@@andrewrenner6063, the problem it seems with Electric types is that they're either quite fast or bafflingly slow...that base 60 puts it on the upper end of the slow side (so it's good), but quite low on the fast side (bad). For reference, Vikavolt has base 43 and Pincurchin is base *15*.
yeah I mean its the same thing when they get super hype about seeing jolteon but then get super down about seeing regieleki. They're OG fans of the game that think about it in OG mindsets and we love them. They're giving us the fatherly vibes we need because some of us grew up without fathers. Bless these two heros
@@user-dn2tb7uz2b, the Regieleki/Jolteon split is likely because, outside of an extremely fast Thunder Wave (which Jolteon can do as well), Regieleki doesn't get much in the way of options...and very few non-Electric choices.
That said, the pairing of the two is definitely what a lot of us are here for...though, if you want dad vibes, UnitedPlays and ShadyPenguinn are both dads and Pokémon battlers (though they're more competitively-focused than these two).

The Mad Scientist up against the Hardcore War Vet.
Both Desolate Land and Primordial Sea throw up the appropriate weather as well as negating the moves, so they both increase the power of the appropriate moves by 50% as well.
The fact that they think a sun and rain setting ability doesn't boost fire and water moves is just baffling
@@sakspein2942, maybe their line of thinking is that the removal of a certain move type is powerful enough to not receive any other benefit; both boosting the correct type of move and negating the opposite type on one ability is pretty powerful, to be sure...but that's because only one specific Pokémon naturally can have either ability (and a specific form, at that).
@@Alsebra yeah, but they've been wondering that for the past few challenges cuz they keep getting the abilities, I think this is the third time in two weeks... it's not a problem at all, I just thought they'd have been curious to actually check

their knowledge of pokemon is quite bad actually. in the last gym battle, whoever had Giovanni thought that sandstorm would boost ground type's sp def.
You can catch any pokemon you guys want. BUT it must have a 4x weakness to something (like Tyrannitar is to fighter, Rhyperior to water, Aggron also to fighter etc)

And it's crazier that Mean Look was made to not work on Ghost types as of Gen 6. You'd think they would make the psychic type move not work on any Dark types
@@zeospark9715, that was less about the Normal vs. Ghost typing than it was about deciding that Ghosts simply couldn't be trapped into battle (Ghosts will take damage from moves that trap them (like Infestation or Snap Trap) but they can still be switched out freely).

Yeah Chillen definitely messed up at the end there, but it would have been a hard sell either way and very dependent on luck. In my opinion, his best hope was sending in Incineroar first and hoping it wakes up on the second turn. From there he can Topsy Turvey to have Coalossal attack first and hopefully by then the rain would have stopped and *maybe* Fusion Flare would have been enough.
QuickGG didn't do it, but sending in Coalossal means Quick can use Charge Beam to *both* kill Coalossal as well as charge Vikavolt another time. Coalossal isn't a special tank, and it's already barely above half health plus Vikavolt has been boosted once. There isn't a single chance that Coalossal survives even a Thundershock, let alone a Charge Beam. With Vikavolt being boosted up twice, Incineroar dies in one hit.
Like I said, it still requires a huge amount of luck either way, but sending in Incineroar was the better play in my opinion.

Video Idea: each of you catch any Pokémon you want. The other person gets 3 questions to guess the Pokémon. If they get it right, they get to choose if they want it or if the other person has to keep it. If they guess it wrong, the original catcher gets to choose.
Desolate Land DOES boost fire type moves by 50%, just like Sunny Day, and it also can't be removed unless a Pokémon with either Primordial Sea or Delta Stream switches in or the ability holder switches out

These gym leader challenges are honestly so dumb when it’s a super effective vs resistant there is hardly anything you can do but I appreciate the commitment regardless

Here's an idea for a challenge, you both catch a team of 6 Pkms and it can be whatever you want then you both switch all of your teams to each other.
Example Chilln can catch 6 legends or pseudo while Quick can catch a team of mids or babies then y'all switch em.

I think it’d be rad to see a total team BST for both buddies before the fight, I can’t always tell who is the underdog. This one was a nail biter, loving the tournament!
it would be nice if in the finals if you give the pokemon randomized ability and you make its moveset like competitively i mean you decide its moveset it one custom move which it does not learn it would be more fun to much (only for finals)

Sick battle as always you guys! I came up with an idea for later on maybe. A Kanto and Jhoto gyms tournament would be dope since they're rival provinces but it would also make for a bigger, and actually very balanced tourney.

Video idea - 6 random encounters each, no skips. Once you’re done catching and reviewing the teams, you’ll do 6 coin tosses (one for every Pokemon) against each other, take turns calling it. For every coin toss you win, you are able to change a move in that Pokémon’s move set before going into battle.
Intimidate is Incineroar's hidden ability, crazy that it got randomized with it

yo chill, what about you guys can either choose the pokemon or choose the moveset. the person who chooses the moveset has to do random encounters and choose their moves after and the person who chooses the pokemon gets to run around and decide who they want to catch. You can also make it so that it alternates which thing you do or u flip a coin yeah go crazy. Idk about the abilities we may need the judges for that but that's all i have.
I'm ashamed Quick didn't think of Groudon as being a fire ground type
Challenge idea where you can choose any overworld Pokémon you want but you have to find them on routes, not the wild area. Maybe 1 per route and if you skip a route you can’t go back

Random starters(random moves and abilities )tell each other the max power move (the random move it has)of each Pokémon and let the other player pick based on the max power move it has

This may be a bit weird of a suggestion, but I have a new "Let's Play" for you: Digimon Emerald, aka, an Emerald Rom Hack that features Digimon, instead of Pokémon... For either you or QuickGG.
Also, I would love to see you guys make a "Spin-the-Wheel Challenge" where you have to find a Type of Monster that this time, legendary, but a punishment wheel or blessing wheel mixed of what you can do to it. And example for a blessing is any ability, but another example for punishment is that it can learn only two moves. And you have to catch any based on the typing wheel up to ten times, and choose which ones you want to take.
Ill never understand the Dig and Fly hate. (Its two turn???) but ur immune for a turn unless they have earthquake or gust lol
