Out of all of them, this is one of the best emotional anime's out there. It's the only one that's made me tear up every time I think about the last episode. And agreed with everyone else, I love Lucy/Nyu. :)

Basically it's the 4th saddest anime i know.Clannad After Story is the saddest,then Grave of the Fireflies(movie),True Tears and then Elfen Lied!!!But it is sure as hell sad and amazing all around even if it's not the saddest :)
I haven't seen many animes in my time (really only 6, dragon ball, dragon ball z, rosario + vampire, school rumble, and this ugly yet beautiful world, and elfen lied) and this is by far the goriest, saddest, most beautiful one I know that tell a very sad story. My favorite :)
God dammit tears... I still can't hold the tears after watching this anime and I feel bad for Lucy. I don't think she is evil as what my other friends believe. Even I can relate to her pain. This anime has so much emotions and intense gore and violence and I still love the anime. If only I could find the manga.
The manga has never released in America for 14 years since this show had premiered in Japan. Likely Dark Horse has officially announced that they will released the manga in May 22, 2019. They are creating 4 separate ominbus books that has 3 volumes per book. Wow, almost 15 years it have took forever to have an english translated version of Elfen Lied in its manga series. Edit: I'm hoping that their are printed in hard covers, rather than paper covers.
Sad scenes? Dude I did not care about Lucy a single bit but the moment Kurama and Mariko died was fucking heartbreaking. I did not cry when I watched "the grave of the fireflies" but their death just fucking destroyed me
So I don't know how I watched this elfen lied maybe because I was searching funny moments and then I saw this and I think maybe I should watch the ep of this I must try so when I watched all I miss lucy

The scenery artwork is so spot on, if you ever visit, you'll know you've been here before. Kamakura is a wonderful place.
