For how shallow the water is, it still looks like a full lake from the light ground it's on. Kinda cool! So far I only ever flew over the salt flats.
Right!! I have so much more footage that I had to cut - fun fact, the salt flats USED to be a lake (in prehistoric times) and it was called lake bonneville! So the title card is a little nod to that history :)
There are some incredible photos of this happening at other salt flats and it will look like a giant mirror so people look like they are floating.
I definitely gotta visit it sometime when I'm back in the US.

Not sure why this reminded me of Cody Hovland but it did. Anyways good content as always. Jet powered stuff is always funny. When I saw the skimboard I thought "thats gonna hurt if he falls." That did more than I expected.

That fall was BRUTAL, those flats are straightup salted sharp rocks and the water was less than 2", and the way you fell onto the knees OOOUUCHH. thanks for the dedication of masking the pain to get this video done!

Electric Jet seems a kind way to describe what just looks like an overbuilt computer fan. I'm not surprised the jet engine is so much more performant.

back at the Salt Flats hmmmmm? I went too early to test my homemade go kart in the spring of 2023 and ended up getting caked in a white crust.

I wonder if you could use an EDF and have it blow through a Carburettor into a combustion chamber with sparkplugs/ignitors, making a sort of a jet engine, i don't know how well EDF or their propellers would work with increasing pressure but i am curious a.to how such a cobbled piece would perform let alone get developed.

EDF scooter gets fun around 10mph and tops out around 20mph - and the batteries puffed a lil 😂 but well worth it!
If I were to do this from scratch, I’d start with bigger EDF’s, and see if I could use a beefier battery (like an escooter battery)

maybe take something like a street legal dirt bike, mount two jets, one on either side of the tail, and you could use the factory fuel tank plus another one where the engine used to be.

Actually the closest you can get to "salt in the wound" is what Mark does to Houston Jones where he LITERALLY throws salt into Houston's open wounds.

So, the undisputed winner is the gas-jet scooter BEFORE you put the gas jet on it.
Quiet, practical for daily use, and as fast as you would ever want to go.
I think you would have seen MUCH better acceleration had you not been turning the two hub motors. That and if the wires of the motors had shorted themselves out while you were going 60 mph it could have locked up the front and or rear wheel instantly causing a crash you would not want to experience. The hub motors don't have much resistance with the wires open, but the magnetic cogging and un-sprung weight were both fighting against the jet's ability to accelerate you from a dead stop.
No way. I have the exact same scooter AND JET ENGINE (its in my vids) I have a different mounting situation though, more triangles. you beat me too it lol

Really missed the opportunity to keep electric and then let the jet take over as it was already going
The scooter company told me there’s a built in speed limiter. I had to completely unplug the ESC’s to ride it, otherwise it would have capped itself around 50mph I believe.
