- Bowie and his band perform the soundcheck before the GLASS SPIDER open air concert on 6th of june, 1987.
The rehearsed songs are:
All The Madmen, Loving The Alien, and Glass Spider.
After seeing Bowie over 35 times in concert over the years....every show was always beyond amazing....What a great voice...great performer....no matter what 'stage' he was in, amazing!
What was your favorite tour?
When Bowie sings the 'Praaaaaaay' parts in 'Loving the Alien' his voice is absolutely Divine. I can just see the video.
Bowie was a master of his craft. A true rock god!!
The Prettiest Star that
ever was and ever will be 🖤💙🖤
💫🖤💙🖤💫
its hard to believe this was 35 yeas ago in that wonderful Summer of 87 and the great man has now
I'd give everything to see him 😭
Even his rehearsal is like a studio recording.
It is a Mobile Studio Recording, indeed
È sempre un piacere vederlo....era un vero teatrante....love Bowie forever
Intro to 'Loving the Alien' sounds brilliant
I would have been so happy to be the guy sweeping the stage floor.
Bowie forever!!
0:00 All the Madmen; 3:51 Loving the Alien; 11:30 Glass Spider
What a show this rehersal! Coming home in Berlin!
Thanks for posting I’m always fascinated by sound checks. I bet it was a bit intimidating to be in a band with ONE BOSS. Your job is to service his performance 😮
Thank you for posting❤️ beautiful memories xxx
Great band.
Dont remember his doing all the the madmen on the GS tour...many thanks for posting....
Vendo Bowie penso como Deus faz coisas interessantes.❤❤❤
The biggest star😍🌟⭐
3:50 loving the alien
Realmente increíble este registro
Питер Фремптон это просто мой из одних любимых гитаристов.
Große Nummer. Ich war 1987 alle drei Tage mit dabei. Juhu
Yey yey yey yey
Better than the concert itself
Grandeeee
That nasty wind- and it was June, I read.
Zane Zane Zane ouvre le chien...this is wonderful txs for sharing ❤
...und ich war live dabei...
3:51
This tour has aged well........
It's a good job Carlos Alomar is a great guitarist because he seems like a pain in the ar*e 😑
No Understend, traslation.
Who is the quy who doesn't know the song's names and always says: Ok, stand by? 🤔🤷♀️
Carlos Almorar Bowie's rythym guitarist.
He is serving as musical director. Umm he knows the names of the songs.😂
Whoever is doing backing vocals on 'All the Madmen' is off key several times
so who gets to play the real drums....??
An absolute career low point. The album was bad enough. The show/tour even worse. Cringe!
Godness, I was at this very show. Will never forget how he came down from the ceiling of the stage, slowly from the left side. What a mindblowing night that was. Bless you David!
I might want to add some things for the history books. This show took place in summer 1987. The wall between East and West Germany was still there. Originally said to be there as an "anti-imperialist/anti-capitistic security wall". It was stupid from the beginning. Without going into too many details: On that night people at the east side wanted to listen to David Bowie. They tried to get as close to the german / german border (!) as possible. There was police on the east Berlin side. There was some riot. It was beautiful on the western side of the wall and (don't know which word to use) bad on the eastern side. Luckily, not short afterwards, crumbling of the german wall started. Think very carefully about a wall in the US.
Cool
@@rahan9886 yeah thanks @Ragnvald
@@karimamilena only between mexico and uUS.
@@gregorypsotka7143 Yes, very sad border as well. Hope it will be overcome one day.
Saw this show a few times, amazing! I don't go to many concerts much anymore because after seeing Bowie so many times over the years he raised the bar so high that everyone seems like an opening act in comparison.
The great Peter Frampton on guitar!!!
his hair was perfect......even during soundcheck
alien increible song beautiful song!!love forever DB
Bowies vocals outstanding: )
Saw Glass spider at cardiff arms park 1987, the first 'proper' gig i went to! and still the best after all these years, Bowie on stage is pure theatre!
Lucky you to have Bowie as your first live act! good choice.
Magnificent . The first time I saw Bowie live was Glass Spider Tour at Roker Park Sunderland when I was 20. It blew me away ands this clip captures the sound of the tour perfectly. I have seen the Man on Tin Machine tour, Sound and Vison and Reality Tour twice since then. Always will be proud to be a Bowie fan . The best.
