of range it does no damage
You missed a treat not going with the aaliyah
wait how were you able to play it? don't you need a ps3 for that?
ps3/xbox360 emu is a thing now
Im using RPCS3.. The ps3 emulator :)
@@ruikiri thanks man!
Plays a game from 2008, Complains nonstop about the graphics. lol
Your point being? Xb spyro and crash on the ps1 had good graphics for the hardware , the ps2 has loads of titles with insane graphics, re4, god of war 2, prince of persia, black.. while this is a ps3 game, but definitely doesnt look like one xb or actually the mechs look ps3 but everything else around them doesnt, which is why it looks weird xb
Thank god someone who can actually see the 4th gen titles look like ass lol
I wish I could play immoral unchained
I wanna correct you, miyazaki got his start with from in Last raven if i recall correctly.
He was involved with LR but was not the director
He was a planner of .. something.. for last raven, he did not direct it :)
@@ruikiri last raven gameplay in the future?
@@meeirudayo7270 i would lioe doing a series on it, but not soon. . And by not soon i mean probably after ac6 comes out :)
for answer being the best one of course
That's debatable.
It's the fan favorite, but I couldn't call it the best. It has the best instant gratification of the series but, for me, lacks in most areas compared to other ACs.
The pale rider plays really well in Gundam Versus, being one of my mains along side the Jesta and Delta. I wish they would have been in EXVS Maxiboost On.
I would love to see all these one year war era side story suits get illustrated in classic late 70s to early-mid 80s "type anime" art style
playing on emulator and they expect it to be perfect? lol why dont you fix the emulator first
It is pretty much perfect, it runs smoothly and looks better than it did on console because of the upscaling :) (there is minor stuff like the emblems and whatnot but they dont really affect game experience)
