The swan might have enjoyed, peppers incorporate a small part of the diet of birds and is a good source of Vitamin C for them(Bulbuls, Shrikes, Barn Swallows, Flowerpeckers, Sunbirds couldn't synthesize their vitamin C)
As least bird are less sensitive to capsaicin which make pepper spicy . They can't taste it or actually like it because it has a small taste for them since they dont have a really well developped sense of taste .
Capsaicin doesn't interact with taste receptors but pain/heat receptors. In mammals that is. Birds have different pain/heat receptors which capsaicin can not interact with, so they don't feel the effects.

I mean it's entirely possible that it was an accident. Not saying there aren't cruel people that would do something like that but at the same time I can see many situations where it could happen unintentionally. I've seen someone at our local beach be startled by a swan flapping its wings at them before and they dropped their ice cream directly onto the bird as a result, so the same thing could happen with other foods/sauces.
0:51 there’s a duck like that who always visits us when we go to lake Comanche. But, he’s brown instead of black. We named him Gerald and we always feed him corn or peas. He’s very nice and he brightens my day every time I see him there. 😊❤❤
Even though i have personally had bad experiences with swans NOBODY and i mean NOBODY should be hurting them etc. Also those little tail wiggles and honks were amazing! Ty for being calm with them, lots of people run up to them so good on you for being respectful and actually feeding them something they can eat :D

It can still burn their eyes, and still damage their mucous membranes. You don't have taste buds in your eyes but it sure hurts to get pepper in your eyes.

Beautiful birds. I haven't seen a place with many geese and ducks like that and they were very friendly. Regarding the " chilli sauce", that was not chilli sauce. Chili sauce are homogenous orange/red mixtures. That looked like a water based old paint that had been so long so it got separated with pink, orange, red and black colors. Perhaps that was the washed brushes water came from a painter. Probably some spoiled kids threw that over the bird.

Heck, they don’t even get seeded wholemeal bread or something, which has at least some nutritional value, they always seem to choose the cheapest WHITE bread they can find 😭 That stuff gives me stomach issues sometimes, can’t imagine what it does for them.

It evolved to deter us mammals, but not birds, because we destroy seeds of those fruits that we eat and birds don’t. It’s an awful thing to do to an animal if it didn’t just get into a messy accident on its own but it wouldn’t cause the kind of burning and stuff you guys are thinkng of. They have different receptors.
Well two honest answers: 1) there are people out there who intentionally do things like this to animals so they can create videos “helping” them. This is especially true with sea turtles 🐢 covered in barnacles. 2) some people hate ducks/geese,swans so much because of all the poo. They do horrible things to them so they permanently leave. 🙁
1) People who do this usually rescue the animal themselves instead of calling. They want to film and they want the credit to get fame and money. 2) One of the most common reasons people report disliking waterfowls is because of their territorial behaviours, and alleged aggressivity.
When going out to rescue I often wonder if the person calling in is a Proxy by Munchausen type and he threw chilli sauce aka blood on the bird!... Those types want the attention for their good deed but have to create a problem to get you out there. Also glad you don't go out alone as that is another issue for women especially. If he calls in the future please do not let your guard down and figure that he's called before so it will be okay to go out to where he is.
Munchausen by proxy is not a savior complex. It's pretending a person you are caring for has severe physical and mental disabilities to garner sympathy, attention, help and such. It itself is usually considered a pathology aswell. A savior complex is just the narcissist tendencies of humans. There are definitely people who have savior complexes or do it just for views/attention with animals, but those people almost exclusively do the rescueing themselves, there is no glory to be had in calling someone to save an animal in the eyes of many, so it's unlikely this would ever happen.
What are you feeding them, we have a big fountain in town with a couple of swans and ducks that I'd like to feed because I've heard not to feed them bread. But I can't find anywhere what they like.

They dont cite anything on their page. The only research that has been done on the effects of bread on birds have been with captive and abused livestock. There is pretty much no research, and what little research there is links not what is in their food to angel wing, but the amounts of fat and protein they receive. the swan food that they do sell is even more rich in these than bread normally is. The problem is overfeeding of this at an early age can cause these issues. It is best to be cautious of how much high fat food you are giving birds.

It's hard, not quite fresh but not really spoiled or truly stale? Maybe slightly stale at worst, but usually not so much that it wouldn't be edible. I wonder if it's too stale for waterfowls. Didn't know there was bread feeding myths, but i feel like i remember hearing that it can cause bloating.

there are alot of not very nice people in this world, i came across 2 pigeons in the last 2 weeks that had ben attacked by what i presume to be dogs, due to the fact they were on well travelled dog walking paths and it was in the middle of the day when no wildlife would even bother to be in a populated area

It's hard, not quite fresh but not really spoiled or truly stale? Maybe slightly stale at worst, but usually not so much that it wouldn't be edible.
I wonder if it's too stale for waterfowls. Didn't know there was bread feeding myths, but i feel like i remember hearing that it can cause bloating.

I thought this was a crazy challenge video when I read the title. Doesn’t it sound like something Mr. Beast would do? “On today’s episode, we’re gonna attempt to throw this chili sauce over a random swan!” The sauce almost looked like blood too.

In our neighborhood we had Darth, friends had Duck Vader, Air Brakes, and nextdoor, the biggest one I ever saw, Jabba the Duck. He flew over our roof. And people say Drake's are too heavy to fly. Only saw him twice.

Mostly Canada and greylag but also barnacle and Egyptian.
there are alot of not very nice people in this world, i came across 2 pigeons in the last 2 weeks that had ben attacked by what i presume to be dogs, due to the fact they were on well travelled dog walking paths and it was in the middle of the day when no wildlife would even bother to be in a populated area
Sadly pigeons are disliked by many, I think they’re adorable ❤️
