Being in a touring band affords us the opportunity to meet unique people, young & old, from different walks of life, all over the world. As musicians, and more simply as humans, we all share a connection to a weave of notes, feel, and a beat. Internally our band is always discussing our influences and turning each other on to new artists and songs but we got curious... When you listen to music, what do you listen for?

When I listen to music I look for lyrics I can connect to even if they don't apply to my experiences, for new guitar and drum rhythms that can make me feel something different, a lead singer with a voice I like, and choruses that I can sing to when in a 'singy' mood. It's not exclusive to any genre, or to the lyric or melodic complexity. Very hard to define with words.
Night Verses is one of my favorite bands as it manages to fulfill all those expectations one way or another. =)

When I listen to music I look for emotion, something that makes me feel or something that I can relate to. There's also something about hearing a certain conviction in a vocalists voice that strikes a certain chord with my being. I also look for musicianship in the drums, bass and guitar. Emotive melodies are always a plus as well with guitar, vocals, bass, anything capable of producing notes. Another thing I look for is great songwriting or when a song just sounds like everything gels perfectly that sort of creates this space that doesn't physically exist but becomes this intangible thing, not to sound esoteric. To me music like other forms of art can serve as refinement for the soul and that may be one of the biggest things or most important things I look for.

Congratulations guys on this beautiful work. Honestly, when you try to put it into words... you just miss what you try to find in music.

This doco is an act of God. I feel like I am seeing all the different faces of God talking about the multiplicity of it's creation. Shiva and Shakti entwined.

I listen for the undescribable emotions that an instrument or a soothing voice can bring you. When a song gives me goosebumps all over my body like your guy's band with this new album it gives me a wage of euphoria can almost or even does sometimes bring me to tears just from the raw emotion it makes me feel. With From The Gallery of Sleep on Phoenix IV the transition around 2 mins gave me the most intense euphoria I've ever felt. Thank you for this documentary.

This as great. Watching someone try to articulate their opinion on music is interesting in itself, but you also gathered opinions from every day people to those in the industry. Thanks for making this. I'm looking forward to the next two years.
