oh boy i clicked so fast when I saw Filipino and its 4 AM here in the Philippines when this was uploaded 😂
Who searched this up after watching the new Disney Filipino short LOL
me lol im inspired already
I was inspired to create or put up a parol in my apartment. Many seem to have forgotten the tradition due to changing times.
Me!!!
Bro Forreals hahaha
Me, I never considered making my own parol before watching it lol
I have many of those at home in the Philippines, but now I live in England and now I can make it... thank u Nifty
I'm someone from Pampanga, Philippines and I can, indeed, confirm that during Christmas season, you'll definitely see a lot of parol vendors along the road bringing life and colorful wonder to the place especially during the night. :) Not only that but the street lights are also decorated with parols!
The reason behind this is that Pampanga is considered as the Giant Lantern of the Philippines (aside from being the Culinary Capital as well). So yep. We take our parol *very seriously*. :)
Wa pin😂
Malambat tanang marakal gagawan keng bangsa, nya madagul dagul nerin a contribute ta diang nanu nanung panyabyan da kekata
Never have I been so excited to watch a Nifty video!!! Thank you for creating this. Did not need to watch this as my family has several parols already up at our house, but felt inclined to as I've never seen any internet content created towards filipino customs during Christmas.
Thank you for the tutorial! I came here after watching (and crying to) Disney UK’s Filipino-themed Christmas advert 😅 I’ve never made a parol before, as I grew up in the States and my parents were never very crafty 😂 I hope chopsticks are a suitable alternative to bamboo ‘cause I have plenty hehe
Did chopsticks work?🤪
I have one of these they are so beautiful especially when they light up (not all light up)
This is exactly what I was looking for. Your instructions are easy to follow. Salamat!
Awww...love that the mom & daughter made this video ❤ together
I sooo wanna do this, they're so pretty when you see them lining the streets😍😍👌🏻
Oh yeah!!! School project EVERY freaking Christmas! And good on you for using cellophane sheets. Legit!!!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have always admired the parol even though growing up in the U.S. the Christmas tree was always the symbol of the Advent Season. Now, I can do both for this year with the help of your video. Maligayang Pasko sa inyo!
Uploaded just in time for the simbang gabi!
Ang galing! Maligayang Pasko!
aww i remember doing this every year for high school lol
Galing Ganda!! 💫💛💫
Thank you for this simple tutorial of making a parol. This video helped my child a lot in completing her school project. :)

I had JUST asked my mom again to bring me a parol from home for Christmas but it was too expensive and too fragile to risk bringing home. I’ve been asking for one for years and now... this! Thanks!

Good job!
🇵🇭 Mabuhay
My favorite part of making the parol after putting the cellophane, drizzle some water over it then use a blow dryer to shrink the cellophane to give it a stretched look.
Thank you for sharing but where to buy the cellophane?
Hi What's the name of wooden material did you use for frame? Thank you. ❤
Where can I get/ buy the bamboo sticks? I’d like to make a couple this yr.
Yey! 💖
Searched this for my kids parol project 😁
what size wooden dowel pins did you use?
Nice 😊
What do you use with bamboo glue and cellophane??
where do i buy the clear colored sheets
Unmistakable Pinoy symbol for Christmas 🎄
What is the list of materials needed to make this beautiful idea?
Where can I get the bamboo sticks like the ones in the video?
Lantern culture is scattered throughout Asia, in the Philippines it is connected to Catholism just because of Spanish Colonization, but Lanterns in the Philippines existed in Pre-Colonial era.
true
Awwsome! where can i purchase some japanese papers?
Maligayang Pasko!!
When i saw filipino i clicked so fast😂
Very Nice
does anyone know where to get/order the bamboo sticks?
This is similar to Indian Diwali star lantern
We used to hang it in Diwali festival
Where did you get those bamboo sticks? Specific store please. Thanks.
Cant find them in any store(in my area at least) so i order mine from amazon, so far they only have 15.5" long..gonna start making parol project with my kiddo maybe my Filipino neighbor will recognize that im Filipino 😂😂
I came here because of a school project thanku
Where can you buy materials?
wow nice video
They're selling these between $300-500 at Seafood City in Vegas.
Oh wow we make the same lanterns in India too but mostly exclusive to the catholic community
I hope someone can help me. I live in the US and I was wondering where I can purchase the materials. I would really like to start this making parol tradition for this year. Thank you in advance.
in elementary school we were assigned to make one of these and attaching cellophane to the frame was frustrating af so my dad just got someone to do it for me
I made this every year when i was in the elementary school! We used cooked rice when we ran out of paste bahaha!!
And when we run out of rice, we use saliva😂😂😂
Ganda po anong gamit po yan
Very nice now i have idea to create a parol tha ks
Oh, yeah. I remember making this in 1st year in High School for T.H.E. I don't know how I got through. LOL And Im from Pampanga so you see others made better ones
Thank you, you saved my grades xD
What do you called on the paper that you used for the tail? Thank you!😀
If it’s the orange and blue colored paper it’s Japanese paper
To those Filipinos who say they're full Filipino and havent heard of a parol, that may be because you grew up in a different country. In the Philippines you'll see those colorful stars hanging on almost every house around Christmas time. But if you're from the states like myself you'll barely see them here because parols here are sooo expensive, ranging from $150 to $300 and making them is time consuming. We just use the regular lights and christmas decorations that are sold in walmart for so much less.
Hmmmm unless they live somewhere where there aren't that many pinoys. But I'm a quarter pinoy and I knew about these since I was a kid. I've seen this on people's windows especially the ones with lights. That's how I know they're Pinoys. They sell these in filipinon stores!
You can't have lived in the Philippines and not know about these. Even foreigners who stay in the country over the holidays have seen these.
😍
we already made that and it took like 3 days cuz i had to make the tail tho and it was ok
that was very creative, thanks for the idea so i will not buy more lantern every christmas
May I know what is the size of that parol
❤👍
can u make a easy star like for kids to prep for school assignment
I used bamboo sticks to make a parol. Why wont they stick??? Im losing another good score from my school huhu. Why mine is so fragile???
Who else was here before 50 comments
Mark Pfluger no
No
Can anyone tell me where to get those Bamboo sticks? The flat ones?
Amazon or eBay bro if no luck try a art supply store
Cardboards, plastics or any flat bendable scraps will do.
I'm 56th!
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
I made this by myself when I was 14yrs old. Prepared the bamboo myself using a bolo because we have bamboo plants in the backyard.
FILIPINO KANDEEL 😍 only Indians will get that!
Filipino here😂😊
OH MY GOSH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I LOVE MAKING THESE WITH MY GRANDPA
AND DESTROYING THEM AFTER CHRISTMAS 😂
Tip: Lanterns at the market are half the price before the ber months.
