Very significant navy news as aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) completes the first scheduled explosive event of Full Ship Shock Trials while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, June 18, 2021.

@@kumir_ yes us navy have marine life expert to make sure there is minimal damage to sea creatures, the ford test was delayed due to marine life if I remembered correctly.

I would like to see the videos from inside the carrier and how much it shook I also wonder if the people monitoring the test wear mouth piece I'm sure their teeth felt the shock just as much their body did.

Kinda the ultimate fishing with a cherry bomb.
When you compare the energy wave in the water the blast made it is pretty much nothing to the 2-3 waves (in Cal.) that are consider by surfers as just ridable. That shows how much energy the wind gives the ocean surface in the pacific.

Ship is very strong, unless, of course, the explosion weakened it. Need another test... and then another... and so on.
That explosion was as big as the ship, then it went up into the air as tall. Bring on those icebergs!

I know you have to test these vessels but I would hope that it's done in a way that minimizes the death of whales and so forth

I was told this but not sure how accurate it is when the Navy does these shock tests they do take precautions not to harm sea life especially whales and large school of fish they are easy to spot and wait for them to pass as for the smaller fish ones that swims alone not much can be done. I hope that answers your question that the Navy does take precautions but it's not 100% full proof.
