    Dubov always has the same spaced out expression whether he is winning or losing. That was a textbook strategic illustration of what White wants in the Smyslov Variation, and what Black must avoid. For interested KID pl,ayers, plans with Bf5 for Black are more reliable than the f5 plan Amin adopted in this game.

      Honestly it was quite obvious that this game was just poorly played and these the kingside expansion from bassem was seriously questionable

    For those who do not understand: black’s position was already lost as, for example, if Qxd2 (instead of desperate Qb4+) there was forced checkmate after Bh7+. If Nxh7 then just Qxh7 checkmate, if Kh8, Qxf8 also with a checkmate

    dubov is a great player, but this game does not demonstrate it. black was outmatched by far.

      he didn't resign, he lost by time and it's a 100% losing position, dubov was lunching a massive attack and he really makes the other player looks like an amateur

      Barely sacrificial since both black g pawns would have been blocked by white playing g3 which can't really be attacked, as far as I understand it. Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong !

      @@OlivierMil46 true.also taking the pawn would result in a deadly attack with the h and f file open and the queen ready to jump in blacks camp.

      It's a Staunton pattern set, but not an especially nice one. The knights look very crude.

      If white Qxh6 then black Qxb2 with a double attack on the white knight at c3 becaude the bishop on g7 also eyes it. So black wins back the Knight

    Ameen lost on time. Nb3 would have been the reply by white after Qb4+and then black can't avoid mate, threat is Bh7+ if Kh8 the Qxf8+ Ng8 Qxg8# and if Nxh7 Qxh7#

      If 1...Qxd2, then 2. Bxh7+. If 2...Nxh7 then 3. Qxh7 checkmate, and if 2...Kh8, 3. Qxf8 is checkmate.
