Listening to all 74 songs again for the millionth time again with you guys
4 genius at work=GOAT. ----Led Zep
When this album is done, you can absolutely say that most genres of popular music were covered. And because all of it was done by the best band to walk the earth, in their style it creates a new genre all together. It’s Zeppelin. Often imitated never will they be duplicated.
"Bron-Yr-Aur" was the name of the cottage the in Wales where Page & Plant would go and write songs in the early 70s. The band used to go to the countryside to write and record. It also translates from Welsh to The Golden breast or Golden hillside meaning the hills of the Welsh countryside.
Can't wait for Ten Years Gone!!!
"Down By The Seaside" one of my favorite cuts, a lot of people don't like it, mostly those without ears.
I think it is such a well crafted song. I used to play it on the regular with my kids on Saturday morning during coffee and breakfast. 😊
Crazy I’m 51 and always knew led but got my first zep tape at 13 this tape and for the longest time down by the sea side was my favorite song.now I don’t have a favorite because every song is my favorite
One of mine too. It also has one of my favorite breaks. "Do you still do the twist...."
Bron-Yr-Aur was a cottage in Wales where they would go to write
They're masters at creating a mood, whether it's this one (you're at the seaside), No Quarter, Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks...and on and on.
Their music is so diverse you never know what's coming! Brilliant! You will love Ten Years Gone!
And the wanton song with the Leslie effect 🩷🩷🩷🔥🔥🔥
And Sick Again live at Knebworth 🌪

They created their own Unidiverse.
THE BAND!! THEY CAN CHANGE THE COLORS like a chameleon during any given song Any Given album.. Rock.. Country.. Blues.. Hard.. soft.. You name it. Thanks for going through Zeppelin's catalog.. I'm really enjoying it
If I have to work late, Down By the Seaside is usually going to be in the rotation at some point. There's such a relaxed vibe to it, almost transporting you to the country cottage where they wrote it. There's also something about this song that inexplicably invokes nostalgia, even though I've never been to the English countryside nor was I alive when it was written. I've never been able to articulate quite why, but there's something slightly haunting (in a good way) about Jimmy's guitar and the plinky organ, and Robert's airy vocals draped over them.
The next one, “Ten Years Gone”, is a stunning piece about a lost love- a TRUE deep track Zepic!
Absolutely!
Totally agree, I have been waiting patiently!!!
I just added "Zepic" to my vocabulary thanx mate
I love this album! Best Zep album in my opinion. 40 plus years of listening and I still love it
It's mine too!
Followed by my all time favorite live song
from the album "the song remains the same" called
"No Quarter!"
Another live Masterpiece from the Mighty Zeppelin!
IMO.
@@raymondrochajr9621 funny you say that my 2nd fav album Is House's of t he holy with No Quarter and the Rain Song being my favorites. The live version of no quarter from MSG is epic, you are so right!
@@edwardcapobianco2975
Thanks man! I also love " the Rain Song"
but I like to hear "the song remains the same" with it.
They seem to go hand in hand.
Led Zeppelin always amazed me with songs like this because it was like they were telling all of us.... we can play any style....and YOU. WILL. LIKE. IT!
By this time complete masters of music itself no matter what the style. That is the genius of Zep that’s why the are considered the best band of all time.
More Led for my head!
Bron-Yr-Aur is the name of a cottage in Wales where Robert and Jimmy wrote songs for Zeppelin III. Bron-Yr-Aur was recorded during those sessions in 1970. Down By The Seaside was recorded during the Fourth album sessions. The next track, Ten Years Gone is my favorite Zeppelin song.
Although it’s still magical and I listened to this for 59 years I sure wish I could experience these seminal tracks for my first time again!
Great that you did these 2 together. 2 beautiful tracks
So glad you guys took the suggestion and did these two together! Bron-Yr-Aur (meaning: "Golden Breast"/"Golden Hill" - describing the mountains in Wales where the cottage they recorded in is located) captures the delicate spirit of the cottage where it was written, and the mindset of the band at that time. Down By The Seaside is a beautifully reflective piece that shows several different sides of the band, and their sensitivity to the environment. After the pounding of the opening two sides, these tracks settle you in for more contemplative songs. The next track, Ten Years Gone, is a masterpiece, and one of their greatest ballads, about lost love, and choices.
There really isn't another band that had such a diverse and incredible catalog as Zep. Nearly every song they have, in my opinion, is perfect.....you just don't listen to any of their songs and think something is missing or wrong, with the exception of being too short too often.
