  • We absolutely love Thai food. But even though we're in Thailand, we get a craving for certain foods we're used to back in the US.
And someone was craving tacos today so we went on a mission to find Mexican food in Bangkok.
Of course, we share the journey to get there, which was about a 20 minute or so walk from our hotel, Centre Pointe Hotel in Chidlom to La Monita Taqueria in Ploen Chit.
    Here's what we got:
Candy: Loaded nachos and a barria-style taco.
Jason: Huge plate of beef, beans, and rice with tortilla shells underneath (was kind of an odd place for the shells, but tasted great).
We didn't know what to expect but this place really does cook up some awesome Mexican food. La Monita Taqueria is a must-visit place if you're in Bangkok and craving America-style Mexican food (this tasted like what we're used to at our favorite Mexican restaurants in the US, specifically Tampa, FL area).
After that, we walked back to the Chidlom area to get more exercise.
We hope you enjoyed our video. If so, please give it a thumbs up and make sure you're subscribed.

The food looked really good. Made me hungry for Mexican. Those crazy, elevated powerlines still amaze me. How is tipping at restaurants handled compared to the US?

The power lines are nuts! lol! But yeah, this was great Mexican food. Tipping isn't typical here, though we do usually leave tips unless there's already a service (you'll see that on some receipts). And we also like to give a little extra to taxi drivers. We just got a 20-minute taxi ride across super busy Bangkok traffic 100 baht ($2.84 USD)...that's ridiculously affordable (we do have an upcoming video in a few days that will have a tip of dealing with taxis here...some are known to overcharge - we ask them to use the meter and we'll usually give extra).

Unfortunately I didn’t get the birria tacos I was looking for. That’s okay because I’m very aware that anything outside of Thai food can be tricky.
