On my commuter road bike I've been using a Tannus solid tyre on the rear. It was an absolute pain to fit, but it's been no problem since. The ride is extremely firm (which you get used to) but I'm now thinking about what to do when it finally wears out. The inserts may be an option I look into.
Did you ride your brevets with the inserts? If so, was there anything notable during those long rides with them? Did you notice any speed difference over long distances? Were they effective? Did you ever have any flats while using them?
I've never had a flat in all the years using them on my 2 bikes. Just waiting for a Brompton wheel size to be made 😀. I got them after my Audax rides and then covid arrived before I had the chance to use them for one. I would use them for an Audax for sure. Any slight slow down (I didn't have any noticeable slow down) would be made up easily by avoiding just one flat.
Enjoyed your take on our tubed *Tannus Armour* bike insert. Great review! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

I think the inserts are the right balance of comfort and durablity.

If you can get a taxi if you get a puncture do you find a regular bike fits in a taxi?
If you can remove the front wheel they will fit into a black cab. Otherwise it's a matter of getting the right size uber.