I also think you two are so cool and chill, I really look forward to seeing the notification pop up w you guys. Keep it up!!
I look forward every day to your reactions gentlemen.
Watching you enjoy the music of my youth is awesome!
I remember when I got into Zeppelin, may dad was not a fan. I played Down By The Seaside and he couldn't believe it was them. Such a unique song.
Page's solo on Down By The Seaside is easily in my Top Five Page solos...maybe Top Three. Simply awesome.
Led Zeppelin is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. I'm so glad you guys get it. Enjoy the journey.
Actually, met Robert Plant today. I didn’t know who he was until after he left. Came in our bookstore and my coworker and I chatted about a few books he chose. We looked at name on receipt and pulled up pics after he left. Yep, it was that Robert Plant. Had played at civic center night before w Alison Krauss
My knees would have gone weak.
Great comments again! One of Page’s studio techniques is to run his guitar through a Leslie organ rotating speaker. It gives the guitar an organ sounding flavor. You hear it on the solo to Good Times Bad Times. What made Page a different animal was all that studio experience he had in the 60s. I sometimes think if Page was born in the 70s he’d be a Big Tech CEO today. So innovative
A true genius as was JPJ!!
Always did love Down By The Seaside with it's country vibe.
Zep were the masters of switching it up, going from light to dark, heavy to light. In fact, it's in their name...
After the breakup of The Yardbirds, Jimmy was given a recording contract with Atlantic to put together a New Yardbirds.
He originally wanted to form a supergroup with Jeff Beck and himself on guitars, and the rhythm section from The Who.
The Who's drummer, Keith Moon, joked that it would go down like a lead balloon. Led = Heavy / Zeppelin = Light.
(Band manager Peter Grant suggested the spelling to avoid mispronunciation).
Plant, matching his vocals, while doing the harmonies back up...great song...also this is a precursor to Plant's very successful solo career in 80s to early 90's...
Loved it guys! Keep on keeping on!
It's the unexpected surprise that is Led Zeppelin that makes you intrigued enough to keep listening only to find out there's nothing you don't appreciate.
Zeppelin did some amazing things with their music.
It puts a smile on my face to see you hearing for the first time these tracks that I’ve loved for decades 😊
Great reaction guys. Bron-Yr-Aur is such a lovely piece of acoustic picking and these two together just put you in a pretty sublime relaxed state. This LP all killer no filler
Zep was always full of surprises. The evolution of their sound, album to album, is really remarkable. Loved your take on these to great songs.
The next song, 10 Years Gone was a song we played in my band in the early 80's. One of my top LZ songs.
Bron-yr-Aur was recorded in 1970 and named after the cottage they write songs at.
Wikipedia: "Down by the Seaside" was originally written as an acoustic track at Bron-Yr-Aur in 1970, and was influenced by Neil Young. It was reworked as an electric track during sessions for the fourth album the following year. Page and Bonham led the arranging, changing tempo from the slow to fast section and then back again.
Love your shock reaction at how you probably never expected this from LZ...but I will tell you one thing about the band and that is that they can rock with the best of them and kill you with their blues but you can never pigeonhole the band because they play funk, middle eastern influenced songs, traditional English folk music along with every other genre, btw Bron Yr Aur is the cabin in the countryside where they went away to be isolated and record and write songs, and I love Pagey's playing on the song Bron Yr Aur
Stone built cottage
Bron-y-aur is a beautiful, little pastorale like song. If nothing else, Jimmy has a helluva range on the guitar. Hope Spain is treating you well Bobby. Cheers.
@@PeterTea life is beautiful Peter, stay well matey
Great reaction .. Looking forward to "Ten Years Gone"
I keep repeating myself, but this album is just brilliant, all four sides.
The next song is a Top 3 Zeppelin song for me. It’s perfect
I agree 100%😎👍
Something about Zeppelin is that when you bought the album you never knew what you were going to get. And it was always amazing. Right up until In Through The Out Door.
Haa, not just me...doesn't In-outdoor suck!!?? I wish it were not the case but I was SOOOO disappointed when it hit..:P
Indeed. 'In Through the Out Door' was a huge let down for me. In hindsight, the drugs and the "Rock Superstar" legendary had taken it's toll on their creativity.
@@kaybee4143 Mmm, for sure. I heard Jimmy & Bonz were so smacked out, they could barely make it. So it became a JPJ record, and I dig me some JPJ, but it just didn't pan out...their weakest effort BY far. I can "kinda" get into "In the Evening" I'm gonna Crawl" and "Casa"...otherwise, I'm out.
