Happy Romania upload day - I thought they would be Thursdays, so yay, it's early. Man, that's so cool to have people just hop off the crossing onto the road and have it be no big deal.
As usual, the crossing's BEEP BEEP DANGER vibe is out of place with an otherwise charming scene - look how nobody cares. Any day they want to revert back to more pleasant bell tones is fine by me.
I know this area IRL and been here a fair few times (given that my dad brought an old house in 2019 a few km from where this was filmed and is slowly restoring it) and a couple of meters behind this crossing there are a few houses. Sadly i wish they added a more silent mode between 8 PM and 8 AM cause it prolly is annoying hearing it at night. This isnt the only case either (see the Bucharest-Câmpina line, this type of alarm is common on that stretch of line and is loud enough to be heard from about half a km).
As for the passengers getting off on the road, why not? The platform itself is a wreck and theres none on the side the people actually wanna go to, so why bother? :P

@@CFRTrainSpotter it isn't that hard but maybe no one is willing to install it in this old track isolation based soviet crossings
in poland we have this popular acoustic signal generator which has this quiet night mode but it is only ever used on new computer based crossings
in old relay crossings they just slap it in into the mechanical bell circuit and prefer to leave it that way

why so many of the old soviet crossings have signals with gate drive motors but without gates themselves?
they just resorted to a traditional Romanian solution: if it doesnt work, remove it. much like a lot of tram and trolleybus networks in some cities here (under the guise of "lack of money to keep them running").

no, but to make a sort of parallel, some tram lines in my city were removed because they either didnt have enough vehicles to serve the said line, or they never bothered to repair the tracks. i hope you'll understand where im going.
Oh so thats why Romanian railroad crossings have a motor box without gates.
FUN FACT: in my city theres a railroad crossing with manual gates and an abandoned signal. I asked the workers for informations. They said that the signal has been abandoned because romanians were going to force the barrier and it was a dangerous crossing. Fortunately, they didn't remove the signal. It's still here, waiting to rot away.

its not uncommon in Romania (esp rural areas) but this is no longer practiced on modernized lines (or just refurbished platforms). plus no car will cross the road and theres no sidewalks in the countryside, sooooo...

Oh hell, this crossing needs some renewal works done to it, it looks that it had better days lol, also alarm is sstarting to go dodgy, (it was bad already, now it worser bcs yes), but i like it tho

Why don't these thing remain quiet? If they have to have something, then have a bell or something good, but not this.

the siren would stop working once the barrier went down but as you can see the barrier is no longer there. therefore it never leaves the "preparing to fully activate" phase, if that makes sense. additionally i dont think anyone is bothered to even consider sound-dimming, even if a Polish guy told me its possible. so in theory its possible, but in practice, nobody gives a shit.
then you should see the modern Romanian level crossings, which are evolving so badly it makes me prefer the older ones.

@@TudorCrossings Not malfunctioning. They are working as intended. Non-barrier crossings always have the bell running all the time, so it would've been cursed for the mechanism to lower the "arm" and the sound to just stop.
