Thanks very much, great video. I can recall my childhood on the underground by listening to the sounds. I have this set on order and will look to install a sound chip. Very useful information.
Great video Eric. I like your layout, very well done. The 1938 tube stock have a special character, I guess Isle of Wight had to modernize, but.......!!!!!
Thanks for all the detail - it must be more difficult driving the model than the real thing, which after all makes most of the noises without having to press a button! Great video.
Tis a good point, i suppose there is quite a lot of buttons to remember! Thats why i only use Loksound in all of my trains - so that i can alter the layout of the functions so every loco/train has things like whistles/door functions ect always on the same buttons. Makes it a lot easier
@@UndergroundEric yeah i was wondering that, is there a way you can just get it to play through a sequence of the sounds in the order you want with 1 button or do you have to press all the different buttons individually to activate the sounds in order.
@@CustomiZe_ what sort of sequence would you want? You could do it but it would have to be done in the actual sound file itself rather than just in the settings
@@UndergroundEric ah right i see, I was just interested if the sequence you played towards the end of the video of it leaving the station was able to be played just by pressing 1 button rather than 5+.buttons. I mean I wouldn't be able to anything like that anyway, it all seemed far too confusing to me it just seemed like numbers and letters to me lol 😆
Thanks bud! Lot of work lol, ive only been on merseyrail once or twice but thought it was pretty cool! Love the traction motor sound on the 508s, very similar to this
Thx a lot, great vid, great sound! Mine arrived this week, after a one month hold at the dutch customs. Cant afford sounddecoders yet. Looking forward to your lighting video. Just checked the possibilities. The headlight seems to be quite a challenge to me…
I used to also. It never really did, it once upon a time had a small halt, but Harefield Road was meant to be built on the same spot, however was cancelled after the was sadly!
@@UndergroundEricYes only joking, but I do remember the builders yard by the bridge where it was supposed to be built . I'm now on the south coast so its all nostalgic looking at your fantastic layout. Please keep posting your video's.
Magnificent as always..What sound level have you set the volume too...reason I ask as I am very hard of hearing but the notching up at the start of a run...them I could hear..strange ?
Ahh ok, its fairly loud to be honest. I played around with it to a point where i thought the volumes of the various sounds were all about right from what i remember of them. Hopefully you would be okay
Hey chris, id have to find out what the CVs are for each individual sound slot, although it should be standard across loksound v5 decoders so if you have a search for the esu V5 manual youll be able to find the cvs for the sound slots there as im not at my computer atm
@@UndergroundEric lovely cant wait. I gotta save up a bit for the sound file…bought the APT 7 car pack and the 38 stock this month…officially broke now 🤣
I am in the process of converting a non-motorised EFE 38TS, and wonder if the V5 Loksound could be made available as a wired decoder instead of the Plux22? Thanks and really good work!
@@UndergroundEric I would be running a 6 car unit with two Tenshodo coreless bogies at each end, in the DMs. I'm assuming you can tweek the momentum, damping etc., as with most Lok decoders.
@@adder12 you could put both motors in a single car, ive done this in the past, 6 car unit will possibly struggle mind. The coreless ones are good though, ive used one in my class 484. Can adjust the acceleration ect yes
I ordered this model without DCC chips hoping to see how others go about fitting sound and extra lights. Do you think it is possible to fit one sound decoder and one non-sound decoder and still get the motors synchronised? Two sound decoders are a painful hit on the wallet!
Yes it is possible, funnily enough i spent last night getting it to work on a bachmann s stock! Only trouble is a bit of a shortage of lokpilot V5s in Plux22 at the mo supposedly
@@UndergroundEric I'm very patient. Lots to do on my railway before I'll be worrying about this. A video explaining how you achieved it some time would be great. Looking forward to your lighting video. UA-cam really is an inspiration for less skilled modellers like me. Thanks Eric!
The sounds are really good, however, each time the train starts to move there is a sort of squeak sound which I don’t recognise from travelling on the real thing in the past. That noise would put me off buying the sound chips. Otherwise everything else is sounding great. Chris
@@UndergroundEric I see, that explains it. Thanks for the quick reply Eric. I’ll look into getting the sound chips for my 7 car train I’ve put together and maybe add an extra speaker or two. 👍🏻
@@Hazel584 no worries mate, its a bit of a hard one really as obvs every unit is different so some may do it, some may not depending on how quick the brakes release and so on. 🙂
Great sound file, wide range of realistic sounds. Q. Out of the box (DC before decoder fitted) did you find the motors quite noisy ? Mine is, just wondering if it's normal.
Thanks. Yes one of mine are a bit noisy but the other isnt too bad strangely. They arent as silky smooth as the bigger bachmann motors but ive had a lot worse 🙂
Cheers. In service they ran as a 7 car set usually, i myself wont be however, my layout is built to accomodate 3ft long stock, so 4 car london underground trains or 3 car mainline trains unfortunately!
Impressive. I can almost feel myself bouncing along on the seats.

Hey Nigel, yeah if you order a wired loksound v5 micro (easier to hide than standard) the file can be used it just needs the motor settings tweaked :)

The little squeal you hear is the train moving away just as the brakes are still releasing, so you get a little chirp from the brake blocks.