In Through the Out Door is a killer album. Love it thoroughly. They scheduled to play Carouselambra on their 1980 US tour and were planning on working more songs in from ITTOD.
I saw Robert Plant play with Alison Krauss two weeks ago in Taos.
Bron-Yr-Aur is my morning alarm. I wake up to it every day !
Both songs are magical! Loved the reaction to them!
It made me go to my fridge and grab some beers and start jamming out to your videos!
And I'm about to look at your other reaction to "IN THE LIGHT!"
from you!
Thanks for making my night more enjoyable fellas!🤟🤟🤟
Thanks for rocking with us

Anytime friends!
I'm a fan now!
Bon-i-fide Masterpiece Album from Led Zeppelin!!! I told you guys that this was a Masterpiece album along the "Houses of the Holy" album. So Happy to see you guys reaction and delight to the album.
Hello, the transition in this track from the rock out part back into the electric piano and tremolo guitar is seamless . all my best to you and yours from Liverpool
I’m praying you guys don’t get strikes because you are hitting some hard, essential music. Love your reactions too 👍
The guitar vibrato in Down by the Seaside was attained by running his guitar through a Leslie speaker, which was used for organs. It has a whirling fan inside it and has a speed setting to get it going as fast or as slow as you want it to.
Down by the Seaside was an outtake song from Led Zeppelin IV (the untitled album) and the Bron-Y-Aur song was an outtake song from Led Zeppelin III.
Both songs were written at Bron-Yr-Aur, which was a cottage that Robert Plant's family used to go when he was a child. The Bron-Yr-Aur cottage is just over the border in the country of Wales.
After extensive touring, Robert and Jimmy, decided to relax and they retreated to Bron-Yr-Aur cottage, at the suggestion of Robert, to write songs which gave them a mellower perspective and thus the large amount of acoustic based songs for Led Zeppelin III.
Bron-Yr-Aur is Welsh Gaelic for "golden breast" or "breast of gold." The name comes from the fact behind the cottage there are two round hills which are set apart from one another and look like two human breasts.
In the morning, the sun would come up between the two hills and there would be a golden glow through the two breast-shaped hills. So, now you know. 😀
They never played Down by the Seaside live, but Jimmy Page did play Bron-Yr-Aur a handful of times on Led Zeppelin's 1970 US tour.
thats not the organ making that sound in by the seaside? sounds like the organ to me
@@verginithe It's both JPJ on the key's but the prominent vibrato is guitar through a leslie cab. He used that a bunch, notably on the solo to Good times Bad times.
@@verginithe The vibrato sound is Jimmy's guitar run through a Leslie speaker cabinet.
That sounds more like tremolo than a Leslie cabinet on the guitar to me.
@davitofarito It's quite possible that it could be a tremolo effect run through a Leslie speaker. That would explain the very unique. I listened to it twice (after listening to it hundreds of time since way back when) and it doesn't really sound exactly like one or the other. Jimmy did a lot of odd stuff w his sounds that were not common.
I'm more prone to believe that it's a tremolo effect pedal run through a Leslie speaker cabinet.
That switch up in Down by the Seaside, where they put in some faster rock sound, always reminds me of what the Beatles would do...just add a section with a whole other sound, then go back to the original sound again. Love it.
Greatest band of all time. 😁 or one of the greatest. Enjoy.
Perfect! I Always listen to these two back to back. You guys are getting this whole 70’s rock thing down.
Bron-Y-ur was the Cottage where they wrote a lot of stuff for Zeppelin III in Whales. Down by the Seaside has a real Beatles feel, Pretty sure it was a reject from Houses.
I love Jimmy's underwater sound with his guitar, very reminiscent of Ringo's Octopus Garden! Looking forward to TEN YEARS GONE...
You are spot on with the comment about getting high with the psychedelic sound!
Amazing song that show the talent of all 4 members.
Zep were the first band that enticed me away from pop radio when I was 14 in the summer of '87. Yes, they had long since broken up (-R.I.P. Bonzo-) by then - and I already knew "Stairway..." as the last song played at middle school dances, even as late as the mid '80s. But I really discovered them that long hot central PA summer, between junior and senior high, raging with hormones and fed up with hair metal and rather watered-down dance and R&B. This cool deep-cut classic rock station had a whole hour (or a good chunk of it) devoted to Zep each evening, and I couldn't get enough of it. I understood them fairly quickly to be a band that couldn't really be categorized, and I loved the amazing journey that they took me on, song by song and album by album - and I still do. 🤘
I like the way the music circles around
These songs were revived from LZ III & IV years for this release. since PG was a double album probably almost 1 album is older material. Still my favorite LZ album since I started listening to them in late 70's.