What a soundcheck !!!!!!1 zane zane zane , beautiful harmonies
I saw This Tour In Kansas City, Missouri!! It REALLY does take a Village to put on a great stage show!! David Bowie is so RELAXED before his shows!! Really Amazing Performer!!!!!!!!!!
I see that some commenters are criticizing some aspects of this video, be it the vocals, the guitar sound, etc. This is a Sound Check, not a performance. People need to realize that performing outside is different and more challenging from a technical standpoint than playing inside a theater or arena.
In particular, getting the proper sound on the monitors; if the person can't hear themselves properly while singing, there's a good chance the accuracy is going to suffer. This video is from 1987 and the gear back then is obviously not as advanced as it is now.
Arena sound sucks. I'll take outdoor any day of the week than a high RT time in an arena.
Still man, at this point I appreciate the video person and the uploader that made this happen.
And this sound check is awesome even with Carlos vox on top.
C'mon man, we r all critics with opinions.
Right on the money!Soundchecks are not a gig period!Thats a time when you can goof around a bit and make sure everyone whos playing can hear themself properly and this was before inears so it will take a little longer to get everything sorted out.
This is amazing footage, mindblowing!!!!!
I love it especially as I was there that weekend with Eurythmics and Genesis. And again the clash between East- and West-Germany. Love this clip to bits.
Astonishing, stunning, very unique behind-the-scenes snippet. Excellent feast for fans ! Besides this is the only occasion to listen to his great song 'All the Madmen' live in a fine quality. Simply fantastic !
Beautiful ❤️✨
Thank you for this X
First time I saw David on a stage I was a little teenager and I didnt really move a muscle for 3 hours :)
Peggy schjødt i was 30 and i didn't either. Not a good era 'live. Cold.
Frampton!
Thank You! 🎶
Thank you so much.
Thank you!!!
He was so hot 🔥
Fantastic!
That's Peter Frampton there on the right!
Yes.
Nice to see these songs done live
great Bowie
Thanx this is soo Awesome... saw this toour 3X in L.A. could have done w/o the dancer's though, even though they were an Avant Garde dance troup, the Music is what matter's.
Thanx again...One of the giants of RnR, come back to music 'Davy' we miss you.~
so goood!!!
"Alien please."
Thank you for sharing this. Give us the full sound check k please :)
That´s why I´m always happy!!!!!!! DB is God.
gewoon echt super
terrific song!
11:05 keyboard player playing Pools from Steps Ahead. Cool!
Not a good epoch for Bowie (despite his constantly phenomenal output). I saw this stadium mega-show in Rome, and felt oddly disappointed. I've been a ardent fan since his second album... and, honestly, OUTSIDE and EARTHLING restored my respect and interest in the man. His last years have been amazing again!
Mr. Rojas..
keyboard sounds amazing, anyone know what type, guessing jupiter 8?
OK, thanks for pointing that out.
Maybe that's why Carlos is a rhythm guitarist?
Is that Tony Mascia at the beginning?
Kind of looks like him.
Yes!
that horrible high Pitched vocal is Carlos Alomar.. check out some live versions of 'stay' for Similar examples.. Frampton would never have gotten away with a solo career singing like that.
Any guitar players out there that can pick out what Peter is doing & do a video tutorial or a tab? My ears are not that great and neither is my theory to follow note 4 note.
Yeah Carlos vox are not on point needed to turn his shit down or better yet - off!
Where were the black back up singers from young Americans? Specifically Luther Vandross?
That band was years ago. Luther was a * by the time of this lame tour.
It is not a luther vandrossbshow...seek elsewhere..
tun3tym3
Oh boy. You think Bowie's got the same band and singers for 13 years. Come on now
👍🏿
Dreadful backing vocals . . .
Peter Frampton chiefly I think
thats carlos alomar
paddy9i99 Let me remind you this is a souncheck not a gig!Soundcheck means that they are adjusting the levels of the intruments, vocals etc trough the monitors so they can hear themselfs properly and when that was all done i can bet a million bucks that the backing voc and everything else sounded perfect when the show began and thats all that matters not a"silly"soundcheck. And soundchecks is also a time when you can goof around a bit and have a laugh.
