You can probably get an Imperial Guard army. Then get a bunch of GSC to run along with the IG and end up with two 2000 point armies you can mix and match. And still probably save money.

Was just watching the video on starting a new Necron army and thinking... How to start Necrons: "Plan out an army, purchase any recent Combat Patrol box, then build out from there." How to start AdMech: ".........A Song of Ice & Fire is a tabletop miniature wargame where you take control of one of the great houses of Westeros following the death of King Robert Baratheon..."
If Admech was an elite or semi elite army I would 100% collect an army. But since they are a horde army with the most expensive kits I wont go near them for a while.
AdMech is my main army and I think they're really fun to play, but Auspex is right about the expense. If I were you, I would try really hard to get a hold of the 9th Edition combat patrol (Enginseer, Skitarii, Kataphrons, Dunecrawler), the Boarding Patrol (Dominus, Skitarii, Infiltrator/Ruststalkers, Kataphrons) or the Elimination Maniple box from last year. Any of those will save you a ton of money in the long run if you can get them for a reasonable price, and considering the point/dollar ratio of the army, nearly any discount is significant.
@@Cannonhead I play Admech too and I've got the bulk of my force second hand on ebay. Picking up peoples collections they abandoned on the cheap. Ironically the codex drop actually increased the number of cheap models out there because it was so underwhelming. But getting the big boxes tends to be pretty tough. I recently finished putting together an admech army for an art project. Second hand is your best friend here. A lot of people got out of admech in 9th so assembled unpainted minis were easy to come by at least before the new codex. Fortunately my LGS sells second hand models. I also managed to find one of the old elimination maniple Christmas boxes at a huge discount. Combined I spent just over $600 on 2000 points. Call around until you can find a store that sells second hand. I saved hundreds of dollars and got to make a couple of road trips to stores I would never have went to other wise.
only way I would consider is to be focused on the 2nd hand market, where is not super rare to find all the Imperium Admech minis clumped together for around 50-60€. This gives you 10 rangers/vanguard, 1 Marshall, 2 tech-priests and 3 Kataphron servitors for a somewhat reasonable price.
They don’t need to be freeblades. Plenty, ie too many to name, Houses are sworn to the Mechanicus and deploy alongside them in the lore. Get a Castellan. Bump the lethality of the army right then and there since their anti tank is practically a myth
In all seriousness, it’s just not a good point in time to consider Admech as a 2000 pt competitive army. The best advice would probably be to watch the secondary market for re-sales. Be selective and buy what you like as opposed to trying to just chase the current meta lists. I have think that, down the road, there will be adjustments to the faction to make it more playable. Also, it’s just possible that low sales.of the models might result in GW repackaging models into box sets. But that’s not likely to happen until late next year. So go really slow, look for bargains on line, wait for future dataslate adjustments.
Resin is higher quality, but more "tedious" to use. Plastic is higher durability and easier, but usually less "HD". I would use plastic for large models/terrain if the printer was really good, but if not, stick with resin. Also Ebay and Etsy are your friends

I really thought about giving Admech a try a few years ago, but then GW started to release all the "goofy" models such as the batwing guys, the ornitothopter and recently the skatros all of whom I hated, because I found them more grimderp looking and unfit for the Warhammer 40k setting/the Mechanicus. Add to that the less than stellar models such as the cannon servitors on tracks the normandy lander, the fact that GW still hasn't released proper combat servitors and the price/point ratio and I'm glad that I never bought any of the models.
The Dragoons/ironstriders should at least be boxes of 2 for the price. It's absolutely obnoxious the most pushed kit in the entire army has been that bad value for money for several editions now.

How to start an Adeptus Mechanicus army? Several options: 1: Don´t. Their meta is not good. Their models are an absolute pain to paint and break whenever you look funny at them. 2: Buy a 3D printer and print them 3: Time travel and get several X-mas boxes from ´22 4: Win the lottery and splurge. That´s all realistic options.
Step one, negotiate with the kidnappers if there is anything else you could do to free the hostages. Step two, contact the families of the victims that there was nothing you could have done,

While I get that Ad Mech are expensive I dont fully get people complaining so much when even a cheap army from GW is going to cost you hundreds, like yes theres a massive difference between 400 and 800 but I feel like if I had the disposable income to spend 400 over the space of say 6 months or so, I wouldn't mind spending 800 over a year. I guess people want to play asap but for me I don't mind waiting a bit to get an army together personally, especially when the models are this cool. I do get the criticism but also hate the bad vibes. I was excited by these guys and now not so much because of all the negativity around it
Adeptus Scamchanicus
That's why admec is all machine. They had to replace all their organs and body parts after selling it to afford ability to play Admec.
How to start an AdMech army: Start an Iron Hands or Iron Warriors army.
AT breaks his 3 year upload streak at the same time he puts together an admech army guide, coincidence? 😅
My poor cog bois really aren't doing well.
1. Get a raise
Yes, they are pricy, but then there are plenty of people out there with 10,000 points of Space Marines…
i just realized this was a HORRIBLE IDEA MAKING THEM MY FIRST ARMY....
Just buy guard units. They have walkers, infantry, tanks and horseys.
"and sell a kidney" LOL :(
Best way to buy Admech, is to buy from someone else who bought admech first hah sad but true.
Dont start an admech army in 2023. Check back in 2025
Don't
Step 1: Buy a 3D printer
Step 2: Buy STLs
Step 1: Extend arm towards the nearest GW executive.
Step 2: Extend middle finger.
Step 3: Buy a 3D printer.
How to start an Adeptus Mechanicus army? Several options:
1: Don´t. Their meta is not good. Their models are an absolute pain to paint and break whenever you look funny at them.
2: Buy a 3D printer and print them
3: Time travel and get several X-mas boxes from ´22
4: Win the lottery and splurge.
That´s all realistic options.
Pro Tip: pick Clown 🤡 Stilt Walker for a circus feel.
How to start Ad Mech: Don’t.

Admech is one of the worst armies to start to collect right now since the price per points for models is ridiculous bad

Step One: Win the lottery
Step 1 Buy and imperial guard army.
Step 2 Keep playing imperial guard.
It's both cheaper and will win you more games.
And plays basically how admech should play if admech wasn't broken.
I'm not saying 3d printing is 100% ethical, but it IS financially viable.