You are correct
Bron-y-aur is a cottage in Wales when Jimmy and Robert wrote some of Led Zeppelin III, the first track was recorded in those sessions in 1970
Seaside was recorded during the sessions for Led Zeppelins fourth album in 1971
love this song, album , and band
Bron-yr-aur is a little cottage that zeppelin recorded a lot of songs on this album and down by the seaside Jimmy Page and Robert plant went and visited the Caribbean they were having tiki drinks people watching and boat sailing! That's were Jimmy tuned his guitar for Hawaiian sound! I play the song at my Tiki bar all the time! My customers always tell me to play it!
Bron Yr Aur (pronounced like "bron-er-ire") is Welsh for "golden breast" or "golden hills" which refers both to the cottage that Robert and Jimmy went to relax and write songs for the 3rd album and valley with hills where the cottage is situated. Both of these songs are from that time. Bron Yr Aur uses the same open tuning as the song Friends and I love hearing the string rattles and fret squeaks; it makes you feel like you're in the room with him. Down By the Seaside was thought to get placed on the 4th album, however it was decided it didn't fit. It owes a nod and a wink to Neil Young's song Down By the River. Jimmy makes good use of the tremolo on this and it might have been put through a Leslie speaker to help give it that watery sound. When looking for material for this album, Robert said the others laughed when he suggested they dust this one off; supposedly, Jonesy wasn't a fan of it, but it does fit this languid turn on the album, especially when paired after the idyllic Bron Yr Aur.

Walked down the aisle 32 years ago in September to Bron-Y-Aur.
1st time I ever called my future wife in 89, Ten Years Gone was playing in the background...we are still madly in love ❤
We played it as we entered out Wedding Reception for the first time as Mr and Mrs... It was never going to be anything else. And we are also going strong 20+ years on. It's good to have "the big love" as we call it.
@@H0tchips oh yeah, my friend. Ck out Big Love by Little Village , a type if supergroup in the 90s with 1 lp. No bad songs and Big Love is my fave.
You'll dig it. John Hiatt, Ry Cooder Jim Keltner and Nick Lowe
PS...we walked into like you, not down the aisle! I forgot, yet she just reminded me
madly? 'bout time to get some counseling for that.
This was the 1st LedZeppelin album I bought with money I begged for from my pop, and I remember Bron-Yr-Aur blowing my mind even after the 1st side, I was learning (at14) to play guitar and never thought I’d be able to play it, and it was with great pride that a couple of years ago I finally could.
only took 35 years
A beautiful place indeed.
Great reaction gents!! This was a real treat on my Wednesday!
Personally, I could listen to Bron-Yr-Aur for another 5-10 minutes and NOT get tired of it - it's honestly one of my favourite tracks on the album, but it's too short! That acoustic vibe Jimmy has going is mesmerizing!! Then how it segues into Down By The Seaside - wow...this album was the ultimate showcase of ALL that made Zeppelin great. Didn't matter the music style, vibe, tempo...whatever...they had it perfected!! All four members were firing on all cylinders for this masterpiece! Cheers.
Twisted every day. Sometimes it's hard to tell.
Forgot how much I love this song.
A magical journey of beautiful transitions! Nice breakdown gentlemen 🙏🏾
Bron Raw. Every song on here is a classic. I like The Wanton Song and 10 Years Gone, Trampled Under Foot.
JPJ and the Secret Sauce. This album does it all. Mood Vibe Alive
The song Bron-Yr-Aur takes its name from a house located in Gwynedd, Wales ("Bron-Yr-Aur" means "golden chest" in Welsh) where the members of the group had retired to record the Led Zeppelin III album. Recorded in 1970, Bron-Yr-Aur was originally intended to be part of the Led Zeppelin III album. It was unsuccessful and was eventually published on Physical Graffiti in 1975.
With a duration of 2:06 minutes, it is the shortest title of Led Zeppelin.
Physical Graffiti contains Led Zeppelin's shortest and longest songs; respectively Bron-Yr-Aur (2:06) and In My Time of Dying (11:05).

