Lurantis is a cool concept, it’s the inverse of “bug evolved to look like plant” and so it’s “plant evolved to look like bug”
It’s based on an Orchid Mantis- a mantis that looks like an orchid flower.
Giovanni is supposedly the strongest leader in Kanto yet anyone with a decent surf user or say a grass type can destroy him easily. The Ground user is not going to have a fun time
Good strategy could compensate for type disadvantage. Or he cheats somehow cause he's evil. I don't kno what his actual team is tho in canon.

For generation 2, you should add the Elite 4 and NOT tell each other your first round element, it skews what goes from stink to less than stink too much

They're from Florida and he was right. Alligators have a broader snout and are fairly docile most of the time. Crocodiles have a more narrow snout and tend to be more aggressive all the time. Although Crookidile looks more like a Gavial's snout.
Im absolutely loving the tournaments! Gives us more of an episodic feel to the show! Here's an idea, redo the gen tournament 1-8 with this stipulation, in round 1 you only catch 2 pokemon from each gen. Then, the winning team absorbs the losing team. In the finals youd have to cut one gen. But would still be super entertaining. You could easily fit the entire tournament into one video if you wanted.
Y’all Should Pick Who You Want and Assign Moves For This Challenge IMO A Gym Leader Would Bring The Best Of The Best 🤷🏾♂️

Instead of making it a requirement to have a legendary Pokemon i think that it would be better to change the rule to “You have to catch the legendary before finding your 8th regular Pokemon for the challenge.” That way there would be a lot of suspense as the legendary Pokemon would be a rarity.

dunno about in gen 8 but desolate and primordial used to act as sun and rain respectivally but had the effects of only being around so long as the pkemon is and the not allowing water and fire moves

I can confirm there’s no way to do these without at least 1 gym leader have a type disadvantage in the first round. Built a table and everything. The big issue is that ground interacts with everything except psychic one way or the other.

Oof the missed Frenzy Plant messed the poor Kroc. Also, I like Lurantis' design. It is based on the Praying Mantis that looks like a flower, but Pokemon did a twist and made it actually a plant instead of a bug pretending much like Thrusty pretends to be a tree

Idea wheel of curses. Random grass encounter. Catch it and then check the moves. With that decide if u wanna skip. With 5 skips. And then spin the wheel of curses. Ex has 2 moves, has banned ability like truant, de-evolve 1 stage, reveal all moves to rival, change the first move for the last move on relearn, teach celebrate to second slot, next catch must be baby ect
i do like the gym leader battles but i think the format should have been like a sport style 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, and 4v5. Maybe for the next set of gym leaders

You know I hope you do this tournament with every regions gym leaders(or trial Captains in alola) & then do a bracket of the winners for generations 1 through 8 to compete against the winner of the Gen 9 gym leader bracket

6 Overworld encounters of your choosing including 1 legend. Then do 6 random encounters and flip a coin to see if they replace the same number encounter in your party. So you could end with your dream team, a team of babies and anything in between

As an aside, Chilln's Sceptile is pretty decent...it can absolutely ruin things it faces (Snap Trap isn't really necessary, as Octolock also traps). Desolate Land does nullify Water type moves, but it also does increase the power of Fire type moves (same goes for Primordial Sea and rain) as it does change the weather to sunny.

yo chill, what about you guys can either choose the pokemon or choose the moveset. the person who chooses the moveset has to do random encounters and choose their moves after and the person who chooses the pokemon gets to run around and decide who they want to catch. You can also make it so that it alternates which thing you do or u flip a coin yeah go crazy. Idk about the abilities we may need the judges for that but that's all i have.
Lots of choices for Ground to overcome their Grass weakness and plenty of dual typed Grass mons that don't want to face Ground. This one is very interesting.

CHALLENGE IDEA
TYPE DRAFT
QuickGG and Chilln take turns picking which type they would want. They get 1 catch of each type (8 total) and keep their fav 6
Catch 8 random pokemon. Narrow down to 6. Check all of the moves of all your caught pokemon (not just your chosen 6). All of the moves that your pokemon have are listed as your available move pool. Decide your teams' moves from that available pool. Teaching the same move to a pokemon more than once is allowed allowed... So if you catch a gengar with shadowball you could teach it to every member of your team if you want or gengar 4 times.

The first player spin a wheel of all pokemon type and must catch the first Double type pokemon fully evolve he see.
The second player must catch the first Double type pokemon fully evolve he see , matching the second type of the last pokemon the player 1 catch !
Exemple:
Player 1 spin the wheel and get Lightning type (he catch a Toxtricity) (lightning-poison)
Player 2 must catch Double type Poison pokemon (he catch Toxicroak) (Poison-Fighting)
Player 1 must catch Double type Fightning pokemon ( he catch Pangoro) ( Fighthing-Dark)
Player 2 must catch Double type Dark pokemon (he catch Shiftry) ( Grass-Dark ) Etc...
Until both player have 6 pokemon. ( you can allowed 1 legendary per player if you wanth)
Then battle !!!!
(sorry for bad english !!! )
Then we fight:
Both get 3 sets of starters, you can choose the first 6 or last 6 or anything in-between but once you skip over something you miss out on it

sandstorm only increases special defense of rock types, it just doesnt damage ground or steel types. having a lot of fun with this series

Maybe next time you have a gym leader challenge with one type at a disadvantage you should add an extra rule that the one with the advantage can only catch six Pokemon and no legend or something like that, just to even it out a little.
I'm weird as hell but I actually loved using lurantis with Contrary and teaching it Superpower and Leaf Storm, it's broken in a playthrough. I think if switched in properly, it could work in an online battle but it's still honestly not that good and way too situational cause of how squishy Lurantis is lol

@@alexf.5971, there were plenty of things I'd have loved to see...Octolock into Trop Kick to dump Attack, Defense, and Special Defense each turn (Chilln's Sceptile) or Magic Powder into either Earth Power or Shadow Claw (GG's Palossand).
I have to be a giga nerd for a second here, but what QuickGG said at 6:30 is right, however, Krookodile is actually based on a gavial.
