Excellent tutorial! A bamboo slat window blind or roll of fencing might be an economical source for the slats and expand the range of sizes. Hope to try this next year!
Thanks so much! Always wondering how they were made! Living in The Pilipino Town in downtown Los Angeles for so many years, never knew how they were made. They’re so beautiful! Lots of them mixed with the Xmas Lights! Planing to go back this year to see them.
Nice, it will look nicer if the cellophane are stretched in order to remove wave on it. How? if the glue is completely dry, heat it up (cellophane surface) with hair dryer on a distance of 10 inches in motion (avoid the rubber band portion). Wave and wrinkles will be gone be sure all edges of the cellophane are glued well otherwise it will detach.
Thanks for leaving this up as it explains about getting the star in good shape first. Could use paper, fabric or lace for another look and add LED lights these days too. Very well explained thank you.
Where can I find flat bamboo sticks? I tried to use bbq sticks but when I was trying to put the pegs, the stars are difficult to pull and my bbq sticks broke.
Nice video. I wonder if you carefully put a hairdryer to it, would the cellophane shrink and become smooth and taut and eliminate the slack and creases?
Nice. Is that a kit, or did you make your own bamboo sticks? I remember my dad making one out of shirt hangers, when I was a kid. It lasted for many years. In fact, I think my little brother still has the original frame. He has replaced the original paperwork over the years. It must be 40 years old by now. rja Mabuhay