Really great watching you two react to this band. nearly on to my favorite track, next album 'Achilles last stand', can't wait to see your faces, going to blow you away, it's a another masterpiece of music. three cheers to you thanks
Love Jimmy on acoustic guitar.
My all time favorite Zep song, just a major vibe for me 😎
This one became one of my favorite at the first sting. Those who do not like it just ignorant.
Just imagine yourself walking drunk along the sandy abandoned shore somewhere
in newport or salem oregon. Fantastic feeling.
Down By The Seaside is one of only a handful of Zep tunes you can strum and sing on an acoustic. It’s what I play when I’m playing round a fire and someone requests a Zep tune. Ten Years Gone is next. A top 10 Zep song for sure highlighting Jimmy’s genius with chord work and arrangement. Has similar layers of guitar on outro as In The Light. Lovin watching you guys!
Been a bit surprised sometimes at what knocks you out and what doesn’t hit as hard. You guys like the more moody, instrumentally layered tunes (Ramble On, Rain Song, No Quarter, Kashmir, In The Light) and the earlier more straight-ahead heavy blues rock (Lemon Song) but the later rock stuff less so (In My Time of Dying and The Ocean didn’t spark you as much as I thought it would). Keep it going, it’s a pleasure watching you discover the best rock and roll bands (Floyd, Stones, The Who, Steely, Bowie, etc.) that were the soundtrack of my youth. Lovin it!!
wait tell the next song another LZ classic, like u guys best reactions on you tube!!!!
Bron-Yr-Aur is a privately owned 18th-century cottage, on the outskirts of Machynlleth, in Montgomeryshire, mid-Wales, best known for its association with the English rock band Led Zeppelin. In 1970, both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant went there, and wrote many of the tracks that appeared on the band's third and fourth studio albums.
In Welsh Bron-Yr-Aur is "breast of the gold", or by extension, "hill of the gold" or "golden hill"
(from Wikipedia)
Hi Guys , Aussie Chris here 👍It's pronounced Bron Rar 👍
Bron eye aurrrrrr
@@docriley7837 It's pronounced Bron Rar, I've heard both Jimmy Page & Robert Plant say it.I think they would know 👍
Welsh, literally for "breast of gold" but used to describe a hillside [buldge/knoll] of gold [flowers] .
Ten Years Gone is next.....🔥🔥👍👍🗽🗽🧨🧨🎸🎸
Remember the day this album came out sat down twisted a hooter and listen to this hole album another classic by the best
Nice boys, love the needle pops.
Amazing acoustic playing by Page on Bron y aur
La and Che. You never fail on the music. As always fellas great reaction. Much appreciated 🙏 ❤
Sweet boys! 10 years gone is coming...love it man love it!
Loving all your reactions, but Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd especially, as they're my two favorite bands. If you guys want to see Bonzo go all out, check out Led Zeppelin Moby Dick Live At The Royal Albert Hall, 1970.
Psychedelic country music🤯
Imagine our blown minds when this album dropped back in the day
Bron-Yr-Aur was a little England Countryside cottage they retreated to to write acoustic songs and breathe a little after the success of their 1st 2 albums
Bron y Aur, written 5 years earlier, and played live a few times in 1970, noticably 4 Sep 70 'Blueberry Hilll'
Down by the Seaside has always been my favorite LZ deep cut.
Down By The Seaside was recorded in 1970,and should have been on Led Zeppelin-3.
Bron-Y-Ar is a place in Wales, UK that was frequented by the band around 1970. After the hectic pace of recording and touring for Led Zeppelin-2,Bron-Y-Ar was a quiet place to relax for the band to write new material for Led Zeppelin-3.
Correct about the throwback of this song. It was written in ‘70. Bron Yr Aur is where they recorded a lot of the prior songs to this album. It’s the name of an 18th century cottage in the Welsh countyside. They recorded their 3rd & 4th album there (think When the Levee Breaks recorded in the stairwell for that big echo sound). I think this song and the guitar effects with the organ makes it sound Hawaiin or Islandy, and underwater.
Those two songs go together like Peanut Butter & Jelly! Bron-Yr-Aur is an alternate tuning on the guitar. Instead of the standard EADGBE, It's DADGAD. It's also the same tuning for Kashmir...
Bron y aur is the cottage they went to to write and record. That's where Stomp and this one was written
Crazy mix ❤
This song reminds me of the movie thati I saw at midnight every weekend for a year in high school.
You guys are great, thank you!
Thanks for rocking with us!!
Saw them 1969 in Toronto at the Rock Pile
